- Got some new tunes form RYOBI! I do a quick and dirty unboxing using my worx zipsnip.
All and all it’s a decent system, a bit bass heavy and lacking in the highs. I’ll be doing a speaker driver upgrade in a future video.

This radio (or if you choose amongst dozens of tools they offer) is free if you buy the $99 two 4AH batteries with charger and bag kit. This review has me convinced to go get it (The double battery kit and the radio all for $99)

I bought this radio about two years ago. It just went out. I had the smaller Ryobi radio before that and it never was any good. Before that I had the blue version and it was a very good radio. I am convinced they engineer this stuff to last a short time and go out so you are forced to buy more junk and most of the old junk ends up in the land fill. They realize that once you buy into this stuff it is hard to switch brands because of the investment so they take advantage of you. I have been using Ryobi for a long time, and some of it is good and some of it is junk. Overall I have found the old blue stuff was better made and I still am using most of it. As far as the newer stuff not so much. I have had several batteries going out within a couple years, bad radios as described, a couple bad chargers and all involving stuff manufactured within the last five or six years. I really get tired of being taken advantage of by the junk that comes out of China, and reviews that involve people who have just bought things and have not really even used them.
I hear some of that old blue stuff was decent. Some of the newer stuff is much more powerful but probably not built as well. I give my options on things no matter how long I’ve owned it. Thanks for the comment subscribe for more!
Tim I agree with you. My dad used to have the blue radio. We used that thing everywhere and it got such great reception no matter where we were. It didn't have the modern day Bluetooth capability but had the aux cord if we ever needed it. Unfortunately we got hit with rain while out fishing one day and the radio got a little too wet and quit. So we both got one of our own new green versions of the same radio because we liked it so much. Well we were both very disappointed. I rarely use it for it's radio capabilities because it has such bad reception. It's primarily used as a Bluetooth speaker so we don't have to deal with the reception issue. Sometimes we can get good reception, then out of the blue after maybe 10 minutes it will just fade to pure static, it's awful. We both bought ours around the time when that new model came out so I hope it's been improved since!
What are you talking about Milwaukee, DeWalt, Ridgid, Makita are all made in china as well so Milwaukee stuff is junk?

I have this radio and the small one. Though it doesn't sound as good, I actually like the small one better, plus if you like talk radio, the AM tuner on the small version is more sensitive.
Thanks for the tip! I was actually on the fence on which to get. After I mod this one I might pick up the small one just to have something more mobile. Do you know of they use the same size speakers?
@@EveryDayJay415 I don't know if the speakers are the same size or not. I remember a long time ago someone had the larger radio dissembled on TH-cam, perhaps you can do a search - if it's still up.
Correction: It may have been the P745 I saw taken apart, I don't remember, but here is a link to the P74.

I have this radio. It worked great until last week, called Ryobi and they are replacing it.

Everyday Jay it just stopped working. Everything turned on, but it stopped picking up radio stations.

Is this FM/AM capable or is it solely for playing music from a Android/iPhone?

Can you turn on the speaker without the battery plugged in? It wont let me
If it’s plugged into the power cord, are you talking about the AAA batteries or the 18v? Not sure about the AAA. But you need either 18v or extension cord to power it.
Does this radio have a stronger signal strength than the small one
I don’t one that one yet but I’ve read it’s stronger.
Does this radio pick up am frequency better than the smaller radio
I mostly use the bluetooth but this radio seems to pick up more stations than the smaller one.

Did this radio get discontinued ?
It seems to be in an out of stock but Ryobi did make an updated version. You can still find it online and it is still a good radio.

Holding the mode button allows you to change the treb & bass. It’s amazing how you learn things from the instruction manual. Just picked this up from direct tool for 42 bucks

@@EveryDayJay415 I actually have a lot of RYOBI products (not the radio though), and the fan is my favorite. It too, has a plug for electric operation.

Don’t buy this product the buttons wear out in less than a year then you can’t even turn the piece of shit on

A few days after I bought the old single speaker radio I saw they made 2 new ones hahah. I’ll probably keep my eye out on that model though. Have you tried it?
@@EveryDayJay415 yes it works great just doesn’t have a radio that’s the only thing that sucks about it but you can get the radio station on your phone
