nice rebuild..my 44807 is still in use since i bought it new in the early 90s. Keep it lubed and it won't skip.

Just bought one at a pawn shop for $1 because it wasn’t working properly. Took it apart and cleaned it up and had a problem getting the lever in with the pawl already in place holding the bearing/spring down. You have to push the pawl out to get clearance for the lever to slide in but then the bearing pops out of place. Then my bearing flew across the room and I can’t find it now 😭 😂 Ordered a rebuild kit, now I wait.

I am having lots of trouble getting my lever in. The lip on it makes it difficult.

Hello. I was rather surprised in finding this vid. Thanks so much for the info and clear presentation. Curious. Where does one find a repair kit these days? My bro's ratchet was USA manufactured years ago and I would like to recondition it. Thanks again. Tony

I found this one on eBay. That’s about it sadly.

Damn.... that wire wheel cleaned the up nice! I'm not a fan of those ratchets, they're pretty bulky. I do like their weight though, good for bashing it with a hammer when you're in a pinch.

Good video! Does anybody have any idea what size the little ball bearing is? I had my 44807 apart for cleaning and managed to misplace the ball bearing.

Did you ever find out what size the ball is? Looks like it's around 1/16, but probably metric, so 1.5mm or 2mm.

I totally dropped mine today, long gone. Took a caliper to my spring and found it to be 3/32". Ordered some and going to see if it'll fit...

Do these have a lifetime warranty? Cant you get a replacement at home depot or lowes?

Do they sell just the gear? With the cost of the repair kit i might as well buy a new ratchet.

The new ratchets are made overseas now. That’s why I opted to save this one.

Why not warranty it out at the local store? I believe Lowe’s sells them now.

      They’re Chinese made now.

Mine was similarly rusted so I tried to exchange it at Lowe’s but Lowe’s no longer stocks them. I contacted Craftsman directly and they advised that this model has been discontinued. They did offer me a swivel socket in exchange but I will likely rebuild mine instead since it was part of a larger socket set and the replacement likely wouldn’t fit the molded plastic storage location. Nice video. Thanks.

Plus, it’s kinda nice to repair/maintain a tool instead of discarding it.

I will send you the ratchet with a new repair kit and pay you if you will install the kit and return it to me. I am being serious. I have MS and it makes this sort of small tedious stuff impossible for me to do any longer

Those are trash I had one exactly like that from a big craftsman ratchet and socket kit and the ratchet broke in the first month of use. I’ve replaced it with my dads crescent that is older than me but still gets work done
