    Apparently on the 240 there is a trick : ..if you shut it off ..to restart it you are supposed to ..pull choke ..dont pull cord ..close choke ..that resets hi idle ..then pull cord and it'll restart . ..explained again: #1pull choke #2close choke #3pull cord

    4 years late to the party, it has been sitting on my shelf for at least that long, due to the same issues, finally working on the problems (same as yours) now having to change rotting fuel lines. You not only have the same chain saw, with the same problem, noticed you have the same blue craftsmen's tool box that I have.

    I threw mine across the yard 5 times in a row. Handle is now loose and basicslly had the Same problem you mention… Warm it up. Go to cut the tree. Hit the throttle. Cuts off and won’t start again. Just bought a carb rebuild kit hopefully It will run fairly decent after a carb rebuild and tune

    Those have a 2-bbl carb, top port is for the air. I was given 1 & after I replaced the fuel line, cleaned the carb, it ran fine. I've also a 141 which is an older saw & far better. It doesn't have the 2-bbl carb. These are essentially Poulans & supposed to be of better quality. Jonsered, Husqvarna & Poulan are made in the same factory.

      They have 2-bbl carbs and that is the main problem. Underneath the throttle shaft there is a hidden jet, and it moves when you operate the trigger, and it wears out in a year.
      There should be a warning label on these Husqvarna 235 and 240. X-torq?!
      No es bueno.

    Also check you gap on the coil and flywheel if it’s to much of a gap it won’t run long and won’t start after it warms

  • @wilkey40
    @wilkey40 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Put on a 12" Oregon bar (3/8 .050) and chain and it makes a much better pruning saw

  • @JamesRazorbacks
    @JamesRazorbacks 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    If they start, then they die on you if you set it down or if you have to refill it with fuel, and it won’t start or just hard to start check your gap between I guess it’s called the flywheel and the bottom of the coil there’s a little ear down And the gap should be very very little like two sheets of paper thick. If it’s any more than that, you’re gonna have those issues, and it will never run right no matter what adjustments you do with the fuel or anything loosen up move the coil down almost touching tighten it up. Let me know how it does.

      Thanks! After carb adjustments it runs summertime, winter, fall spring no issues and starts instantly!

    I took mine all the way down to the piston! Only to find that the cylinder has two teflon inserts that are a real son of a b*tch when reassembling the thing! So yeah the biggest pile I have ever owned!

    • @JamesRazorbacks
      @JamesRazorbacks 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey there’s a flaw with the 240s with the gap from coil to flywheel, take pull start off and see if gap is to big if so loosing and using feeler gauge get it close as you can and it should work fine warm cold and not stall on ya

    Interesting, I found the same thing, had to turn out the Low end 2 1/2 turns and the Hi 2 and a bit and now it seems to start and run decent. Was thinking maybe it's got an air leak, hence the need for more fuel. I was going to take it apart and leak test it, but I'm wondering if everyone else is seeing the same thing? If so I'll just leave it...

    I think you should throw it across the yard preferably into a tree at least once a year just so it knows who is boss.

    I don’t know, maybe you got a lemon, I’ve got a Huskqvarna 235 best little machine I’ve ever had. it’s a great little piece of shit. lol . I’ve had mine for almost 10 years. Never a problem
    I also have a much bigger machine 3400 XP pro that one I’ve had since 1985. preventative maintenance thats all it takes.

    Amen to the whole thing! Especially about the "Stupid Peeps" who make the laws and regulations regarding small engines. Check this out, k Caterpillar engines for road trucks are not around anymore because of them trying to meet EPA Standards without having an engine that is so expensive to produce, its just not practical however you look at it. Now, there are engines being produced and the owners of operators have to add a chemical to the fuel too burn the converters at a regular interval to burn out and remove the carbon that builds up in the new style converters. Now at the time of initiation burned countless of brand new trucks to the ground from the thing producing so much uncontrollable heart, the trucks caught on fire and BAM,,, All those trucks were burned??? What kind of terrible stuff do you think went in the air from all that??? Probably better off to leave some things alone. Right??? That's my thinking about it. I liked the video! I'm with you on all you said in the vid! Take care my friend!!

    Once you think you have it figured out and get it tuned, it'll fall on its face and to die. You would think that somebody came in the middle of the night and messed with your carb settings, seriously!
