I pulled the plug wire it still would not die!! Finally choked it out with my thumb pulled the rope and it fired up without the plug wire hooked up… the gas was so bad it was running like a diesel.. changed the gas and now it works fine lol..

Seeing is believing. Thanks Taryl! Informative as usual!
At the refinery crude oil is distilled into many different compounds (fractions) that range from asphalt to propane and many others in between.
It helps to understand that gasoline is a cocktail mixture of those different fractions. You’ve heard of summer and winter “blends”?
In winter, especially for you grass rats that live in colder climates, more butane is added to the gasoline cocktail for easier starting.
Many times when gasoline goes stale and begins to smell like varnish, the lighter fractions of the cocktail have evaporated, leaving only the heavier, oilier fractions in the can or fuel tank.
You witness this in summer when your gas can swells up with pressure. When you remove the gas cap, some of the lighter fractions that have evaporated due to heat escape.
Just sharing for those inquiring minds who like to understand how things work.
In this case, fuel from Taryl’s slop (waste) barrel is made more burnable using this product.

@@Watchyn_Yarwood It varies based on temperature, exposure to the atmosphere/humidity, ethanol content and I'm sure other factors. I've seen it start to turn in as little as a month or two here in Florida as the ethanol absorbs humidity and ruins it fairly quickly. That said, I had a family member store their generator in my shed for about 6 years and when we went to prepare for a hurricane, we found it had gas in it all that time (usually drain them and run until all the fuel is out of the system). We opened the cap to find the gas didn't smell bad so we tried it and it fired right up. He also had some gas cans that were full and that gas was also good I think because they were full and sealed tight. The funny part was we opened one and used some, and within a couple of weeks the gas in that can was totally rotten. Once the air touched it it was all over for that old gas. We ran the rest of the sealed cans in our vehicles with no issue.
But yes, it would be more accurate to use old rotten gas rather than gas mixed with oil, but it's still impressive that it ran on that.

Naptha is what they used to call "white gas", used for fuel in camp stoves and the old Coleman lanterns, and is also what cigarette lighter fuel is. Has a very low boiling point. What you're basically doing by adding naptha, is replacing all the volatiles that evaporate out of old gasoline, that creates the combustible fumes, which are what initially combust and ignite the rest of the gasoline.

Greetings Taryl & Fellow Grass Rats:
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your informative videos on lawn equipment repair. I've always been an imitation reactive repair person. Willing to attempt minor lawn mower routine maintenance procedures & a few simple repairs once something broke, But, since I have been watching your channel, I have found ample tutorials & guidance to give me the confidence to attempt more intricate & involved repairs. Most recently was a Troy Built TB30R 30" Cut small tractor lawn mower that was left for dead by a former renter. I was told the mower deck had a bent spindle shaft from running over something while mowing the yard. The sudden impact of the mower coming in contact with the obstacle was said to have been so traumatic that it not only destroyed the mower deck spindle shaft, but also bent the crankshaft in the Breaks & Scrap 'Em engine. The old shot mower was left sitting in the driveway, exposed to the elements for over 2 years. Later on, as the residents decided to move out, they of course abandoned the old mower in it's resting place, sitting on the driveway. I thought, what the heck, what do I have to lose? I started in on the mower. First removing the mower deck & belt so I could investigate the engine to see if it was salvageable. As it turned out, the engine crank was not damaged & it would turn over. Your favorite, Nikki Six Carbatrator was a mess. Among other things, looked like it had concrete in the float bowl. I was able to clean that thing up & rebuild it. Cleaned out the plastic fuel tank, replaced the inline fuel filter & intake filter, installed a new battery, shot in some dino farts & she fired right up. I couldn't get Elkskins image out of my head!!! The engine ran ok, but got even better with some basic carb adjustments. So then I focused on the mower deck. I discovered a badly bent blade. No surprise there. But after I removed the blade, I found the deck spindle shaft wasn't bent. But, the 6" pulley mounted on the shaft was. I replaced the pulley. Installed a new 30" blade, reinstalled the mower deck & now I have a working riding mower to use on that property while renovating the house, preparing it for sale.
I credit my ability to work through these issues to you & your crew & your "how to" videos that show it can be done, even by me. Thank you for what you do. Keep up the good work. It is much appreciated.
    Sincerely, JGA from Louisville, KY.

We did an experiment with almost a perfect 50/50 ratio of water to gasoline and it would still run on the stuff, not great but it ran period! Because of such a high ratio of water to fuel it was actually producing steam out of the exhaust while it was running! The bonus was steam cleaned the top end of the engine so it's a win win win situation. Though it's not cheap stuff but for people with a boat or hard to access gad tanks? It's priceless! ❤❤❤😊

As mentioned, it's primarily naphtha. A gas engine will run very well on naphtha (better than most modern gas blends you can buy at the pump); naphtha is less refined than gasoline, but has the interesting characteristic of raising octane and increasing combustibility; but running a high percentage of naphtha also increases emissions (contains Benzene), which is why it is only used as a gasoline additive to increase octane.

The Stabil-360 was on of the last ones standing (and rated for just 12 months so it was still working while "expired"... Had started breaking down)... So might one of the "standards" to compare with (along with E10).
Was very surprised they never used "Original" (Red/Storage) STABIL during testing as it is rated for 2 years... While not focused on fighting Ethanol... It is compatible/meant to work with Ethanol Blends up to E85...
So some E10, Pri-G, STABIL 360 (Amber), STABIL Storage (Red), heck might as well throw in STABIL Marine (Blue)... Along with a selection of the other Stabilizers that DID NOT Gum up or show signs of corrosion LONG before their advertised stabilizer life (Think besides 360 @ 1 year, I think most were 2 years? Maybe 1 was 3 years? But ALOT of them showed gumming/corrosion after less then a year or far less then 24 months...

Nice to find a product that actually works. I admit I could be totally wrong on this but as gasoline is exposed to the atmosphere, the lighter fractions of the fuel blend which help the engine to start easily will evaporate off and leave the heavier fractions of the blend behind. If left long enough a sludge deposit is left behind in the carbatrater bowl. Gasoline goes through some chemical changes as it ages and I'm curious how the Pri-G actually works. Saying "chemistry" or "science" isn't an answer. What does the product actually do? Let me guess - they use the best snakes in America. Thanks for the vid.

But I think the plant has been mothballed 10 years ago for not producing the targeted market and economic returns results.

Glass bowl filters that were crusty became much cleaner with use of Startron in the fuel. Not sure what it does for stale gas. I have used it in all of my equipment for years including my classic Austin Healey Sprites with SU carburetors, which can be finicky, and needles and valves stay clean and run well. It's time to test this for many months like you did the other fuel additives. With all of the comments about it being "just naphtha" it would be worthwhile doing a test with adding Coleman fuel to the stale gas and see if it has the same effect as Pri-G. If it does, run a head to head test over many months like you did with the other fuel stabilizers. If you run the long term test, store your fuel in a metal container. I've seen naptha evaporate right through a plastic container without softening the plastic.

I just pour old gas like that in my cars and fill the tank with good gas.. it will mix up well and the o2 sensors will account for any change that it needs.. fuel injection burns that old gas pretty well.. because it can automatically adjust on the fly.. just dont fill more than a quarter tank of bad gas at a time. I haven't seen any issues with it. I'll be happy when all mowers are fuel injected.

@2:06 Gas refineries DO NOT buy PRI-G. It would be prohibitively expensive. Instead they buy the raw materials. This is snake oil at it's finest.
Just like Oxiclean, the active ingredient is sodium percarbonate but is only in 40% volume. The rest is fillers. Then they charge for those fillers and fancy packaging.
Just buy sodium percarbonate in bulk and save.

There was a TH-camr that tests a bunch of fuel additives years ago. It was a pretty thorough test lasting about a year as I recall.
What they found out is that the fuel additives don't do anything to help the gasoline to last longer or stay in better condition for the carbs on a bunch of small engines.
They proved that they're all snake oil and in fact in some cases the additive made things worse and that plain gasoline worked better without any additives.
    Moral of the story?
    Go pound your additive.

Well I would agree that it could help in a situation such as you were mentioning as an island or a country that doesn't use a lot of fuel and has to import it all. Obviously they don't use it in the United States. If they did our gas wouldn't be turning into crap after a couple months. 😢. One other thing to recommend if you're going to treat a 55 gallon drum see if you can find somebody with an old aquarium pump and buy a new bubbler stone at the Walmart. If they want to put some air into that fuel get that and put it in your $55 gallon drum and run it for about an hour. I wouldn't want to run it too long cuz you would help to vaporize what few volatiles you have left. ☹️. And as another poster said probably letting it sit for 24 hours after treatment and oxygenation would give the chemicals time to react. Obviously not a problem this time of year, but in the winter time I would give it a longer period 48 to 72 hours to react.

My trick is I don’t buy more gas than I can use in 1 month. I add seafom to a 5 gallon can. If it runs out whatever is left in my mower’s carb won’t gum
up before i get more gas. I never have to drain out the carb when I store the mower. Starts every time in the spring.
This stuff may work too, but cost 3-4 times as much. Thanks for the video, but I will keep doing what I do. You be you.😊

@@aswilson5656 maybe, but I have a lot of small equipment and it doesn’t always get run enough to empty a tank in a month. I put it in the gas can when I get gas and if I happen to not use a machine for a few months, I don’t have any worries. Cheap insurance. I’ve had gas gum up in the carburetor in as quick as three weeks without treating it. One bottle of seafoam for $8 does 15 gallons of gas. That’s not what I call breaking the bank.
