There was a company in Australia (Elliot Engineering I think) that started building these tables back in the early 90's. They were a copy of a Demmeler table and looked virtually identical to this table. They called them "KwikJig" tables. I purchased one in 1996 and at the time, it was a pretty significant purchase for me (around $10K) I was a little worried at first if it was going to be worth the price. After using it for a month or so, all my fears were gone. It was by far the best purchase I ever made. The speed and accuracy that you can fabricate on these tables is unbelievable. You are going to love this piece of equipment. Accumulate as many clamps, twist locks, angle plates and attachments that you can, you can never have too many.
Im a 19 year old welder located in Snowhill NC and been in the welding industry for 2 years and I have never seen someone work like you, you have some insane fabrication skills.👍🏽
Seems like an exciting career … there are so many ways to go things to learn .. if I were young again , I would learn all I could about welding , from welding to the technology the science the engineering etc lol You sound like you are off to a good start. Keep welding !
Especially those smooth chamfers across the jobs, be it inside or outside, diameter, square, rectangle, or oval. Simply keep on admiring the skills. I don't think these are taught in institutions.
Loving your channel more and more. What a lot of people don't realize about being a "welder", is that welding is the easy part. When you learn how to do proper fitting, fabrication, and being able to visualize and build something offsite, and then assemble onsite, that is what sets a person apart from other "welders". In my opinion, you've nailed that and beyond. It's been about 15 years since I worked in a welding/machining shop, and I can sure notice that I don't think how I used to when I worked in that environment. You really get into a different frame of mind, and way of thinking, that most people will never understand. Keep the videos coming man, not only is your workmanship great, the editing is as well. Very enjoyable to watch.
An awesome table. I used to look at a Ferrari with this same kind of lust... but now that I've been there, done that, and I'm older , wiser, and retired, I can appreciate the quality of material and build in your new welding table. Hope you are enjoying it and making some good money with it.

So this is my first time running in to one of your videos. Im not one that likes to subscribe to every channel i like or am interested in cause i just don’t want to have so many channels i don’t pay much attention to. So I’ve been watching for exactly 14:13 and I’ve already subscribed. I cannot believe how efficient you are at prefabrication and setup all the way to finish product. You sir are a dying breed. We need more channels like yours and more fabricators like you in this country. Looking forward to watching more of your videos and learning your style of work. One day i will have all that nice equipment and tools you have but until then i will do what I can with what I have. 3 points of contact is my current method until i have a nice flat table like the one in this video. Table aside, that's the best welding video I've ever seen. I'm just getting started with a MIG 135, and that gear and technique is amazing to me. Thanks!
You could not have done that job efficiently without that table. I bet you didn't swear once! I had to build a bifold gate (1.8 m high, 4 panels about 0.8 m wide) to replace a heavy one (110 kg) that was broken in my driveway. I couldn't get anyone interested in doing the job so I bought a AUD 250 welder and a really hilariously small welding table for AUD 150. I had never welded before. Having a table like yours would have made the job so much easier. I got it done and it was all square and the hinges were perfect. I can open and shut it with my finger it works so freely ( I reduced the weight to about 50 kg). I did get a practical lesson in the banana effect and I just got the angle grinder and cut 2 of the three horizontal bracing straps and got my scissor jack in and just gave the structure a gentle Newtonian tickle and tacked it, tested the fit and movement and then went full gorilla on the final welds. That would never have been necessary with a beautiful table like yours.

Thanks man I really appreciate that.....not sure how I feel about the optrel, its nice but alot of small plastic I'll probably break it and its about useless outside even with the lowest sensitivity it flashes from the sun. The htp propulse 300 is hands down the nicest mig ive ever used the pulsed spray it pretty awesome. It was hard to fork put the cash for the table at first but I'm really glad I did and the shipping from China really wasn't that bad.
Just found your channel or should I say it landed in my que. At 60 years old I’m new to welding. Picked it up when I couldn’t find someone to build my two gates. With my new Miller Multimatic 220 and a few Fireball squares I built those two gates. Wife was real happy too! Sub’d, liked and learned some too. Thanks!

Ditto. Me too. The wheeled stands caught my eye. I work alone too and there are times it’s not easy turning over or spinning big or heavy gates etc. He’s clearly someone who tikes pride in his work.👍🇬🇧 I subbed too.
I've always used the anti spatter spray and very little sticks to the table and even the occasional bb that does comes right off and doesn't damage the table pretty impressed with the nitriding

I covet the gadgets that you used to make the hand rails. After building handrails for 25 years it would have been nice to have some of those! But that table though! WOW! I always love when people complain about our prices. If they only knew how much we had to spend for quality tools, just so they can get a quality product in a timely fashion. Time is money, and so are good tools. That being said, I love your set up man.
I am certain it has nothing to do with tooling. I am a designer and every country, state, whatever has the same costs for tooling. And the idea that it has to be US made to be a quality piece is nonsense. Where the increase in cost occurs is corporate profit, not labor or materials used in production.
I do alot of railing repair and basic railing and it keeps me busy. One thing I can say you have a great set up. It seems in our area people don't understand how much time, equipment, and materials to make it happen.
Bro its the same with all the trades. People think I'm hosing them to try and make a decent wage. I ain't retiring off this one job I'm doing for you, sir. Just trying not to lose money in the process. The money I have invested in my meager shop and equipment and tools and consumables and insurance and everything else is staggering. /rant
Enjoyed the video apart from the music that was close to torture. The table is a real treat, but for doing handrails seems overkill unless you churn out twenty similar pieces a month. Here in California I used to work in the sweat shops making handrails by the mile. They would sometimes build them on dirt. The price per foot was so low that no fabricator would touch a railing job. Now if you fabricate complex items for the oil industry, than this is the right tool for sure. Hand rails do not require accuracy. Anyway I subscribed today. Greetings from Brittany France.
Great video and weld table was what drew me in 👍👍 But I know you know and sure that hundreds of people have mentioned it but might want to start using gloves even thin ones just for the UV protection. I have used sunblock but way too much grease and slippery to use . I have had a LOT of places cut out and had cancers taken out because welding. Or another thing is just get a $10 a month cancer policy it's well worth it . I had the cancer policy and was actually paid more from the policy than my out of pocket so It would have paid for the table anyway if you don't want to wear gloves 👍👍 I am new subscriber to the channel keep up the videos
Gotta agree. Because we love, wear the glove. That's the worst type of UV you are getting and it's far, far more that you could ever get from the sun. Do it for your kids, if not for you.
As a standing seam roof specialist, tell the owner to get the roof seams double locked. Shallow pitches do in fact have water infiltration when ice builds up on them. I’ve seen many leaks from this with 25 years experience in cold climates. Awesome work.
Nice Table and Nice Railing! There is a simple mod you can make for your Ellis to cut those (sharp) angles perfectly. Weld a plate adjacent to a pc of sq tube (90 degrees) then just clamp plate to Ellis fence. Now you have an intersecting fence that you clamp material to. Make a left and a right. Flat plate needs to be flush on blade side and plenty long on other for clamping. Also it's a good Idea to a weld a pc of fb on bottom to shim up. Cheers!
@@Darnic-Fab I wish I had your plasma table! The link might work now-but basically you weld a pc of flat bar to the end of approx. 24" long pc of square tube 1-1/4 square or what you have lying around (capping) it and hanging fb off to one side long enough to use your Ellis material clamp to hold it in place. You can then clamp the material you want to cut -to the square tube to get more than 45* Its an adaptor that enables you clamp (the material you are cutting) 90* from where you usually cut it.
That table trolley lifting jawn is pretty damn clever!! That railing turned out amazing, well done man. Im sure the table and tooling made it a bit easier to square up. Great buy that tables gonna make u money.
How much was all of the customs costs ? Kovosu got back to me with the price info in a few hours after I emailed them. I'm in West Texas and my port of entry is Dallas.
Working for a local fab shop in Sweden 2 mil usd rev and we do the same kind of projects except they have not invested anything in making the experience easy and precise for the workers. All the fun in these projects is the idea of being proud of what you have built but without proper tables and tools the job becomes a pain in the ass. We use old rusty H beams as work benchs lmao

I am all about spending my money local but like you said in your case West Weld, you are saving roughly 50%. Money is to hard to come by unless you bust and break your ass working 20 hours a day. I get it when local companies need to make a profit and all but if you can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars, you have to do what you need to do. Ever since Covid started everything has jumped in price. Now some companies need to raise their prices to sty afloat but others have just raised their prices out of greediness.
Its flatter than I can measure accurately i have a 4 foot starrett straight edge and can't get a shim in anywhere....I had to mess with the extentions a little before I tightened the bolts buts easily aerospace flat everywhere.....he gives you his tolerances and at least with my table hes well within those
I have a much lighter version table of this table. Its not a Kovosu but being able to fix all your parts in position without laying any tacks just changes everything. Every dimension can be checked and adjusted. And if you have more than one item to make you want the fast repeatability that a fixture table can offer. Its not until you use one that you realise how good they are.
Did it pass inspection? Usually the ballasters need to run vertically so they don't form a ladder for children to climb over the railing to pass inspection.

I see you have or had a big cast iron acorn type welding table. Did you replace with this one? Why did you opt for metal vs cast iron? Are you able to do plasma cutting over the top using stand offs? Thanks for your help!!
I live in Germany so I bought a Seigmund table. It is much more flat than what they spec'd it at. The tooling package cost more than the table. It is the most used tool in my shop.
That is my biggest complaint with seigmund tables , I think they are really nice and I don’t think the tables are too overpriced but the tooling prices are too much, I don’t think it should double the price just for tooling
Always enjoy seeing investment in quality tooling and fixtures, years down the line when your still nailing fast accurate works, there will be a knowing grin as these tools accompany you on your journeys. Enjoy the films man.thanks

I like the table mounted rolling bar you made super smart idea that's gotta save so much time for a one man band. I use my back hoe like a second person almost every day so I am always looking at ways to do a multiple man job solo. and I am going to go look at the milwaukee storage boxes you have that is very cool way to sort every thing and have quick access to it! thanks for the video and hope all is well!

That table is a freakin’ beast! I only invested in a small tab and slot 1/4” thick fab block. For just home DIY things it is just fine. I was able to get it too. 009” flat across it’s top I’m sure your table is flat all the way across….

Having seen kovosu pricing, he's actually got less than $10k in that table believe it or not! they are high quality at a very attractive price point compared to seigmund

Just got the evolution chop saw and I put it on one of those collapsible miter saw stands just like i saw in one of your videos, think you took the video down but that was an awesome idea. It works good for me cause I can just fold it up and put the saw in the corner somewhere outta the way. Wicked fab table btw 👌 I got a chunk of old catwalk grating for my fab table lol, hoping to change that soon.
@@westweld right on! Galvanized eh, that must have been stinky to weld on. I got some old bridge steel years ago and made a skid for my trailblazer 302, got so sick after cause there was like an 1/8" of galvanized on the channel lol I try to avoid the stuff now.

Nitrided welding tables don't have to worry about welding spatter.

I do alot of railing repair and basic railing and it keeps me busy. One thing I can say you have a great set up. It seems in our area people don't understand how much time, equipment, and materials to make it happen.

Just trying not to lose money in the process. The money I have invested in my meager shop and equipment and tools and consumables and insurance and everything else is staggering. /rant

Enjoyed the video apart from the music that was close to torture. The table is a real treat, but for doing handrails seems overkill unless you churn out twenty similar pieces a month. Here in California I used to work in the sweat shops making handrails by the mile. They would sometimes build them on dirt. The price per foot was so low that no fabricator would touch a railing job. Now if you fabricate complex items for the oil industry, than this is the right tool for sure. Hand rails do not require accuracy. Anyway I subscribed today. Greetings from Brittany France.

But I know you know and sure that hundreds of people have mentioned it but might want to start using gloves even thin ones just for the UV protection. I have used sunblock but way too much grease and slippery to use .
I have had a LOT of places cut out and had cancers taken out because welding.
Or another thing is just get a $10 a month cancer policy it's well worth it .
I had the cancer policy and was actually paid more from the policy than my out of pocket so It would have paid for the table anyway if you don't want to wear gloves 👍👍

Gotta agree. Because we love, wear the glove. That's the worst type of UV you are getting and it's far, far more that you could ever get from the sun. Do it for your kids, if not for you.
As a standing seam roof specialist, tell the owner to get the roof seams double locked. Shallow pitches do in fact have water infiltration when ice builds up on them. I’ve seen many leaks from this with 25 years experience in cold climates. Awesome work.

Got a cast iron welding table exactly like this. Recovered the cost in a single job. Best shop investment I ever made.
Nice Table and Nice Railing! There is a simple mod you can make for your Ellis to cut those (sharp) angles perfectly. Weld a plate adjacent to a pc of sq tube (90 degrees) then just clamp plate to Ellis fence. Now you have an intersecting fence that you clamp material to. Make a left and a right. Flat plate needs to be flush on blade side and plenty long on other for clamping.
Also it's a good Idea to a weld a pc of fb on bottom to shim up. Cheers!

The link might work now-but basically you weld a pc of flat bar to the end of approx. 24" long pc of square tube 1-1/4 square or what you have lying around (capping) it and hanging fb off to one side long enough to use your Ellis material clamp to hold it in place. You can then clamp the material you want to cut -to the square tube to get more than 45* Its an adaptor that enables you clamp (the material you are cutting) 90* from where you usually cut it.

Working for a local fab shop in Sweden 2 mil usd rev and we do the same kind of projects except they have not invested anything in making the experience easy and precise for the workers. All the fun in these projects is the idea of being proud of what you have built but without proper tables and tools the job becomes a pain in the ass. We use old rusty H beams as work benchs lmao

I am all about spending my money local but like you said in your case West Weld, you are saving roughly 50%. Money is to hard to come by unless you bust and break your ass working 20 hours a day. I get it when local companies need to make a profit and all but if you can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars, you have to do what you need to do. Ever since Covid started everything has jumped in price. Now some companies need to raise their prices to sty afloat but others have just raised their prices out of greediness.

how flat is the table w/ the wings? any humps where they drilled the holes or welded the tubes?
Its flatter than I can measure accurately i have a 4 foot starrett straight edge and can't get a shim in anywhere....I had to mess with the extentions a little before I tightened the bolts buts easily aerospace flat everywhere.....he gives you his tolerances and at least with my table hes well within those

Awesome fabricating. I see you use Fireball tools, so what did you not like about Jason's fixture table?
I have a much lighter version table of this table. Its not a Kovosu but being able to fix all your parts in position without laying any tacks just changes everything. Every dimension can be checked and adjusted. And if you have more than one item to make you want the fast repeatability that a fixture table can offer. Its not until you use one that you realise how good they are.
Did it pass inspection? Usually the ballasters need to run vertically so they don't form a ladder for children to climb over the railing to pass inspection.

I live in Germany so I bought a Seigmund table. It is much more flat than what they spec'd it at. The tooling package cost more than the table. It is the most used tool in my shop.
That is my biggest complaint with seigmund tables , I think they are really nice and I don’t think the tables are too overpriced but the tooling prices are too much, I don’t think it should double the price just for tooling

I like the table mounted rolling bar you made super smart idea that's gotta save so much time for a one man band. I use my back hoe like a second person almost every day so I am always looking at ways to do a multiple man job solo. and I am going to go look at the milwaukee storage boxes you have that is very cool way to sort every thing and have quick access to it! thanks for the video and hope all is well!

what flatness tolerance are they rated too?
Very flat….. mine is less than .002” out in any 4’ span ( my largest precision straight edge is 4’)

That table is a freakin’ beast! I only invested in a small tab and slot 1/4” thick fab block. For just home DIY things it is just fine. I was able to get it too. 009” flat across it’s top I’m sure your table is flat all the way across….

How do you clean weld splatter out of the holes ?
Just got the evolution chop saw and I put it on one of those collapsible miter saw stands just like i saw in one of your videos, think you took the video down but that was an awesome idea. It works good for me cause I can just fold it up and put the saw in the corner somewhere outta the way. Wicked fab table btw 👌 I got a chunk of old catwalk grating for my fab table lol, hoping to change that soon.

@@westweld right on! Galvanized eh, that must have been stinky to weld on. I got some old bridge steel years ago and made a skid for my trailblazer 302, got so sick after cause there was like an 1/8" of galvanized on the channel lol I try to avoid the stuff now.
