Hearts 3x the size, swollen intestines, inflated lungs, etc. These days, it's actually a death wish to become a professional bodybuilder.

This is a treat! I had no idea Ahnold had the privilege of working with legends, such as Lucy and Art Carney! Actually....Ahnold held his own! I am impressed.

True. All the People that say he had no legs are only thinking of the 1980 Mr. Olympia Arnold which was his worst shape ever. He only trained for 2 months before the contest(still in amazing shape for only 2 months. I wish I could look like that). But Arnold had big legs from 1970-74. The Arnold you see winning 1975 in Pumping Iron was smaller than in '74 because he retired after the '74 contest to get into Hollywood and slimmed down because directors told him to. He changed his mind and came back out of retirement in '75 to star in Pumping Iron with only 3 months of training.

Andreas Rasmussen Sorry. I worded it wrong. You are correct. He NEVER stopped lifting weights. But after the 1974 Olympia, Arnold did shooting for the film "Stay Hungry". The director told Arnold to slim down to 210 lbs. He lifted LIGHTER WEIGHT and increased his cardio. He dropped from 245 lbs to 210 lbs. For the '75 Olympia, with only 3 months before the contest, he started lifting heavy again. He didn't put on the same amount of muscle as 1974(his biggest and best physique ever) but still put on enough muscle to win the contest.
He is Arnold S. X Mr.Universe, X governor of California,movie star etc. This video is 46 years old. He was in his twenties when this episode was filmed.

Hearts 3x the size, swollen intestines, inflated lungs, etc. These days, it's actually a death wish to become a professional bodybuilder.

Arnold's physique was PERFECT.
Arnold Schwarzenegger physique back then was great, but believe it or not, in the BB competition it was not perfect. Only one man in the world received a perfect score. I forgot his name tho.

arnold was my idol as a teenager…at 16 he inspired me to become a marathon runner..i read in a magazine that he said, you only know if you've done a good workout when afterwards you feel like throwing up,,..lol
Arnold is an icon, he was the only bodybuilder actor around in the 70's and 80's so he made a lot of memorable things, even in Japanese shows, anime and video games they will reference bodybuilder characters who look like Arnold with the same face features or the iconic sunglasses. He was there at the right place and the right time and that's why he's an icon.

Besides the Hercules in New York, this is his first acting role released, only know about this, because I'm reading 'Total Recall', and it is an inspiring book! I have to meet this man!
He also had a very minor role in the movie "The Long Goodbye" in 1973: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Goodbye_(film) . Not a great movie, but not so bad either.
I'm trying to watch *all* of the movies that Arnie has appeared in, but I admit I'm cheating a little by just watching this clip of "Happy Anniversary and Goodbye" and not the whole thing ;-) So far, I only have one or two movies left... until "Maggie" and the new Terminator movie come out.

I think it mentioned it in the book, but not him in it. I would have to say, that Collateral Damage, and Sabotage were his obscure roles, and not his best. CD he wasn't acting like his usual wisecracking, bad ass self, and Sabotage was extreme language, way violent, and not in his normal role again.
badazzboxer Yeah, I so agree! Sabotage was just a mess and Collateral Damage felt like a much less fun version of his other action films. I just watched him in The Expendables 3 and that was pretty disappointing too.

This must be the biggest i've ever seen him. 1974 he was at his best. In pumping iron from 1975 he stopped training hard for about half the year because of some movie obligations. He was so ahead of his time it's crazy
Jonas Lindell he did not just stop pumping.. he was under the gun to shed about 30 pounds.. all the way to 210 lbs... so he ran half marathons and did tons of cardio to do that

True. All the People that say he had no legs are only thinking of the 1980 Mr. Olympia Arnold which was his worst shape ever. He only trained for 2 months before the contest(still in amazing shape for only 2 months. I wish I could look like that). But Arnold had big legs from 1970-74.
The Arnold you see winning 1975 in Pumping Iron was smaller than in '74 because he retired after the '74 contest to get into Hollywood and slimmed down because directors told him to. He changed his mind and came back out of retirement in '75 to star in Pumping Iron with only 3 months of training.

Andreas Rasmussen Sorry. I worded it wrong. You are correct. He NEVER stopped lifting weights. But after the 1974 Olympia, Arnold did shooting for the film "Stay Hungry". The director told Arnold to slim down to 210 lbs. He lifted LIGHTER WEIGHT and increased his cardio. He dropped from 245 lbs to 210 lbs. For the '75 Olympia, with only 3 months before the contest, he started lifting heavy again. He didn't put on the same amount of muscle as 1974(his biggest and best physique ever) but still put on enough muscle to win the contest.
