    How to end the wire on necklace closures would be helpful. I've closed off necklaces and had two problems: 1. the wire end manages to expose itself enough to rub and prick the neck, and 2. The beads shift or settle enough after wearing a necklace awhile that I'm left with a little spot of bare wire at the closure which isn't pretty at all.

      @JewelSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Leah! I measure starting from the tip of the wire, when making a 90 degree bend for a loop. In general though, I use the bigger bail sizes where ever I need to make a loop in the wire! Hope that answers your question - let me know if you need more clarification! Thanks! - Katy

    Just a suggestion... you may want to use a black or dark velvet cloth on the table for your videos. I couldn’t see anything you were doing. Making a loop in the last segment... I couldn’t see it with the light beige table and the gold wire. It all blended together. Also if you could zoom in on the jewelry while showing us a technique, that would really help. I couldn’t see the bead/wire work in making a “seat” for the bead tip. Anyway, thanks for all the tips!! Love it!

    I appreciate the tips. I have a question for you. Is there a way to straighten wire before you cut it off the spool? I always find that the wire remains curved, so measuring and cutting an exact length is impossible.

    • @JewelSchool
      @JewelSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rani! You can straighten the wire with a nylon straightener right on the spool before you cut it. Just pull the length of wire you want to work with and straighten from the spool to the end of the wire and cut. If your wire is going to be long, just straighten it in sections before cutting. It's that simple! Good luck!

    • @ranimcalister5026
      @ranimcalister5026 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. I will have to acquire a nylon straightener, now. No more having to cut another length of wire, because I miscalculated the length.

      www.jtv.com/category/jewelry-making/beads/_/N-1547377695?mcid=XSOjsyt
      Our best advice would be to start small. Buy a strands of multi-colored beads that you can afford and save what you don't use to add to what we call "bead soup," which is just a mix of all different kinds of beads. You can also buy in bulk like a multi-gem parcel. Pretty soon you'll have a big collection without having spent a lot of money! Good luck to you!

    Confused with how you made the loop with regular roundnose pliers. First, don't cut the wire until you know where it overlaps. And I always mark my roundnose if I do a lot of loops and they end up the same size. So the hazzle with making a roundnose loop is not as bad as you make it out to be.
