Cam since you drilled the hull for the ram mount( big no no) consider putting feelers out or a fabricator to put a raised bracket for the transducer. Don’t drill holes in the transom for the transducer bracket.

    Nice little boat
We went from a similar battery set up to a lead acid after our jump pack got soaked and died. The honda is a good little motor had ours for about 5 years not super fast but economical and quiet. Ran from fishmarket reserve in Guildford to the Left bank running out just comming back up to the narrows. Using the same size tank as in your video with 3 of us in it.
Enjoy your new toy look forward to seeing how you like it out on the water.

Cam, you're a braver man than me to take a tinny of that size into croc infested waters! Knowing how crocs can launch themselves, no thank you! As far as taking Tiff and Chloe with you, well you've done the right thing to include them, but they'll only go once or twice and that'll be it. Riding the chop in the front on the way back from an outing puts most wives and partners off, especially when they arrive back soaking wet and cold from the spray! I look forward to your future outings with great anticipation. LOL Gary- Perth.

Thanks for the video due to i am looking at tenders for catamarans and just hate the blow up dinghies. So this is what happens on the cats is that you just need to be aware the aluminium will react to the stainless steel. May suggest try some suitable rubber inserts that will go through the hull with washers from Bunnings for the screws to be insulated from the hull. Also 316 rated bolts in salt water just rust less

Welcome to the boating world Cam
Your where I was 20yrs ago
I also purchased a stesco with flooring etc and was my first powered boat
It’s a great way to get started, as some don’t take to boating like I did
I did out grow mine after a few years and ended up designing and building my own boat
A few things I did to improve
I put commercial grade pool noodles under the floor as most tinnies float below the surface if they get swamped
The extra buoyancy was a safety precaution
I also place a removable seat with back rest after hours of fishing
I would put the battery in a pelican box as salt spray will destroy it
Don’t get caught out in bad weather on the ocean or near reefs on a big swell had some heart stopping moments
Your fishing results will certainly improve congratulations

Hey Cam, you should be able to mount the transducer out of the water, pay no attention to your waterline stationary, the transducer needs to be in the water on plane to keep you depth reading on the sounder. I bought the same Lowrance for my boat. there is a really good drawing in the box on where to mount, and you need to pay some attention to the direction your prop turns in forward gear, that will determine the best side of the transom to mount. Great seat covers, rekon you should make sure them tin holders work with a stubbie cooler on 🍻🍻

I love how diverse the aluminum boat market is. For you Aussies on the coast, tall free board and deep v hull is the epic choice. For us US boys in the mtns, we run modified v hulls with jet outboards. Our boats are used like 4wd in water. Rocks, trees, shallows... no worries, just gonna send it. There’s nothing like a 4x4 and an aluminum boat.

    • @chrisroberts3963
      @chrisroberts3963 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Well in Colorado and western states it’s all about the freeboard. We get these big winds off the mountains with big waves so a deep v is key. But here in the states all those boats are 16’ and longer. The Aussies got it going on with deep V’s below 16ft.

Fun fact, a fair few of these aus tinnies are the exact same boat just same under different brands and models. Quntrex, stacer and savage are all made by telwater. They make them difficult to compare so that people don't notice they are exactly the same.
