Bought my Iris Blue '94 968 in 2011 and absolutely love it. These cars are underrated but have been getting more attention in recent years. I also own an 88 Carrera and enjoy driving it just as much, but the best thing is experiencing the differences between the two. Great video and look forward to seeing more of your modifications in the future.

I bought my first Porsche in 1985, a red 924 turbo. I thought I was a king. Then bought my first brand new 911 an '88. I wasn't even aware of this car. I may buy one. Since then I've owned lots of Porsches and just bought my first 928. A red '88 GT with 16 thousand miles on it - in mint condition, like brand new. 1 owner who collects Porsches and stores them for sale later. Paid $88 thousand for it, the original stick was on the car - $76 thousand.

Thanks for the fun review! Dido on everything you said! I've been fortunate enough to own a 924S, 944S2 coupe and cabriolet, as well as a 968 coupe. They were all fantastically fun cars to own that didn't break the bank. I'm taking delivery of a 968 cabriolet next week and can't wait! Anybody considering one of these cars, especially the 968, go for it! You won't be disappointed! This review is right on! Great vibe.

As much as I like this video I would like to point out that the front was not inspired by the 928. The back was. The front was designed to create family resemblance to the 993 which was about to be produced. So says Harm Lagaay who designed it. The rear bumper design was inspired by the 928. I love my 968.

I had a 968 CS with M220 and M030 package recarors and no rear seats, full CS trim. The only modification I did back the days was a K&W suspension. The suspension upgrade felt like 50 horses more 😂😅.
Till today I love the lineage of the car, it is a long hatchback. The 4 cylinder non turbo is a dream. If you change the limited exhaust and remap the electronic you will get proper 265 horses. The driveability is in the deadzones better then the 964. The 964 reacts quick to driver faults, the 968 is more stable. The 968 Turbo S is an increadible car, back these days a good friend who worked in Weissach bought one and we spend laps on the Nordschleife🎉. We allways laughed driving circles arround the 996 which had the "construction problems' on track.

i see porsche did produce a 968turbo with 305bhp, but i've only seen reviews on the standard car or the clubsport968. it would be nice to see a road test on the turbo model PLEASE. And where are all the turbos hiding, i'll google 968turbo & see what happens. my current porsche is a black gen2 997 6speed techart twin turbo. i also have a 2018 nardo grey stage1 RS3 Sportback..But i have an eye on a 1992 silver 968tiptronic, never seen a manual yet. happy porsching around to all, & please be careful out there on the road.

As long as they wear the Porsche badge, every Porsche has its own charm.
And in times of crisis for Porsche, non- 911 models saved the Porsche.
The 924 in the 70s, the 944 in the 80s, the Boxster in the 90s, the Cayenne in the 2000s, the Paramera now, and the Taycan will extend the life of the 911.
    They are all Porsches.

The 968 needed a turbo to put out that kind of power AND it was 3.0ltr compared to the Hondas 2.0ltr naturally aspirated. There's no comparison. I do love 968s though and I'd prefer that over the S2000.

Nice video. But to answer the question in your title, absolutely not! .. how come a 968 (one of the least loved Porsches) comes to be the best vintage Porsche? .. I think all the front engine, rear transaxle Porsches will NEVER be like a 911, I'm saying that and I own a 928S4 and a 930 turbo, everyone admires the 930, but the 928, not so much.

    • @user-ii3fk6mr6h
      @user-ii3fk6mr6h 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@durrantalan My comment was not pedantic. THIS IS PEDANTIC. What does the thumbnail look like? (968 Turbo S) What's the title of the video? (1994 Porsche 968 Turbo S Review. The best vintage Porsche?) what does he review? Big hint! Not the Turbo S. I would get into the habit of using a dictionary or leave the big words alone. Here are a few definitions to save everyone time looking them up. Thanks to Marriam Webster.
PEDANT: one who is unimaginative or who unduly emphasizes minutiae in the presentation or use of knowledge.
PEDANTIC: of, relating to, or being a pedant.
Pedantic is an insulting word used to describe someone who annoys others by correcting small errors, caring too much about minor details, or emphasizing their own expertise, especially in some narrow or boring subject matter. I don't know about you but I would say there are minor differences between the two cars, and I definitely wasn't showing off expertise.
CLICKBAIT: something (such as a headline) designed to make readers want to click on a hyperlink especially when the link leads to content of dubious value or interest.
DailyDrives made the title about the turbo S because if it was just about the 968 a lot fewer people would have clicked on it. After all, we all are here because it said 968 Turbo S.
