  • Menasha represents Wisconsin Central operations at the turn of the century (Sept. 2000). It was inspired by a video showing the crew of a WC local freight closing a swing bridge over a canal to allow them to continue their switching mooves. The location was Doty Island between the twin cities of Neenah and Menasha in nortgheastern Wisconsin.
The area modelled represents a small island created by the Fox River and a parallel canal as they run into Lake Winebago.
The layout has been designed to capture the essence of the area with complicated track work and multiple industries in an area of 15feet by 2 feet. Track is Peco Code 83 and the crossings have been hand built on copperclad sleepers. A Lenz DCC system simplifies the wiring and allows two operators to run trains simultaneously. Points are operated manually and Kadee under track magnets can be slid into position by similar means to prevent unwanted uncoupling.

@abby canine Actually I don't talk while I'm filming. But because this was filmed during an EXHIBITION there were members of the public and exhibitors around me. Now i could ask them to shut up but that would be rude, a bit like your comment
