This version has nothing not to like… great vocals by Elton, the harmonies are quite beautiful, the instrumentation is marvelous. The song itself is a jewel. And the vibe in Central Park on that day was joyous. I wish I were there, but at least I can appreciate it now on video.
Yeah, for certain...was just thinking his voice is probably at its peak in his career around this time... just so strong...and his piano playing is just friggin stupid good...
interesting to think that John Lennon may have been watching all this from his brownstone window or at some point to of been in the audience but at the time of this video it is in reality that he was still alive and well and in the heart of life
These performances at Central Park in the 80s are no doubt my fav ones. Sounds fantastic. Outfit on point. Can really see how handsome Elton is. Crowd amazing. Everything is just good in these concert videos there. So peaceful.
TH-cam time machine takes me back, again. What wonderful years they were. As I grow nearer my end I appreciate the little things so much more. Be peaceful.
My family is on this, the balloon that says Elton loves Mandi (my niece) sadly my sister and niece have passed. We were part of history, when life was simple... 250,000 people enjoying music in the park.
I love this song. It reminds me of my aunt Jeannie. And I thought this particular concert. Elton's voice was really strong and well rested. I wouldn't mind having this show on DVD with the others I have on DVD. :)
So just finding this tonight. Playing it so it will stay in my mind all night. I’m in love with this song and I’ve never seen EJ look more handsome. That part, “I’m so in love, I’m soooooooo in love,” gets me in the feels every single time. I want a love like that.
My all time favorite musician at the absolute peak of his considerable talents!!! I've seen Sir Elton live four times bet 1988 and 2022 and he was at his apex during the summer of 1980 at the Central Park performance before a half million fans.
Please please please perform this song live AT LEAST one more time. I dont think it has been performed since 2000 "one night only", it is such a great track and it deserves to be played among with many others of Eltons more underrated songs.
Agreed. I'm not sure why he doesn't perform it anymore, it was a #2 single in the US after all. It's only been played on his 1980 tour, and at the "One Night Only" concerts in NYC and the warm up concert for that in 2000.
Legendary performance, this is the best version of this song. Elton John and his musicians deliver an incredible performance musical and vocal. I could listen to this song over and over again.
Elton's 1980 tour is definitely my favorite. This is a great performance of Little Jeannie...it sounds so much better than the studio recording. It would be nice to hear this one played on the Farewell tour....
His voice is NOT ruined.Just because he doesn't sing falsetto anymore? His voice when he sang this as well as his voice now is beautiful. He 's lucky he can still sing and perform as he does today. Be grateful.
We saw him a few days ago, & I just realized with all his AMAZING SONGS , WE STILL STILL SHOULD BE AT THE PERFORMANCE, Elton in concert is AMAZING at 72, couldn't image him in his 20's.
Essas músicas que nos fazem voar sem sair do lugar... Sinto um aperto no peito. Saudades de um tempo que nunca voltará. Felizmente temos artistas como Elton John para nos confortar e manter essa lembrança boa na mente.
Such a phenomenal voice this man has love this song singing the words got me through many a painful night concentrating on the words made me forget how much pain I was in ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very few, and I mean VERY few can sound as good live as they did on their studio recording. He actually sounds better.... I have chills up and down my arms....wow.
A good song makes thinking travel, feeding the imagination with chords, and rhythms that touch our emotion ... Good times. Beautiful music and great video. Thanks
Elton rarely performs this song for some strange reason, this 1980 tour and One Night Only as noted below. It sounded great with a Saxophone (john jorgenson) in ONO. Probably no chance he will ever play this song, he gets very stuck on his setlists and rarely changes. Same with "Nikita", for some reason he has forgotten this song too.
Elton said this is a nice little song but it doesn’t perform well live..so that’s why he doesn’t play it live anymore..I personally think it’s one his best

Elton has been quoted as saying that, while it’s a “nice little song”, it doesn’t perform well live. I subsequently found this concert version and would utterly beg to differ!
Maybe he thought it sounds thin without the horns? I think this version is very good. You’d think Elton would know by now, all he needs is a piano and a mic, the band, although excellent, is not required.
Huh? He said what?🙄 Well he's also songs he thought were terrible & didn't want to release ended up being hits .... Silly, I thought it as because it wasn't written by Bernie.
A time when there seemed to be more love in the world. God I miss those days.
Oh,..me too.
I do believe Elton John took advantage of the gift God gave him.

That live version was just plain excellent.
Love the backup singing.
Best song he ever did. ..how beautiful. Classic
