The biggest crime Frank Reich committed was taking the power run team that was built for the past 2-3 years under rhule and immediately pivot to that spread shotgun team he wanted. O-Line immediately suffered and fell apart. I do really like canales though, just listening to him talk is such a breath of fresh air over reich and rhule
Bryce young threw the ball a total of like 4 times under center in college and he completed 0 of those passes......we didn't run that offense because of Frank Reich bud ....
Sadly Frank himself on the offense play calling staff was a criminal mastermind all on himself. What is he good for when he's running a 90s style passing game especially in late downs, he calls routes that doesn't go beyond the sticks? It really is hilarious when teams who moved on from Reich chose his successors and have gotten better success with them.
Reich has a rep as a micro-manager & the fact that bad o-line play follows him lends credence to this. Why tf _ANY_ HC is tampering with the o-line is beyond me. All he can possibly accomplish by doing so is making the players lose respect for either the o-line coach(es) , the HC or all of the above because it looks like the HC doesn't trust anyone. Which brings us to the Bears. Eberflus does a lot of the same stuff Reich does & more. He practically sends them on routes instead of blocks. The only reason they're not rated worse is that o-line players aren't rated on blocks they don't attempt. I've watched Giant5s & Titans o-line plays. The Giants _do_ suck but even Evan Neal gets his hands on pass-rushers. The Titans are weak on the line & are easily overwhelmed. The Bears? They *actively avoid* pass-rushers th-cam.com/video/FiiK21VzI_o/w-d-xo.html.
I will say this as a Bucs fan. With Canalles, what you see is what you get. He never skips a beat and he is always smiling. People in Tampa thought he was hiding skeletons in his closet and was secretly a bad dude for the first couple weeks because of the influx of seemingly over the top happiness until they realized he is one of the rare cases somebody is genuinely that happy ALL the time. Systematically he has room to grow as most do but that’s not why he was hired after one year as an OC. He is a leader of men and is someone people want to gather behind, as much as it pains me I think he’s gonna do great things with Bryce and the Panthers.
Sure he'll do great things with Bryce and the Panthers. But not without a stable O-line and some talent in RB and receivers. Bucs had receivers/O-line around Baker to make him something like the 18th~20th best QB in the league. Somewhat similar with the Seahawks but the O-line was shakier in pass downs, had better runners and a very good 1-2 punch in receiver talent.

On the Effectiveness Summary, you had previously done Washington and gave them 32nd rush D and 17th pass D - it looks like that was probably the correct ranking for Washington, but not the Panthers?
I'm not saying we'll make the playoffs this year but I think the Panthers were better than their record last year and will surprise a LOT of people this year. Dave Canales is the guy and I they've seemingly made all the right moves on offense. I fully believe they'll be true contenders within 2-3 years.
If my calculations are correct and you’re going through all teams, all divisions, AFC to NFC, East to West, last to first.. should I expect the Bears episode some time July 16-17?
Geno was going after Drew Lock in the year he broke out because Lock was the presumed starter. Geno may have flipped Lock at the very end of the offseason but certainly at this time that summer
I really appreciate all the work you guys put in to help us trying and figure out a great draft strategy ... with the right coaches, personnel and scheme, Bryce Young could be a top 5 fantasy QB ... I guess we will find out this year if it has all come together
As a panthers fan, everything that could have gone wrong last year did go wrong. Bryce looked rough but also had no chance to look good, defense and oline got super injured. A few plays away from 5 wins. Only way is up.
I actually think for a lot of lifelong Panthers fans who are truly familiar with how this team behaves, there’s real optimism with this team. The Panthers have this weird thing, their average difference in wins from one year to the next across their franchises history is nearly a full win higher than the next closest team (Falcons, funnily). After every single great season they’ve ever had, they’ve crashed miserably. After nearly every single season of bottoming out, they shock the world the following year. They’ve made the SB twice, had a 15 win season, and STILL never posted consecutive winning seasons. By the laws of Panthers, this team will shatter even the wildest expectations of them in 2024, make the playoffs, delight all of NC, and then suck in 2025
6+ wins and looking competent on offense I would say there's still a chance to build something. 4 or less, especially if it looks ugly, you have to think we're rebuilding the rebuild
Team looks better. Only question is whether Bryce will work out. I’ve never been super high on the guy and think people are giving him too many excuses
I think it was alabama that made Bryce Young he doesn't have the arm strength but he does have good accuracy but the arm strength and size are too underwhelming for the pros it only looked good in college
Dave Tepper finally NOT meddling with football affairs? I'll believe it when I see OR hear about it. Hopefully Canales does find a way to make Young not the best player on the Panthers offense this season. Because he will need all the help he can get.
I feel like Tepper really liked the mentality of Baker, but not so much who baker actually is. So tepper gave the Okay to Can Baker. Watched baker flourish, or rise, or whatever other pun we want. And said I don't want a QB that'll headbutt helmets. I want the dude that made the headbutting helmet guy LOOK SMART. And that's the WHOLE reason Panthers got Canales.
In my opinion if you replaced the HC and QB with average or better proven commodities, people would be picking the Panthers to compete in the NFCS. The rest of the team is good enough and the rest of the NFCS is questionable enough. So that means I am pinning this seasons success directly on Canales and BY. Either the #1 pick and new HC elevate this team or they win 4-6 games. It is really hard to win less than 4 games 2 years in a row. Even the Browns have only won 3 or less games like 3 times in the last 30 years.
What happened to miles sanders? He was good and didn’t he get a lot of money and now they don’t even want to use him all that much? Just curious from a casual perspective
For the sake of the college QB at arizona, Noah Fifita, I'm rooting for Bryce Young, and for the sake of football fans everywhere, I am rooting for Xavier Legette. There is literally not another reason on God's green earth convinced me that this football team is worth my time or energy, even if they're head coach said General nice guy. Bryce and Xavier will have to be Matt Ryan and Julio Jones for this team to be in contention to win six or seven games.
I hope some of the toxic Panthers “fans” see this. They’re blaming all of the struggles on Bryce. All of them. And that makes ZERO sense. Anyone with eyes could see it was an overall scheme/personnel issue. Bryce was expected to work magic, but even magic requires the right combinations to work. Anyway, here’s to a better season… keep pounding!!!
If we give Lawrence a pass for the Urban Meyer year, surely we have to give Bryce a pass for last year? Jury is still out on him: he could be a bust, but he could still ascend. After last year I honestly have no idea.
someone has to have a floor of 2 wins guys and not everyone is going to improve. love to show but we all know what this is at the end of the day. there will be great teams but there will certaintly be bad with it.

I feel like a lot rides on Ickey at LT. If he can find his form and start showing the guy people thought he was becoming in the back half of his rookie year, then the o-line has a real shot to be very solid, and that’s gonna make everyone else look a lot better.
He is really solid it’s just Reich’s scheme really sucked for his playstyle. He’s a dominant LT in power and gun scenarios but it’s almost like he had the switch and become a pass rush LT, which is nothing like he’s ever done in his entire career.
If it's the right 5 or 6 wins, in the NFC South, it can make things... interesting.
even if we went 2-15. panther nation shows on every video and anything to do with the panthers bc that's how passionate this fanbase is to win. #KeepPounding
EJ looks so cool in this episode with those shades on 😎 Literally the coolest looking hes ever been on this channel.
I think they signed a receiver from the ufl also
On the Effectiveness Summary, you had previously done Washington and gave them 32nd rush D and 17th pass D - it looks like that was probably the correct ranking for Washington, but not the Panthers?
I'm not saying we'll make the playoffs this year but I think the Panthers were better than their record last year and will surprise a LOT of people this year. Dave Canales is the guy and I they've seemingly made all the right moves on offense. I fully believe they'll be true contenders within 2-3 years.
Canales seems like a good guy, I hope you have success with him.
If my calculations are correct and you’re going through all teams, all divisions, AFC to NFC, East to West, last to first.. should I expect the Bears episode some time July 16-17?
Bears are last, they are starting with the team that was last last year
EJ in shades gives Big Squirtle Energy
Can't tell got my hopes up last year I won't let it happen again
as a panthers fan i think a 5 win season with a handful of close losses would be a success. any more than that would be icing on the cake
15:00 "I just going to hang out in the owners' box and occasionally throw drinks on people. Erm.., I mean.., keep a low profile"
That statement at 3:25 is painfully true. But maybe its a good thing that noone has any idea what we've been up to lol.
Brett: But they needed to overpay for guards
I mean we did pay almost top dollar for 2 middle of the road gaurds
Damn, 😂 wonder if Tampa should have promoted Canalas to HC to retain all those coaches. Guess next season will be the tell
Insane title 😂😂😂
Brett giving the bull case for Xavier Legette's sainthood.
Ceiling 6/7 floor 4/5
Mevis is probably our kicker. The way eddy handled holding out for a new contract it seems like, not the way to do it when a new regime takes over.
I might cry this episode its ok, onto 2024!
By the laws of Panthers, this team will shatter even the wildest expectations of them in 2024, make the playoffs, delight all of NC, and then suck in 2025
Damnit. You guys got me optimistic for my panthers again.
I hope you are allready dead inside, if not, how are you planning to survive the season so far?
@@TimoNausch nope :)
@@Graymeechtrius Lets hope Week 4 goes as well for you as Week 3 did ;)
A ton of ex Vikes on this roster - Thielen, Smith-Marsette, Mike Boone, DJ Wonnum, TJ Smith, Junior Aho, Xavier Woods, Luiji Villain. Nearly 10%.
These guys exhausted the national supply of Kool Aid.
I think it was alabama that made Bryce Young he doesn't have the arm strength but he does have good accuracy but the arm strength and size are too underwhelming for the pros it only looked good in college
Do you guys think there is a role for Ihmir Smith-Marsette here?
This might be the most generous title for the panthers I’ve seen in some time
ok we hit the rock bottom (2-15) can we at least improve to 4/5 wins team? that's all i''m asking
We adding Travis hunter next year 🙏
YES YES YES! It’s here!
More exciting to watch this than any upcoming game this season😂
Back to regular length episodes this week😂
This is the most unexciting division in football
Nah, man. This ain't it.
It’s exciting because it’s such a shitshow
Had no clue Dom Capers was still in the league
Dave Tepper finally NOT meddling with football affairs? I'll believe it when I see OR hear about it. Hopefully Canales does find a way to make Young not the best player on the Panthers offense this season. Because he will need all the help he can get.
The title 😂😂😂
I feel like Tepper really liked the mentality of Baker, but not so much who baker actually is. So tepper gave the Okay to Can Baker. Watched baker flourish, or rise, or whatever other pun we want. And said I don't want a QB that'll headbutt helmets. I want the dude that made the headbutting helmet guy LOOK SMART.
And that's the WHOLE reason Panthers got Canales.
The Thicker Kicker has arrived
In my opinion if you replaced the HC and QB with average or better proven commodities, people would be picking the Panthers to compete in the NFCS.
The rest of the team is good enough and the rest of the NFCS is questionable enough.
So that means I am pinning this seasons success directly on Canales and BY. Either the #1 pick and new HC elevate this team or they win 4-6 games.
It is really hard to win less than 4 games 2 years in a row. Even the Browns have only won 3 or less games like 3 times in the last 30 years.
I'll be surprised if we even can beat 3rd Place in division
Keep Pounding
I honestly believe that we will win 8 games this season. I believe Canales will help Bryce out💯
It gonna be better than okay. Kp
26:13 jumpscare for chargers fans
The panthers knocked me out of my survivor pool because of the Houston game. Like how?
I don't even think the title is bad or wrong 😂 it's just that the media don't want to say it out loud, but we all know it.
I just want the pain to stop bruh
Dionte Johnson is only making 10 million via the panthers this year. The rest was paid by the Steelers.
Fair or not the entire Panthers fan base is going to turn on Bryce if he does not perform this year.
I knew this day would come. Please be gentle :(
We don’t know if bryce young is good or bad or not based purely on how bad the rest of the team was
Don't worry, us Saints fans are still laughing at The Falcons.
As long as Tepper is the owner this franchise is going nowhere
I think he’s slowly learning from his mistakes
@@ryanleadbitter7749I envy your optimism tbh
Same. It really does feel like Tepper is trying to take the mantle from Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones. Too involved in the day to day operations, and a total asshat to top it off.
Have to agree. Even if we have success despite Tepper, he'll hold fans over the barrel and jack up prices on everything
@@donjohnson5172 To be fair there are probably many NFL owners who are asshats. What some don't do is try put themselves out there to be the focus of the media. Jim Irsay in 2022 made that mistake along with helping hire a good friend of his in Jeff Saturday to coach his team.
As a giants fan, I kinda wish WE had paid some of these guys instead of burns. Sure sucks for the panthers they missed out of two 1s but the giants don’t benefit from that.
