How does that explain the noise if the AC compressor is on and when it is off. We replaced everything and the noise is coming from a metal fuel line that runs underneath the cold air intake.
I think I may have a similar issue, how does it sound now that the bearings have been replaced? My tensioner pulley makes a clacking noise but I’m not sure how a boxer should sound having come from a hybrid!
Haha well a boxer engine won't be as quiet, but the clacking of a tensioner pulley should be notably absent once fixed! My clack/knock was quite loud under load with bad pulleys
Man... mine had the sound intermittently so everytime i took it in to find out what the issue was I looked like a fool as it would never make the noise when i take it in
Exactly the same for me, but luckily my mechanic caught it happening after about 10 minutes of waiting. For the life of me I don't know why it sounded good as gold whenever I was trying to explain the noise but as soon as I was by myself the noise would get LOUD. I swear it was like that dancing frog from the old WB cartoons. "HELLO MY BABY, HELLO MY HONEY, HELLO MY RAGTIME GALLLL!"
Did you get more info on your noise. Mine sounds the same as yours, only a quick noise on start up and then a little again after a rev to 3500 rmp, Idles absolutely fine. I was really hoping it was this and not a bearing but I took the belt off and it still made the noise and I thought it was more from the back
I'm not entirely sure. I will say that the noise went from being barely noticeable to extremely concerning within only a couple hundred miles. From what I understand many other 86 owners have had similar issues and it seems to be expected every 30-50k miles
@@Aaron-fb6mb mine too spent 500 dollars at local auto shop. He replaced tensior and serpentine belt. 2 days latter, same noise. I might just take it to toyota
It went from just noticeable to very loud in a very short amount of time, maybe a day. Prior to that I didn't notice any sound from pulleys that was cause for concern. From what I understand this a common issue about every 30-40k miles
Damn my 2020 Chevy with 39,000 has this problem and i need a septic tool to take off the belt I don’t wanna take it to a machine cause I’m just gonna fell like I’m going to get ripped off for something so simple yet I can’t take off the belt😅
Great tutorial and video, explains a lot about what is going on with my Jeep. 👍

My car makes this noise coming from the pulley area, but none of the pulleys have any play?
Have you changed all of your cam gears and timing chain?
I sold the car a while back and swore off subarus!
Where can i order a tensioner pulley kit?

Do you have the part numbers?
I do not. If you look up an oem parts dealer online you should be able to find it easily.
Thanks bud i have the same problem

Did you ever use a lightweight pulley set or crankshaft pulley by any chance?
I have not. Lots of info on the ft86club forum though. Best of luck!
My car id making a similar sounds but only when I rev it or I’m driving, and it’s coming from the back of the motor. Do you have any ideas?

Yep mine finally went at 113,000 tensioner pulley melted.
When this starts…how long can you continue to drive the car?

I assume that when you say that you were being charged about $400.00 the pulleys and tensioner were included, right ?
Correct, it was about $400 for 3x pulleys/tensioner and belt.

$300 for 3 pulleys & belt? Ouch,no thx.
