Every child is different. We started our journey at 3. Consistency is key but also knowing when you or your child needs a break is also just as Important. In pre school my son had to wear a pull up which definitely didn’t help during his time there which I think confused him. One side was relatively easy the other part took until right before he started kindergarten. I found once I let go and didn’t push he got it on his own. Don’t be hard on yourself bc I promise your child will notice. If it doesn’t work at first take a break and then come back.
By the way I saved this e-book months ago, and it’s gold! I love it. Not only is it helpful and informative, but also visually appealing and easy to read on my phone. I’ve got a little poop smearer on my hands and we are exhausted and at our wits end. 😫
A lot of times the smearing is a sensory thing. You can try heating up pudding or playdough it gives a similar sensation. My son used to do it because he didn't want the poop in his diaper. So if I wasn't changing him the very second he pooped he would try to get it out. Then he needed it off of his hands. Which lead to smearing it to get it off. Hasn't happened since I figured that out. Hope that helps ❤
