I used to give my husband lots of admiration, for his hard work, for his soft lips, for how talented he was, he was a great musician! He ate it up. Even after he got dementia I found things to praise him for, honestly. We spent the last three years of his life, living as much as he was capable of, not dreading the loss of his capability’s but focusing on what he could do and enjoying being together! He passed away 16 months ago and I miss him so much! I treasure every day we got to share together!

It's coming out naturally with him and it feels so good :).

I received a txt from my man yesterday.. saying he was going out for dinner. I replied Have a good night and maybe we could talk later? A couple of minutes later I receive another txt asking Would I please open the door so he could come in! A total surprise that I loved. He lives 2.5hrs away from me. What a loving surprise! I said 'Oh you're the best!" 🥰😍❤ I tell him I love it when he holds me and I can put my head on his shoulder (he's tall).. it's overwhelming to me... probably to him too.

I never say,' You need to' or 'you ought to' to him. I make suggestions, he listens and we discuss matters. We are really great friends. Oh yes, I always give him my attention when he speaks.

I was raised to build others up. So, it’s something that comes naturally to me. There is nothing more rewarding than putting a smile on someone else’s face, other than laughter. One of the things that I am most proud of is a sign that I made for my supervising teacher(I work as a Special Education Instructional Assistant). He was working/student teaching and getting his masters in Special Education the first year that I met him. Being a Special Ed teacher consumes your life. At the end of the school year, I ended up making him a sign for making it through his first year as a teacher and graduation. His favorite super hero is Superman. I painted a Superman Symbol at the top of the piece of wood. Then, I found an acronym for every letter in his first and last name, that describes his character. He is one of the best Special Education teachers that I’ve ever met. I have been in the same occupation for almost 20 years. Authentic and kind words do go a long way. You would be surprised at the kind of connection that you can build with others, just by acknowledging their little efforts of contribution or even their greatness.

I am learning how important compliments are and how to express my appreciation for mine. I have focused for years on not nagging and insulting others but haven’t figured out how to comfortably say compliments. My partner now is so good at complimenting me in a sincere way and using terms of endearment. So far I have complimented him for how he allows me to feel and express my feminine side, how he makes me feel young and beautiful, how and why I appreciate different parts of his body, for helping me relax and de stress, and for opening up and creating a level of trust so we can express ourselves.

He does his best to make sure I am happy, so he is most fulfilled when I say, "You make me so happy or I am so happy with you", he does his best to make our relationship work so I always tell him "I appreciate what you are doing for us", "I'm so proud of you and to be with you" and "I trust you". In return, he does the same too and is generous with his compliments to me.

Every time I message my partner I always start with my beautiful man. I tell him he dials up my feminine energy, makes my heart sing and my spirit soar by looking out for me and making sure I'm alright. When he's working on a big project or I know he needs a lift I remind him of how proud I am of his achievements and I'm the wind beneath his wings.
