How To Setup Paul Thumbies Using Bar End Shifter 1X9 Speed Conversion Bike Blogger

- In this video I describe how to install a bar end shifter on a Paul Thumbie thumb shifter handlebar mount.
Use the lever boss cover (notched washer) that comes with the bar end shifter, orient it in the correct position, and screw down the mounting bolt. Easy! No other parts needed except the shift cable of course.
Note: My 1X speed conversion is not using the Paul Thumbie, but you could install it on bullhorn handlebars near the brake lever or closer to the bike stem.

Thanks for the installation video! Great process documentation, however we designed these with the shifter to be rotated 90^ clockwise from where you set them up, so that the shifter is easier to reach, and almost runs into the Thumbie body in the smallest cog. I know, this video is 4 years old already, but we just discovered it!

excellent, excellent. that's exactly what i was looking for. I plan to install shimano 8 speed levers on the Paul mounts. You're very much the only one showing that in the entire freaking YT! thank you. Would have been perfect if you had also shown installing the cables and everything, i'm gonna have to figure it out by myself. But still, thank you for the informative video.
Very interesting niche components, for this era. I have SIS rear mech thumb shifters on my 1991 Bianchi Axis. Of course that was when STI was still a gleam in the eye of Shimano engineers.

the combine of paul clamp and DA shifter is more expenxive then any other shifters, you can buy for that price a new bike 😂😂😂😂 paul do NOT realize that other manufactor offer clamp too and paul be space past past past a go 🤣🤣🤣🤣
