The stringers in my kit were not flat. The table surface had more than close to 3/4” crown. It’s impossible to flatten the table when the stringers are warped. I would look at the arcflat table from Langmuir.

It's a great table! Check out my other videos on welding table shelf... and welding table clamps! :)

Brother, thanks for the video, glad to see you cover everything I was interested in. Not to Preach but if you've actually got a TIG setup you'd have been better off practicing your TIG Skills on the weld out.. That many welds would have your skills much improved. Clean up a few mistakes in the beginning but then a whole bunch of practice and only minimal grinding . I know you were ready to gitter did though. Good Job👍

When I made this video, I don't think I even had my tig welder unboxed :) I knew I could gitter done with the mig, and was worried I'd mess something up if I used my $500 welding table to practice on :)

Nice job...have you seen the videos where they use the same clamps you're using and instead of bolting across one rib...they place the u bolt diagonally across the point where the two ribs intersect and thereby put clamping pressure on both ribs at the same time . Not sure if that will still give enough pressure to pull the center of the ribs tight to the top since they will be more or less at the ends of the ribs where they intersect and not in between...hope that makes sense.

That’s really the correct way. Also, the slots in the ribs are weak spots, and the cross members should be welded together from top to bottom, as the ribs bend at those points.

Too many guys don’t understand that the top tab, slots are supposed to be TIG welded so that you don’t have to angle grind the welds down. If you need to practice TIG welding to get it right, then take the time. The table, if done right will last a long time, and if not done right, will also last a long time. But if not done right, it won’t be what it should, all that time.

I am about to buy this table but welding the table from the top and then using a grinder to smooth out the weld doesn't sit well with me at all. That table looks nice and smooth with just the tacking on the bottom. As a welding noobie i am really concern about accidentally overgrinding. 🤔I think what i will do is just put a bunch more tackies on the bottom and call it a day, lol.
I think they should offer customers other assembling options such as fasting the top down with "Flat head hex socket cap screw" via counter sink holes in the top. The screw head thickness would be slightly less than the top. It may cost more to make these welding tables i guess but they could offer this at a higher cost to the customers.

I did do a bunch of tack welds on the underside of the table..... but if you watch their assembly video, they never do that.... they just use the clamps and weld the top of the tabs & slots on top of the table to hold it....
Don't be afraid of grinding too much.... get a decent grinder, and use some flap wheels.... works great :)

I thought only the bottom was to be welded cause welding on the top makes it no longer flat. Even with grinding it’s not flat anymore…? Or am I missing something?

Great video! I’m about to pull the trigger on either this one or the 24” x 36” version. If you had it to do over.......what, if anything might you do different or suggest to someone in my place who’s about to order a table. Just as an FYI.....I will not be purchasing the leg kit as my top will be mounted to an electric lift table (with its own casters) that elevates from approx 20” to almost 48” in height with linear actuators and the flip of a switch so as to set the working height according to the task at hand. Any input appreciated and thanks again for taking the time to create this video for our benefit. Thanks

If you can tig weld it together, that will be cleaner… I love having the welding table! I use WD-40 on the table top to keep it rust free. Check out another video I put together of how to make your own welding table clamps for only a few dollars each!!

The way that table top came to you with everything already in position, why wouldn’t it come to you already tacked down?

Good question ;) Every video I've seen of anyone setting these up, it came in pieces.... Really it only saved me 5 mins I think laying it out :)
