Some people prefer friction, and if your derailleur hanger is slightly out of whack, indexed steps can end up between cogs, so friction is helpful in a pinch
You can shift quicker with a friction shifter. Precision is all depends on your muscle memory. Just needs to practice using friction shifter to perfect your shifting skills.

Our Shimano compatible MTB 10 speed thumb shifter (SL-M10-R) has a close enough pull ratio that it will work.
Is there any specific reason why you may want a friction shifter? Is an indexing shifter not simpler for a consumer?
