If they made an update and were honest and open about their current situation, most backers of a Red Joker game would be understanding. I am also more than willing to make additional, small contributions to both campaigns as a backer myself. Perhaps there's a poll you could do King, testing the waters on this question? I think others would be happy to help. They offered a great price from the beginning, so happy to pay some more for an amazing game.
AND now Mythic games is openly selling their overstock of 6:Siege while there are tons of us who paid $360 dollars and have nothing to show for it! Its truely insane.
I doubt any of the people that has payed the contribution to get their pledge delivered would have enjoyed seeing people that have not payed the contribution getting their game either... selling overstock seems to be the only sensible thing to do (and it's not even a "new" thing since they basically did the same with DD too).

LSG is definitely on my "heavy doubt" list. I really want StormSunder and Wild Assent to materialize, but I have no clue what's going on over there. Fortunately, I only backed Wave 1 of Stormsunder. I guess we'll see what happens.

The worst part is Stormsunder looks to have potential to be one of the best dungeon crawlers ever made.
Wild Assent an an outstanding boss battler variant.
Both games look amazing. I went all-in on both.. Sold my original Wild Assent when they launched Lavon Rising. =(
Do you plan on doing any more investigation into this subject? Maybe you can get us an answer that differs from what they posted nearly five months ago.
You haven't posted any videos since this one, and I think they owe you an actual answer since you helped promote their KS. Did you back Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Earth?
I think one of their biggest problems was offering all the Cycle of Water content at the same time. Now production for all games and expansions is likely much more than expected.
Agree with some comments here. The factual information you said, was mentioned last year briefly in an update.
Very sad that no new info is given. I hope we get our game.
Updates are essential. The campaigns that frustrate me most are when the devs go silent. It's 100% in their control and literally the least they should do.
If they aren't providing the information, folks will create their own and assume the worst!
One clue for avoiding this: honorable companies don't start another kickstarter (or other campaign) until they have fulfilled the last one. Any company with multiple unfulfilled campaigns is a risk for never delivering anything. They don't have to be intentionally dishonest like Mythic Games; there are many other ways for it to all go bad with multiple open campaigns.
I think most people know Lazy Squire Games and Koliba Games are going to be the next Mythic sadly.
Asking for more money is reasonable considering how much Covid did factually increase costs
If LSG could finish Stormsunder then maybe I could believe it. No they won't get far on their current track.

Honestly if I can get my all-in Wild Assent for an extra I prefer to pay than lose everything...
Are you going to cover God of War? Is the campaign on GameFound a flop by CMON standards? Seeing a lot of complaints (E.g., no gameplay videos, rampant shipping, paid stretch goals) and only 2k supporters out of 20k followers. I’m personally disappointed in how the campaign is being conducted as a fan of the video games!
I'm disappointed by practically everything about the GoW campaign. I did like the minis, but some of them are looking pretty distorted lately. TBH, this is one of the laziest campaigns I've ever seen (there is literally no physical prototype after two years of development, only 8 scenarios, only two enemy types and one boss per scenario, only four tiles per scenario, very limited moves, minuscule skill tree, loose tokens used for tracking health), and it's just putting along at 330K after five days,. I'm sure that CMON expected over 1million by now, but at this rate it won't even hit 1 million.
Thanks for an update on this. I both hoped and knew this video would be about The Red Joker as soon as I saw the title. I've backed Cycle of Earth, having discovered that and Cycle of Water from your videos on them, so am definitely hoping they manage to eventually deliver on their current projects.
As you've mentioned, the lack of communication is definitely the most frustrating thing. TRJ suddenly not updating on projects for many months, no longer replying to KS comments, no longer replying to people contacting them (either for refunds or queries), cheap Okko stock appearing at a UK retailer is only going to make people worry about the situation.
Hopefully TRJ can learn from this and become more transparent and improve their communication about their current and future projects.

Agreed! The #1 difference I find between backers being overly understanding and not giving a company an inch is the quality and frequency at which they receive communication.
Your "update' is exactly what they said in their last update four months ago in December. So they have been "negotiating" for at least four months (TBH, negotiations should have been finished by mid-2023). At the current rate, it's going to be 2 years late (if it even delivers at all), delivering sometime in mid 2025. Somehow it's better for us backers to remain in limbo, wondering if we will ever get the game rather than tell the truth? You have to take the bad with the good, and when they screw up this bad, they need to own it.
I know one thing, I will never back a game from The Red Joker again, and I will warn my friends.

@@TheKingofAverage It looks to me like they just shined you on by telling you nothing new, just what was in the last update on Dec 12. I suggest that you re-read that update, compare it with what they told you, and investigate further so we can get some actual new news about the situation.

My theory is that they are having trouble finding production partners because they made the mistake of offering every single Okko Chronicles past game and expansion in this new campaign, so now they can't find an affordable place to make the new game and expansions plus the old games and expansions. This game only funded just under 200K
Well, it's July, and they still haven't posted a single update about this project in 2024. Safe to say that Red Joker took the money from this campaign and ran. This will be my first (and hopefully only) KS that turned out to be a scam, since going forward I'm only backing CMON. People can hate on them all they like, but at least they deliver.
Kickstarter, really needs put in new policy polices that money is going towards the project that is being promoted.
and making companies agree that funds gained from a project can not be used to fund development or production of unrelated products, with publicly viewable financial reports so backers can report anything fishy.
And a cut down of how many projects a single company is allowed such as 2 unfulfilled projects across all categories..
I am concerned. I went all in on the KS for okko chronicles but had to request a partial refund 18 months ago. I got the refund, but they also cancelled the rest of my pledge! Ive been talking to them for the last year trying to get it sorted, but they've been silent since November. I don't understand why its so hard for them😢
Why won't you follow up this investigation and get some actual new info? I have left several messages here on this video and you've ignored all of them except to say "UGH, really?" You didn't give us anything new, you just told us exactly what they said in their last update SIX MONTHS AGO. It's like you didn't even read that update before your "investigation," and here it is two months later and you haven't followed up or shown any concern. I'm a fan of yours, but you dropped the ball on this one and it hardly qualifies as being an "investigation" or an "update."
Some French dude in the comments section of their KS page found out more information than you did, and all he did was look at their public balance sheet. Here's the translation of what he found: "If we look at the company's balance sheet: 0 employees in 2024 and negative results in 2023 and probably 2024. It smells like bankruptcy..."

Honestly KOA, i find it hard to believe your perspective sometimes. Why is it a good thing they replied to you so promptly? It just goes to show how available they are, and how much they are ignoring their backers. Its just damage limitation.
It's good because it means a communication problem, not an abandonment problem. It's good because it means I have more information and it's not just guess work.
No updates is bad, and a third of this video calls that out :)

"Still looking for production partners" is exactly what they said in their update 4 months ago. As a backer of Cycle of Earth (partly due to your videos about it), I was excited to watch this video to find out new information, and I'm disappointed because there is no new information.
You support them with videos about Okko Chronicles and their previous campaigns, you support them in your videos for Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Earth campaign, and they disrespect you by shining you on with a regurgitation of their last update, which was over 4 months ago. Someone needs to get on this and do some proper investigating. I'm hoping this will be you.
As a Cyber Odyssey (and ALtar Realms) backer, im pretty sure Okko will come next (if): KS was more successful, the IP is well known and im pretty sure that, if they need $$, it won't be that much. Whereas Cyber Odyssey well, im not sure if it will happen. If you take a look, they want back and revise the entire game (i think they even changed the name to Cyber Verse or whatever) and, to this day, i just saw images and prints of the components.
Can we get some Cysmic coverage? Looked awesome to me last time it was on KS, now it'll be on gamefound in a few weeks!

It's July and they're still radio silent, they have multiple unfinished campaigns up, and supposedly the company is circling the drain. We aren't getting our games friend, sorry.
Just got Alter, like 2 weeks ago. Didn't back the other games they made, so for me the updates were fine. From personal experience, lack of updates actually means their doing stuff while more updates means spinning plates. Look at Mythic had Updates every month insisting things were fine, then everything went to crap.
Lazy Squire Games (LSG) is the one I'm worried about. When I discovered your channell I took a deep dive into your back catalogue and saw your review of Wild Assent and the Stormsunder Campaign. I was seeing social media posts about the pledge manager closing and got in a couple months before it did, thinking they were close to completion of wave 1 on each and they were a good price point for what they offered. I know you've touched on them before as a we'll get them when we get them.
I now worry the company will deliver anything at all. As someone who backed soley for the miniatures to use in othe games (5e) every update with new gameplay teases or reworks is a kick in the teeth. It feels like there's no movement on the miniature side, and when questioned on just delivering the wave 1 miniatures and sending the books later they revealed they weren't all done yet.
I see them working on STL files for other companies, Mini Wargamings Ravaged Star and Scott Taylor's Legen of the Keepers. I feel like that is keeping them afloat but also slowing their own progress. I hope should they fail they will at least release the STL's for what they've made to backers.
If you could get any word from them, why they are taking so long, why the miniatures aren't done, what hope there may be and cover them again I'd appreciate it. All we seem to get is, 'I know we are late we are working on making it so good it will be worth the wait.'
Yours is the best channel 👍 I was a late pledge for Cyber Odyssey so boy am I regretting it now, but good that you managed to get at least some traction from them. I'll carry on living in hope.

At this point I feel like I dodged a bullet on LSG and Red Joker, as i was really tempted on there games. Too bad i got burned 3 times by Mythic
I just want to point out that unless you have an established relationship with your manufacturer (factory in china) like say CMON. You are going to struggle. Anyone who is paying attention to the chinese economy and current social/financial situation is going to see gate prices are tanking where at one point china was seeing DEflation. In short, if you have 4% inflation, you can make that in profit every year if you manage costs. Deflation means you costs are higher and your products sell for less. Many factories in china are shuttering. People in china are NOT spending money like before and shops are closing especially ones based around factories.
What I am trying to say is that if you have a game company and you are doing regular business with a factory, you can get things done. If not, you are going run into production/cost issues or even price increases during production to where your items 'may' be held hostage. The clock is running down on manufacturing in china. Its only a matter of time before the chinese get sanctioned (like they are not indirectly being so now) for working with russia.
These things have an affect on gaming. I am glad I am phasing out of the crowd funding hamster wheel of diminishing returns.
Any people with access to discord or patreon know whether KoA is ok? There was an update about him being a bit unavailable but that it was getting fixed, then there were some more videos but now silence for 3 weeks. Its just curiosity and concern that makes me ask :)

Refunds have stopped a year ago sadly, they know they will not deliver and have stopped offering refunds.
They are not going to refund like Mythic. I requested refund 6 months ago, not a single reply.
I don't think they will go bust but they sure poured all their resources into the Collab with miniwargaming since that was successful.
I'm just wondering if funds are directed to delivering ravaged stars. Fingers crossed.... Mwg's new project most likely gave them a hug cash injection

Far from a Mythic game situation… yet. Although, to avoid those accusations they just need to communicate with their community and be honest. It will do them good regardless of the situation.

Yes, they bamboozled us. Multiple unfinished campaigns, no communication on Okko in over seven months, and the company is struggling. They aren't going to deliver.

maybe.. just maybe... this whole business model of crowdfunding games has outgrown its potential.. and it is time for backers to recognize it and move on to other fields.. like playing the games they bought and creating communities around them to invent content of their own.. free of charge.. with the items they have.... looking to zombicide... the french community especially... which means... there is less of an issue of backers losing money.. and oh, yes.. less of a thing to talk and hype about... because most campaigns would garner much less attentention and hype if they would not be featured and talked about on various media... paied or not... this is something really worth considering... how much are we overhyped by the presence of this business model in our media feed...

Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Water and it's expansions are available for purchase at many places. We're talking about the latest KS campaign, which is Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Earth. The only thing that might be available for this game are pre-orders, which won't ship until after the game delivers to backers.

@@chunkcurtis85 My only experience other than Red Nails was an order from their webstore. They sent me a box that had a hole gouged through it (clearly shipped this way). Most of the boxes were slightly crushed due to being larger than the box they were shipped in, causing the shipping box to be bulged out.. They told me to contact their North American shipping hub--both ignore emails.

The dark quarter is still new reletive to kickstarter board game deliveries and Godsgrave just ended. They are doing great no obvious issues to worry about. Update complete, was there something specific?
Literally the first person I've heard try to throw Lucky Duck under the bus🤔. They seem pretty reliable and I don't recall them taking a crazy amount of time or go radio silent. They're pretty consistent with their updates.
Plus they develop a load of stuff straight to retail, they're not entirely dependent on crowdfunding.
I hope Okko makes it. I live the comics and the game and besides that it would be the 3rd KS i wouldn’t receive (Judgement, Dark Eye NL).
I stopped backing anything and just hope all the stuff i have still open delivers.
