- I have been asked tons of times if you can make sublimation stickers. You have this amazing sublimation printer now so can you use it to make stickers? Up until recently, I didn't know of a way that this would work. But I found a product that does allow you to make waterproof stickers with your sublimation printer and a Cricut machine! I know you are going to love the way these stickers turn out! If you are a sticker maker, be sure to watch this video and consider using this method to make your stickers as well!

I really dislike having to watch a video to learn something. When I googled how to do some thing, I really just want to be able to read because I have never found a video that wasn’t painful to watch due to all the unnecessary chatting or explaining of things, or whatever. This video was perfect! You covered everything in enough detail, so that it is understandable, but yet didn’t go into more detail than necessary. I have subscribe to your channel and look forward to watching more.

Thank you so much!! I’m new to this & I have sublimation ink & I just wasted 15 sheets of sticker paper because it wasn’t coming out bright. I just ordered different brand of sticker glossy paper thinking that’s the problem but this helps so much!! Glad I don’t need to buy a new printer

That's a great way to make stickers, I usually laminate them first with UV laminate and then cut them to make them waterproof. I used my maker 3 and it read the registration lines. I have never done sublimation for stickers, Thanks for showing me how.

For regular stickers…What if you want to cut the stickers all the way out for individual stickers. What setting would you use.

I would try medium cardstock them move to heavy if that doesn't work!
A hack for the explorer Air 2 I saw was to tape matte tape onto the sensor itself when cutting something shiny and glossy. I tried that and it worked out well for me.

can you explain what you mean by this
The matte tape you'd use to tape over the cut lines of a glossy paper, use that to cover the sensor head instead. It works the same way to reduce the glare. But you'd use less tape.

I loveee this idea and video! Thank you so much I have NEVER done stickers of any kind whatsoever. I have a converted sublimation printer and Cricut machine. I already ordered the sticker paper you recommended but i saw it was a good bit of a shipping charge that ended up adding quite a bit to the overall charge.
My question is: is the products they sale on Amazon like the Alva Vynil sticker paper for jnkjet printers the same as this type of paper? Or would it be a different process. That way if it is possible to just pay the product price and not also shipping plus taxes at the end.

You can use sticker paper on a REGULAR inkjet printer. If you have a sublimation printer, you would need to follow the steps outlined here.

A printable vinyl is used with an inkjet printer.

I’m just bummed today. I ordered and received my new Auto Press and after many tests and a call to Cricut it turns out it is defective and I have to return it!!

Hi there. Great video. I am new to this world. How would I make stickers with a back to sell individually? I’m guessing that would be another type of sticker paper?
You can do a through cut on these instead of a kiss cut. Just pick a thicker cut setting.
I've been needing waterproof sticker paper for a Forest Animals puzzle that I cut in my Glowforge Aura. (we all know how small kids put things in their mouth). I only cut the silhouette of the animals and now I'm wanting to put the animal sticker on the wooden silhouette pieces. My question: Do I need to mod-podge the wood before I put the sticker on it, or can I mod-podge over the sticker? Thanks Angie! You're da best!
I think mod podge over the top would be fine.

The sticker paper has to have a polyester content and not all of them will. I can't say any particular sticker paper will work.

Any sticker or magnet sheets have to have a polyester content to work.
What if you wanted to go ahead and cut through the backer to have them separated to store them differently? I’ve got ideas for if and when I get a sublimation printer again and just curious 🙂
You can just use a deeper cut setting.
Do you use a CMYK or RGB colour profile in procreate before putting it into the cricut design space to print? ☺

I have a question? I just bought an epson printer and i don’t want to add the ink until I figure out what I should do. I want waterproof labels like your video but for shampoo bottles. Was using a regular printer then laminating. Background is black then I use laser printer for foil. My question is would I follow your video to do my labels with sublimation ink or just the ink it comes with because pigment ink is also waterproof? I’m lost but I know I want my labels how these came just unsure if ink will matter if both are supposed to be waterproof. Even though I laminated, water still bled through
You can do it either way. I will say that you probably won't get a label that will last indefinitely in a shower.
Did you try clear or transparent paper paper too? What is the best temperature?
I only tried this paper.
What would be the best cut setting when making individual stickers?
If you want a through cut, probably a heavy cardstock setting.
Can it sublimate on any other vinyl, did you try and what Is the best or similar to this vinyl because I live far away from USA and can't find this vinyl just "regular" (Oracal, Avery etc)
I have heard some Oracal versions work but I have not tried it myself.
If I dont have artestrix paper, can I use parchment or butcher and is this type paper also resuable if no ink gets on it?
You can use butcher paper. It has a tendency to yellow from the heat so I don't get as many uses out of it.
So am I correct in thinking even if the image is mirrored when you print it, and then turned back around when you sublimate, the cricut will still cut the stickers out correctly?
Correct.
What cut setting would you suggest for a die cut sticker?
I would go with heavy cardstock. That should do it!
The paper will curl... but will it become flat if you lay ut flat and put some heavy object on it ?
And will this be a better way to make stockers, than using a inkjet printer to print stickers directly?
This is mainly for people that ONLY have a sublimation printer. There are many great sticker papers on the market for inkjet printers and that would be a much easier way to make stickers.
Excellent video. Angie, if you want to cut the sticker backing paper as well would you recommend recutting before releasing the mat from the Cricut? I’m thinking if I wanted to make individual stickers to hand out. Thanks again for sharing your talent
I would just do a thicker cardstock setting. Medium would probably get it!
How do you get the thick black line around the print mine does 4 half triangles around the 4 corners I am using the cricut maker.
This is the old print then cut. The new just has the corners. It will work the same.
Can I place these on tumblers? Wondering if they’ll hold up to regular hand washing with soap and water 🤔
I don't think the adhesive is strong enough to hold up very long.
What kind of heat press do you use? I’m new to sublimation
I have a Siser heat press, Cricut AutoPress, and various EasyPresses.
Hi Angie. Got a question. I use white paper, my designs are white but when I use the ecotank, the background comes out kinda dark and I don't like it. How can I get it to print white background?
Just don't have any color on the background and it will not be there.
Is there a benefit of using this sublimation process vs just printing them on a waterproof glossy sticker paper with a regular printer?
Nope. Some people have been asking for this as they only have a sublimation printer.
Would you say these sticker sheets are as strong as Oracle 651 Permanent vinyl?
No I don't think so.
I have a small question and it might be silly.
Im looking to make stickers, however my printer is A4 and the sheets your link takes you too, only provides 13" x 9" in size.
Is there somewhere else i can purchase these from? Im in Australia

Which product is better for waterproof stickers? Sublimation or printable vinyl? What do you use to spray to make uv protected?
I wouldn't do sublimation but probably a laminate sticker.

Hi? When we wash these cups with these stickers they should be able to stay correct?
These would definitely be a hand wash only as I wasn't super impressed with this adhesive.

Also you can sublimate on oracle 651 vinyl. Is there a specific reason you used this sticker sheet instead?
I don't know of any other vinyl you can sublimate on but I haven't tested any options. You have to have polyester content in the vinyl in order for this process to work.

What type of tape do you recommend to use if the cricut can't see the registration marks? Does it matter what colour the tape is?
Should be clear tape with a matte finish.

Is it UV stable? I have been using sublidecal to make sublimations stickers, but it is not UV stable, looking to make some for car decals.
I am not positive on that one!
Can it be used to wrap a tumbler or cups?
Yes you can use this on a tumbler or cups but they are just stickers. The adhesive on these wasn't great so they would not last long in wet conditions.
Did you test if they were waterproof when stuck on something like a water bottle?
I did not.
So the paper you have listed below isn’t the “brand” paper. Does it work just as well? I just bought the sublimation printer and in that video you suggested the brand yet it is hard to find.
I am not sure what you are asking? For sublimation paper, I like Asub and Hiipoo for my EcoTank.
Can you explain how the cricut reads the guide box? Im confused on how the cricut machine actually knows where the out line of the stickers are
It is using a camera to see the guide box.
Is there any other source that heat transfer warehouse for the sublimation stickers paper? Shipping to Canada is a lot :(
I havnt found this sublimation sticker paper yet in Canada, but did find subli decal and I THINK it’s essentially the same thing.
This is the first product I saw like this so I am not sure who else is carrying it right now. My guess is products like these will become more available over the next few months.

I wonder if you could just use regular sticker sheets? I wasn't able to find sublimation sticker paper on amazon jist normal sticker paper. I am only able to use Amazon to buy my supplies 😔

Hi, I have tried to make some sublimation stickers but after I have sublimated onto the sticker paper and come to cutting it on my cricut maker 3 the cricut is cutting it in its original position which is not matching the image. Do you have any advice please? Thank you ❤

Okay so you print on a normal piece of paper, then heat press it on a sublimation sticker paper and then the cricut cuts it out?
You have to print into sublimation paper then heart press it to sublimation sticker paper
You print on a sublimation printer with sublimation ink on sublimation paper.
So I tried this and my cricut maker 3 cut the prior to mirror shapes if that makes. Like I mirrored it (my stickers have writing so I have to) then after I sublimated it, it cut what it would have been before sublimation. So the mirrored images. Does that make sense? Help!
You need to mirror in your printer settings NOT in Cricut Design Space.

Hi again I have an issue with making my own stickers. I used copy paper first of all because I am out of butcher paper at this time And I hoping it’s okay to use copy the only problem I’m having is keeping the copy paper still. I did what you said I used hippo matte sub paper and oracle 651, And taped them together and pressed them for 380 for 30s and the melted together. I was devastated I don’t know what I did wrong they didn’t even turn into stickers.
I could not peel them apart they ripped
I haven't tried this with Oracal 651. I have heard it works but I have not personally used it!

How you get your stickers to be that size, my cricut doesn’t let me do it that big ?
The print then cut size has changed over the past year and is now much larger.

What I used was sublimation sticker sheets that yes are vinyl.
Can you use normal printer paper I’m getting low on my sublimation paper?
It is usually not as bright as when you use sublimation paper so I do not use copy paper for sublimation printing.
I tried this method and my sticker sheet melted using 380 for 30 seconds. I'm using the AutoPress. Do you have any other recommended settings that I can try?

Using the sticker material I link here? You do need a special sticker material.
Could you use those on glass ware.
These are not super permanent so I would not expect them to hold up in like a dishwasher or something.

I messed up or missed a part I put my sheet to mirror printed it sublimated it and put it in the cricut Face up like you and it cut it out mirror way so nothing lined up please help :(
Be sure to mirror in your printer settings not in Cricut Design Space.

Did you mirror the cut too???
Once you mirror then press the stickers are back to where they should be for cutting.
I have tons of printable sticker paper for ink jet printers any chance I can get away with doing this with that printable sticker paper
It may or may not work as it needs a poly coating to work.
Can I make a car decal using this method ?
