The music is very distracting. I have had friends and family members scroll to another video bc they didn't like the music or bc it was very distracting!! It would be very nice to just watch and hear your your video without any music. Im fact if anyone is OCD, ADH OR ADHD, or has some other issues it is a distraction which makes the individial unable to concentrate on what is needed. I am speaking from experience with children, other family members and friends or children of friends. It is something that most people would not know or think of!!! Thank you for all the videos you guys do! I do wonder if you have advice on the quality of wire to use as an earwire. I made earrings to sell a few months ago and the ear wires have turned in color to a very dull brown. I had tapped them with my hammer to harden them, so perhaps that's the sole problem. Any insight on wire would be so helpful!
Okay so you can use a plated non-tarnish wire in a 20ga, like parawire. You can hammer it, BUT it's plated. If you hammer too hard, the plating will come off. Just remember to hammer lightly and they should hold their shape and keep their shine over time. It's a great cost effective wire. The other option...karat gold or 925 silver. These aren't as cost effective and would need some cleaning over time as they can get dirty, tarnish, etc. This choice in wire is sturdy, that's for sure and will stay looking nice as long as you clean them! Also, Susan suggests using an acrylic spray on the ear wires before placing them on your finished piece! That will help with tarnishing also. Hope this helps!!

Jewel School yes I bought the corded electric reamer, and then bought the wire rounder after. It finally came today and it did not fit into the corded electric reamer nor in the Dremel/Rotary Tool. So I’ll have to buy the battery operated tool.

Hi Deana! Most side cutters I have encountered only cut the wire semi-flush unless they specifically say “flush cutter”. If you are not using a flush cutter, you will have a pointed or rough edge that you will need to file or round off before wearing or selling. That is fine! Just keep a file handy! When I am selling or gifting my jewelry I always file or round my ends. Sometimes if it is just for me, I leave the step out…then I definitely prefer to have used a good flush cutter!

In this video Susan doesn't actually say what beads she is using. It was made four years ago, so we could only give you our best guess. In other, newer videos, we do say what beads we are using (and provide link), especially if it's an essential part of the project. You can also search for bead connector or connectors. These are bead already made into a component with a bail. Hope this helps!!
I subscribed after watching JTV and I wanted to see your creations but I just wanted to share that I feel that the camera spends too much time far away and when it does get clothes it's not close enough for me to see the details of what you are doing I do have a cell phone which is my only means of internet at the moment. nonetheless has details are important I wish I could see what you're doing a lot closer rather than trying to figure it out by what you are saying. When you say “I use the largest BAIL to make these,” you actually mean the largest FORM on the bail making pliers, right? Or is the rounding portion of the pliers actually called a bail? And is that where the name for bails comes from? While I’m here, I invite you to join the move away from calling jewelry components or other odds & ends “he” or “him” or “this guy.” “Thing” is a perfectly good word and I hear it’s feeling neglected. ;o)

Hi Lynn! It is a 6 step bail making plier. A bail is a loop of any size used to attach a pendant or charm to a piece.
