- That might be a bold claim in my title, but I can't think of any fight which pushed Spider-Man harder than this. Hope you enjoy guys!

Every time I hear “Spider-Man could never work as an R rated film, he’s a kid friendly hero”, this exact story comes to mind. Spider-Man seems kid friendly because he jokes around, even at the face of inevitable death, but he only does that because he frequently deals with some of the darkest storylines in the Marvel universe.

Ngl I kinda hope they somehow adapt this into the MCU, it’d be sick having Tom’s Spider-Man fight for his fucking life after knowing just how cool his fight scenes can be if the writers do them right.
Spiderman's most epic fight. Not that he didn't have other great fights but you really felt that he was truly being hunted and could not escape and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't win even if he damaged his opponent in every attack.
Indeed, seeing Spidey thinking while fighting, specially the part where he sayse "Empire State University. The place where Spiderman was born... And now, where he may die" is really touching 'cause it shows that Spiderman, despite he is fighting with all that he has, knows that he will die and that he has accepted it
@@El_Badai It had quite a few touching scenes. And damn the ending in the hospital was slightly horrifying but awesome. Ah where are the stories of that quality today.

Indeed, but that was the part that touched me, its just that fighting despite knowing that this is the end... it just... sad and epic. And I dunno, but the saddest thing of all this theme is that comics with good stories such as Invincible already ended ;_;

I love how Spidey just pulls out all the stops in a last ditch effort to bring Morlun, but Thanos said it best: "Dread it, Run from it, Destiny arrives all the same. And now it's here".
So like with a threat like this guy posed - where was the avengers ? Thor in particular seeing as how insanely powerful that guy seemed.
Remember it happen suddenly, it was suposed peter was gonna die for his rare disease, not because someone like morlun was gonna kill him using his own hands :(

M J Honestly, I don't think that Thor's chances would be too much higher. Morlun nearly killed Genis-Vell (someone around Thor's level, of not much more powerful) without even trying. Spider-Man has only been able to hang with Morlun because of his surprising durability, his amazing speed, his super genius-level intellect, and his immensely strong willpower.
Thor would have been more of a distraction and would have caused more collateral damage. Seriously, Spider-Man has repeatedly and consistently stated that no one has ever hit him as hard as Morlun has, and that includes heavy hitters like Juggernaut (Peter even explicitly said that Morlun hits harder than Thor and Hulk).
sostre1 It definitely wasn't a hyperbole. He explicitly said that Morlun hits harder than Thor and Hulk twice on different occasions. And when they fought once again in Spider Geddon, Peter comments that he forgot that Morlun hits so hard, which is something that he never said for any of the heavy hitters that he fights and takes hits from. It's clearly implied that Morlun is in fact stronger than them. There's a reason why Morlun is presented as Spider-Man's biggest threat. More so than Carnage and even Juggernaut, both of whom Peter has fought on multiple occasions.
I don't see how Genis Vell's powers make it easier for Morlun to take him down. Morlun physically overpowered and nearly killed him without breaking a sweat, and Genis is more powerful than Thor and Hulk if I'm not mistaken.
We also shouldn't forget how Morlun easily rips apart Adamantium and was completely unaffected by Wakanda hitting him with their entire arsenal of advanced nuclear weapons. That's definitely a heavy hitter feat.
Some may not like him, but I could only imagine how brutal it would have been if this guy was properly adapted into a live action film. I bet someone like Reimi would’ve had a field day with Morlun considering how dark the OG trilogy was in certain parts.
Keanu Reeves would make a great Morlun.

This fight to me, is spider-man's equivalent of his doomsday fight. Just like magog is for thor, morlun is a pure unstoppable force who will never stop coming.

Spider-Man’s toughest fight will always be when he fought the sinister 6 with a gunshot wound. Nothing tops it.
Actually he got help, and the sinister six werent invincibles, Morlun can only be defeated by radiation or Magic, Spidey couldnt use any of them at the time, I think this fight is the toughtest of both :(

@Jane Terri Yet in all of those in counters he never died. He *did* die in this one and I doubt he ever took a beating this badly from any of those guys ever but maybe when a fought a Phoenix empowered Colossus and Magik However that takes place after this storyline so I'm not counting it and He didn't die in that encounter.

I am a life long Spider-Man fan. I remember reading this story. Spidey's been my hero since I was a little dude and this moment was hard to read (in that nerdy fan-boy kinda way). Cool stuff dude, keep it up.

@@christianalexander579 His DNA is definitely altered. Marvel seems to me making some of their Science based heroes cross over into the supernatural. Immortal Hulk is supposed to be the son of The One Below All now. Meaning the son of a Devil. So Peter Parker is one of the handful of Avatars of the Spider God and in cases like this, the spider will completely take over. Or just consider him a were-spider, like a were-wolf.
You can't underestimate Spidey.I always love the fact that even though his opponents are more powerful than him he never gives in and displays true courage.Plus he always use his wits to defeat his opponents.

Everyone wondering where were the Avengers during this... you gotta remember, it takes US a while to read what's going on. But in the reality of the story, this happened to Spider-Man in a matter of minutes. It's not some long, dragged out fight. Morlun beat his ass dead in literal minutes. MINUTES. And that was Spider-Man "faring better than the others".
We see it as long and dragged out, because storytelling allows for focused moments where we can see what's happening inside the characters head, or it'll focus on a single detail for a frame, or something like that. It spread out the timeline, so things look like they are taking longer than they really are.
The Avengers were still having breakfast. That's where they were.
The avengers cannot be involved in such a fight like this as they would simply die and there would be no logical way of resurrecting them all at once

The Avengers didn't help him in the Ultimate comic series when he died., either.
I remember the first Morlun appeaeance being the first Spiderman story I ever read. Darn, that feeling he gave me while reading left me wondering if he could ever be stopped. It was something unique, just like Nemesis in RE3

We know, Spider-Man mostly holds back his own strength, but there are a few enemies that are superior to him physically in almost every way and he must get serious to stand a chance:
-Venom
-Carnage
-Red Goblin
-Lizard
-Morlun
The others seem as strong as him but just because he holds back avoiding killing them

I think Morlun is one of the few villains that makes Spidey stop pulling his punches. Even more horrifying is that even when he stops holding back, spidey only does little to no damage to Morlun.

Morlun here is so better than later on. Here his pure strength overpowers everything. He uses none of that life absorption

Ben Le Spider-Man was actually dying during this fight, which is why Morlun was having a slightly easier time than he usually does against Spidey.
Djrocks Gaming As far I’m concerned. Peter’s faith was changed as before if I remember correctly he was supposed to die from a sickness but he didn’t and there’s no signs of him being weaker.
Ben Le At 2:02, he briefly makes a reference to his affliction. He was suffering from a mystical disease at the time that even Doctor Strange couldn't determine the nature of or fix. The sickness was leading up to this entire story and was implied to have been caused by the deity The Other. The sickness completely vanished after Peter was revived with new powers.
Djrocks Gaming Even then it doesn’t seem to be too badly affecting him. Plus Morlun had already fought him before this and forced him to inject radiation into himself. I’ll look further to see if Peter is as weakened as you say but I don’t really notice it.
After Spider-Man was resurrected from a battle to the death against Morlun, his friend and teammate Tony Stark built him a new suit, using Stark Tech, and obviously influenced by the colors of Stark's Iron Man Armor.

The art style and animation of it is what also really made this comic so intense and dramatic imo

This reminds of goku vs frieza. Both heroes are fighting endlessly to fight their enemy and tap into their full power and feel like they're winning only to get brutally beaten but spider man transforms after dying.

This is on par with Bane’s beating of Batman as the most brutal beat down in comics history. And it’s made all the worse because Spider-Man never really had a chance against Morlun. Even if Peter was in good health, Morlun is simply too strong for him. When he slams him into the mailbox- Jesus, that broke my heart.
Pete is never able to beat Morlun in a straight up fistfight. He beat twice straight up from what I remember. Once by injecting himself with Radiation and second time using the environment and loading him up with a enough animal tranqs kill a large elephant.
@@assassinsknight Even with the Other Boost that he got after the fight he only MAYBE could have survived and that's a big maybe. The fact is that Morlun is pretty much Spider-Man's Doomsday. The only way he's ever beaten him is either with lots of outside help, a lot of nerfs on Morlun's part or much more strength and experience than he had at this point. While I do think The Other would've made it a more even fight, I think he'd need both that and Venom working in harmony to actually reliably beat Morlun in a straight fight. Still good luck on getting such a perfect situation to happen again though.
As he was here he had like a 20% chance of winning, if we're generous. Other brings it up to like 50ish Other and Venom probably gives him like a good 60-70%. Not great but better odds than this fight where Peter was screwed the entire time and he fucking knew it.

In the spidey 2099 spider verse comics morlun goes to eat an alternate universe Spidey 2099 inside avengers tower. Wolverine stabs him through the stomach but morlun LAUGHS it off and punches Logan into cap America, knocking them both out. He then eats captain mar-vel and then kills 2099. He dips out after that(mans was a BLUR when moving) and cap says he's kinda thankful morlun was only there for spidey, even tho he's sad 2099 Is dead.
In another comic way earlier, morlun gets brought to Wakandan to kill shuri, and shuri activates all Wakandan defenses. Morlun tears through it all, even ripping apart vibranium nets and Wakandan soldiers sent to fight him. Shuri gets rid of him with a spell but morlun went on a rampage to get to her.
In the spider geddon(2019) comics, morlun fights Peter in a zoo and when Peter dips for a sec to recover, swatt pulls up on morlun, only for him to start punching bodies apart casually.

As a kid, I always hated this comic since I felt so bad for Spider-Man. But now I see it’s really one of the best fights I’ve seen from Marvel, especially because of the writing. Hopefully, the MCU brings Morlun in at some point and launches the SpiderVerse arc.
This was absolute art.
The breakdown of Peter's character, and the absolute invincible wall that is Morlun.
Peter is literally facing death head-on. And it wears the face of everything he stands against.
The only mistake he did, was facing him alone. Even if his fighting spirit was more than that of only one man.
This would be an amazing R rated movie. I imagine this movie would be a huge hit.

Even the 1987-1992 Venom (who severely hated Spiderman) would have felt sorry for him.
Probably the best comic book fight I've ever seen/read, apart from Superman vs Doomsday. The gorgeous artwork really helped amplify the feels here.

That’s basically what he is. He’s as strong as Thor and his dad can kill a cosmic spiderman.
He knows were aunt may lives, peters family and friends and even friends he hasn’t met yet.
He’s a multiverse walker so if he needs to know things about his target he can do some investigating across the multiverse and see common weaknesses and locations.
He can suck the soul of anyone, but generally prefers totems (animal people)
Even if he is killed he has back up bodies in his home world to transfer himself to.
His whole family is just as strong.
You know I take back Kraven and others being the Main villain in MCU Spider-Man 3 I'd like to see Morlun now and see Tom's Spider-Man have the toughest and hardest fight any Film Spider-Man has ever had.

I believe Morlun is what is referred to as a “Psychic Vampire”. Unlike their bloodsucking cousins, psychic vampires feed on psionic energy, rather than blood.

The ps4 spidey game wouldve been GREAT for it.
He could be a secret final boss, after u complete EVERYTHING, u have to go to the docks and swing around for a bit, he will appear and fight u, and u have 2 options, stay at the docks or take the fight to the city, basically, u can fight him wherever u want.
He would be extremely fast and hit HARD, the knockback and combos he would have would be crazy.
He can counter thrown objects and instead of having a "gimmick" where most bosses need to be webbed up or have objects thrown at them to be stunned, morlun has NONE of that.
U have to be LUCKY with your strikes.
I'd say have it be a duration battle, cuz Ps4 spidey isn't strong enough to beat him alone.
U could either damage him enough or just hold him off long enough for Superior spidey to come save you.

Realistically, this is what should always happen when a merely super-strong hero like Spider-Man goes up against a beyond-the-laws-of-physics strong adversary in the Hulk/Thor/Thanos range: someone so invulnerable that a Spider-Man level hero simply cannot hit them hard enough to do any damage; and once they stop playing around they break a lower-level hero like a rag doll.
Spider-Man level is commonly called street-level. It refers to heroes that are superhuman but can't level cities, so Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Captain America are all good examples.

What doesn’t make sense is that although Morlun is strong and probably 60 ton tier, Spider-Man at that moment was at least 35 ton tier. After the metamorphosis he was above 50 ton tier, yet he can’t scratch Morlun. I understand Morlun is very durable and he hasn’t gotten stronger yet but he should at least damage him a litttl

Meta Man I know. But spideys a prime example. His punches are stronger than his lifting strength so either way it supports my claim. He has smaller fists and can move much quicker, meaning he can exert a lot more PSI compared to other heroes. And besides my main point is Spider-Man should have dealt more damage because of that.

The reason is the stamina: Spidey can hurt Morlun by using 100% strenght but in the end, he will exhaust himself while Morlun is tireless.

I love how during this whole fight, everybody who sees it is just kinda like "Oh hey, that's neat" and once it's over they're just kinda like "Huh, that was weird. Anyway." Also, never actually read this story, how exactly does he get out of that? I mean, it ends on a pretty clear L for Spidey, and that seemed like a "lose and you die" kind of fight.
He actually does die. He comes back later, but he got completely destroyed in this fight.

Putting Morlun in a Spidey movie is like putting Doomsday in a Superman movie: The heroe have to face an opponent that was create to kill him.
No one does. Not even Sony or Marvel did and it's a shame because both of them could have done some Spider-man animations or any other adaptations at a more graphic level before Disney was involved. Even the video games shy away from the graphic violence that's quite significant in Spider-man comics such as the Symbiote stories. It was so insulting to see no blood or gore in the Venom movie because it diminished the gruesome brutality of the Symbiote's nature and we don't actually see Venom explicitly eat or tear up human flesh. They had the balls to do it with dc heroes like Superman in a recent 2018 animation film and many Spider-man stories tend to be darker then Supes.

People often say Venom or Carnage is Spider-Man's deadliest foe but in all actuality , IT IS MORLUN. For the simple fact that Morlun only grows stronger and feeds on Spider-Man's energy the more he tries to fight him. Then there is the fact that Morlun is already beyond physically stronger than Spider-Man. During their first fight , he literally ate Peter's eye and killed him If I'm not mistaken. Peter had to literally trick him into draining a bunch of radiation just to stop him the first time. He barely succeeded. Morlun should be considered Spider-Man's most deadliest foe.

We all should remember that Spider-Man had an uncurrable desease up to this moment. He was very tired and felt powerless almost all the time. Which is why he wasn't able to win this fight.
I don’t think it was a disease. Morlun was weakening him. Not to mention he was relentlessly chasing and stalking Peter for about a week.
morlun is one of the few foes peter needs to plan to beat. even when he was healthy, morlun beats his ass. and peter knows it.
