    In my opinion, it would only take minor tweaks to make Russell Westbrook a championship point guard.

      Y'all played phenomenal and I don't want to make it seem like i'm downplay it, but the fact that Russ was able to keep them in the game was ridiculous. LMA was having a career night, and they literally started the game 14/14 from 3, with a couple of those being late shot clock contested heaves that just went in.

      ZerpHerpDerp that limits his game a ton, If he can get an efficient 20-25 with less 3pa then thats perfectly fine, he’s not a John Stockton/Steve Nash type point guard, the best thing about his game Is his ability to score and getting to the basket

    • @buenvidanadz1969
      @buenvidanadz1969 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      15 pts is kinda low for his caliber. He's way too atheltic and he's really known to be a scorer around the paint. I don't think his bball iq would ever improve but i think he may just have to lessen his 3pt attempts, just maybe

    • @ZerpHerpDerp
      @ZerpHerpDerp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@buenvidanadz1969 he's known for his scoring at the rim, but it isn't actually elite. it would still take him 10-12 shots per game to average 15 points, which would be fine if he applied himself to his 2 man game with adams, making the right passes and defense. The reason his bball iq gets so little respect is directly caused by his play hard attitude causing him to throw up bad shots. If he refocused his efforts, i'm sure we'd see an improvement on that front.

    Westbrook’s issue is he gets baited into shooting bad shots, if you watch him at the three point line he will stand there and the d will sag off (aka baiting him) and being Russ he shoots it and the d closes him out and he usually misses the shot. This happens so much during the games and it is destroying his shooting percentages. He needs to start shooting 3s when he is wide open and play within the offense. He is trying to hard to be curry (as you said) and isn’t being himself. If he would just shoot the right shots his game would improve tenfold. But of course this is just my opinion.

Look at the Thunder history y'all. 2010 - Lose to Lakers who go on to win the chip. 2011, lose to Mavs who go on to win the chip. 2012, lose to Heat in Finals, they win the chip. 2013, Russ gets injured, KD loses in 2nd round. 2014, lose to that amazing Spurs team, they win the chip. 2015, KD gets hurts. 2016, lose to 73-9 Warriors after blowing a 3-1 lead. Even in the 2012 finals, most of the games were really decided in the 4th quarter. Russ is clearly capable to be a championship point guard, I mean if you took Steph off 2017 Warriors and flipped him with Russ, literally nothing changes lmao.

Bottom line he's improved and matured alot this year but he still (as u said) has to work on his flaws more

His decision making has improved, he’s picking his spot on offense, he’s maintaining his rebounding numbers except this year they are really effecting the pace of the game (OKC is 4th in pace this year, traditionally they had been a slow iso team), and most importantly he has FINALLY chosen to be a all-defensive team type player like we all knew he could be.

You could tell even with his days playing w KD he nvr really trusted his teammates late game. I think it's changed a lil these past few years w pg. I think PG can unlock that championship Westbrook we've all been waiting for.

      Most NBA fans are just retarded. He literally said in an interview a few seasons ago that he never knows his stats because he doesn't check them during the games, so he can't be a stat-padder if he doesn't know his stats.

    Hopefully for him he will keep playing that way. He is one of the most natural gifted player ever. The problem I have with him has always been his decision making, especially in the clutch. If he keep playing efficient and making good decisions. He will at least go to the WCF at best win the Title.

      Yes man. He's having his worst season shooting the ball but it won't last. He'll improve. Why are you focusing on the negative part of his game and overlook his advantages and skills as a player??? 21-11-11 with 2.5spg, leading the league in assists, steals and Defensive Rating while also taking a back seat to allow PG to shine and that benefits the team. He's the most athletic explosive PGin the league now and of all time and he plays with an aggression and passion to the game and has that fire and competitive nature in him which match the mental features MJ and Kobe had known as MAMBA MENTALITY. Also he's loyal to the city of Oklahoma and to the game of basketball. My point is that he's an NBA superstar and that we should acknowledge and respect the incredible things he does to the NBA. Yes he has flaws like any other human being. But we should overlook them and instead we should appreciate his GREATNESS

    That is what makes MJ the GOAT. He KNEW when to give it to Kerr and when to take THE SHOT.
    That is what ia keeping Russ from reaching that superstar potential he has. He wants to be the core of the team in the winning moments by having the last shot, and it is by giving it to someone else the way that you become a Legend rather than a forgotten MVP...

    Finally! Someone speaks the truth. Been saying this all year. This is the most positively impactful season in Russ’ career.
    And yes, without a doubt. There’s still improvement to go, starting with those 3s.
    But there is another reason imo, when russ takes it to the rim he rarely gets the foul call. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen him get smacked in the face and didn’t get a call. That’s part 1. Part 2 being ever since the nba changed the rule about walking to half court and back russ has been struggling with free throws. Free throws are mostly mental, and when you change your routine it changes you. So I think with those 2 factors, he’s settling a bit more.

    I would reverse that, he's more of a shooting guard playing point. I think Russ will start figuring it out once his athleticism starts to slide a little bit. Russ is such a great athlete that it's also gets him into trouble that he relies on it too much. It trumps the mental aspect, but he's starting to figure it out this year. You got to give him credit though because he's been playing out of position since he got into the league and has had an excellent career up to this point

    Dom, I think ur awesome, but I think ur videos and takes would be so much better if u used advanced stats. True Shooting percentage is a great stat bcs it accounts for the extra pt when shooting a 3 and a players free throw %. Looking at stats like that, rpm, per 100 possessions, etc would improve your content a lot. You can use basketballreference.com to see a lot of rly good stats.

    These are the types of games that make us love AND hate Russ at the same time. Hear me out. We love these games cuz it shows how Russ isn't as selfish as we paint him to be, and he makes all the right reads and decisions. But we hate these games cuz it's like "Why can't u have these kinda games more often Russ?" Meaning, not takin too many shots, takin the smart shot, knowin when ta shoot and look for teammates, realizing the assist is just as important as the bucket bein made. I personally live Russ as a player and his energy. I just wish he would have more games like the Spurs game more often. Not takin too many shots and realizing the best time to shoot

    If we could get this Russ all the time, making smart passes, finding his teammates, not forcing the ball to them, slashing when he has good angles, trying on D all the time, not jacking up terrible, low percentage long 2s and 3s that he can’t make, I agree, Russ would be a championship caliber pg easy. Until then, I’ll curry, cp, and Kyrie. But I’m so glad he’s finally on the right track
