LOL, I went at this in reverse order. I had a nearly new 01 Heritage Softail and sold it and later on bought an 05 V-Star 650 classic which looks a lot like a Heritage. I kept the V-Star for close to 10 years and then a friend told me about a Yamaha Stratoliner. I wound up buying a Stratoliner a little over a year ago and now I own 2 of them. You can hop that Harley up quite a bit but, it probably won't run with the newest 114 cubic inch Harley. The Stratoliner is also 114 cubic inch and they have been around since 2006. It runs right up there with Harley's latest and greatest.

That's one nice bike you got yourself. I had an 88 Heritage brand new in 1988, i used it as my commuting bike into central London everyday, took it across east and west Canada,
took it coast to coast both ways in the US and went to Sturgis 90th on it. She never missed a beat.

Nice looking bike. I have a 2019 Heritage Softail Classic. I really like it and have had several accessories and mods added to it. Looks like all you need to do to it is replace the tires and do a fluid flush. I use Amsoil to replace all the fluids. Amsoil is a little bit more expensive than the other competitors, but it's number one for engine performance and protection. Enjoy your bike!

With 74k, I would want to know that has been done before running it much, because if the tensioners fail it can put chunks of plastic into the oil passages, clogging them and causing catastrophic failure.
From what I can tell, on my shitty tablet, it looks like the push rod tubes sre stock. That doesn't mean the tensioners haven't been serviced but it does mean that, if they have been, it was done by disassembling the rocker boxes.
It would be well worth the cost of a cam chest gasket and oil to crack it open and check. If the tensioners look good, you have piece of mind nad if they're shot then you can save a bunch on not doing more damage.
A really good source for twin cam information is Kevin Baxter's channel.

Sorry brother, but that's simply not true.
There are well known issues on the twin cam, as with any other mechanical thing. There are no perfect machines, and he said this has 75k miles, so it is only prudent to check in the cam chest to see what shape the tensioners are in. They are a well known failure point and who knows if they have ever been serviced.
All machines are a compromise between cost to manufacture, performance, and reliability.
They all require maintenance and buying one with unknown upkeep means if you neglect thoroughly checking everything out, especially the well known failure points, you are just asking to be standing beside the rode next to a pile of scrap.
That being said, I get that not everyone has the skill, aptitude, or patience to be cracking a set of cases or even changing the oil on any machine. I've had a couple bikes that, that was very obvious.
I have a 72 XLCH that looked like the previous owner's only tools were a hammer, screwdriver, vice grips and a tube of silicone.
So, yeah if you don't have the chops, take it to a shop.
Just my 2cents. You do you.
      Ride safe.

@jerrylong381 and this is the reason I am upgrading and have been going through everything on the bike, the last owner obviously didn't do a lot of maintenance and with the mileage, I'd like to freshen it up. Absolutely! The only things I don't do myself are things I don't have the tools to do. Like boring the jugs and porting heads.
And it is reassuring to know what condition everything under your ass is in. You sure don't want to have a motor lock up at 80mph because the last guy put too much gasket sealer on something and plugged up an oil passage.

We've been going through the whole bike and finding things that needs attention. I knew this going in and wanted to find something that needs work, as long as the price reflected this. I will be going through the top end and taking it from a 88 to a 100, shorties, intake, etc. This is an injected bike, I will have to take it to get re-mapped on a dyno. I don't care for ferrings or windshields. On highway runs I wear a full faced, with all the fields and spraying they do, the bugs can be a bit much. My buddy has been working on bikes for some time now and I trust what he says. I don't like big shops, seen too many bikes that paid for services or repairs that was never made. Thanks for your comments, appreciated.
