    If you stick your sticker sheet on your Cricut mat, it helps hold it down so it’s not shift all over the place while you’re putting the laminate vinyl on.

    I really enjoyed this video and found it helpful! Usually I like applying the laminate sheet over the entire piece of paper, then covering the registration lines with matte scotch tape. Even though it adds an extra step, it doesn’t require me to precisely cut and line up the laminate sheet inside of the lines, and the scraps that get cut off the edge aren’t good for much else anyway. The laminate sheet is also usually a little bit bigger than the 8.5 x 11 piece of paper, so the edges stick to the cutting mat and allow me to get more life out of an old less sticky mat. ☺️

    To bypass the sensor not being able to read the guidelines due to the glossiness, you can add a piece of matte tape over the lines. Having said that, cutting the vinyl down before cutting it on a Cricut, can also save unused material waste as well.

    Nice video. If the stickers don't cut all the way thru, can you press the go button again before removing the mat? Could that cut the mat by doing that? Or if you pick a setting that is too heavy for the paper, will that cut the mat? Thanx for the info.

    • @AngieHolden

  • @jackieward66

    Can you do a thru cut with the laminate added after? Just wondering how that would work if you were gifting the sticker to someone and they would need to backing on the whole sticker but the laminate wouldn’t have a backing - just the actual sticker? I hope that makes sense.

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would probably do a through cut on the laminate. Apply to sticker. Then add backing to the entire thing.

  • @Leena79
    @Leena79 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for a great video! I never thought of using the clear sticker as a laminate, and I've been searching everywhere online for actual laminate sheets to buy, only to find that in Europe, the best brands are sold in 50 meter rolls (which is a lot of laminate for a small sticker side business).
    I have a question though: Wouldn't it be easier, for the weather-proof sticker, to first cut the sticker sheet without the laminate, and add a box around the sticker area, leaving the registration box, then remove the surrounding sticker, add the clear laminate on the whole sheet, and then cut the whole thing again? Instead of adding the laminate on individual stickers? Anyways, I'm going to go order the clear stickers now, so I get to try this method. 💗

      @@AngieHolden so would that setting maybe work if I wanted to do a through cut? I like to add stickers as freebies in my customers' packages, so I need to do the through cut for those.

    Applying the laminate over the individual stickers doesn't leave much room for error!

      No it does not! Not my favorite way to do it!

    Cricut's packaging is very confusing >.< Not only do they keep changing it, the labeling is very cryptic. I ended up getting white vinyl with holographic laminate. The only other package they had was one that said transparent, however, there are two kinds of transparent product. Transparent vinyl (no white background on the sticker) or, Transparent Laminate (white vinyl background with transparent laminate), they are both labeled exactly the same, but the SKU is different. Someone at cricut needs to be fired over this. The BIG issue is that the one that has transparent vinyl (no white background) actually shows white background sticker examples on the packaging, making one believe they are getting a white vinyl. Luckily I'm printing butterflies for someone and the holographic laminate is going to work out just fine in the end.

    Laminating a sticker sheet is not making WATERPROOF stickers. That is making water resistant stickers. Huge difference. Laminated stickers should not be advertised as waterproof. Truly waterproof stickers can be run through the dishwasher, put on a truck or a kayak, etc.

    These methods are way too time consuming if you want make a lot of laminated stickers to sell. I have a faster simpler method. However, although I add a slit for peeling my stickers in the back, there is still the danger of the customer not seeing the slit and peeling the laminate off thinking that's how you're supposed to peel them. I'm looking for ways to make laminated stickers secure from having the laminate peeled off.

    I only made it 35 seconds into this video because my misophonia was flaring up due to the stickiness of her mouth. Cute stickers and I’m sure it would have been informational but the irritation was mounting. Maybe swish water in your mouth before filming to reduce the sticky saliva.
