I really wasn't an elton john fan until i heard this a few days ago and i have been rocking it multiple times a day... Much better than the recorded version
The madman across the water album is something else. Every song is so good! You should check it out. And since you like this live performance you should check out his old grey whistle live vids.
This song is over 50 years old....some younger people don't even remember Michael Jackson's Thriller video from 1982!!! There are ppl from Gen Z doesn't know anything about real talent I think. Elton John defined the early 1970s....❤Love him forever.
This is Sir Elton johns finest performance of this song! Far better then studio recording. Very musically tight. Bravo 👏

My Gran would dance with me in the living room to this song when I was a toddler. Is an absolutely precious memory for me. She passed last week and it has been on my playlist constantly since. An amazing memory
Sooo sorry about your grandma passing! Such a precious memory and awesome grandma you had. May she rest in peace and know she is still near you and watching over you! ( : 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
This particular song etched out a memory and moment in time dating back to when I was kid. My sister was babysitting me and we were walking through a baseball park behind our house, the baseball park where I later played and became a minor league star 😅. For some reason, all she talked about that summer afternoon was crocodile rock and Elton John. I think she was in love 😍
Several years ago, I watched the Sir Elton's film, " Rocket Man" with my friend of mine. Very interesting! Some people say, " I don't like him". but I am a big fan of him! Now he retired? He has brought us many entertaining music and performance! Special Thanks, Sir Elton! 🎉🤩✨😂
There was nothing better than actually living then and doing just what he's talking about, play this for your grandparents and watch them smile and sing along with it
Random, dumb factoid: this was one of the very first times Crocodile Rock was played (it was only debuted live the prior month (September 1972, and this was from October). Since the track was so new, the band was still working it out live, and Elton had, to this point, sung the third verse by himself without any of his band doing harmonies. Given that this recording is from the London Palladium (a big deal venue) for the annual Royal Variety Performance (a big deal television broadcast) and that they were going to be doing a pro, multitrack recording so as to make it sound as good as possible for television broadcast, the band wanted to do the song as close to the studio track as possible; thus, drummer Nigel Olsson, a pretty great singer in his own right, volunteered to do vocal harmonies -- these harmonies (when they were done, which was not regularly) would later be taken over by any combination of Davey Johnstone, Dee Murray and/or backing singers. The gig was famously a miserable experience for the band (Elton later quipped that the audience was full of "the most dreadful people imaginable"), and the band was hassled pretty much up until showtime to do Your Song and Rocket Man. Needless to say, it was not a very joyful experience, but Elton's rather exuberantly joyous reaction at 2:41 is due to being so happy with how the harmony sounded; presumably one of the few bright points of the gig for him!
One of the first rock songs I ever heard. So it has special place in my heart. My young innocent soul like the fun and joyous feeling of this song.I love Elton Johns 1970’s catalog Of work.Legend as we should all agree

Another Great Elton Performance! LIVE!
I will never stop loving this man, he was the soundtrack of my life
Same here
Truly a super star, saw him play at wembley stadium in 74 absolute magic. When he sings its part of your life.
Me too..
Mine as well!- ELTON 4EVER❤
Elton, I adore this song, what a song, love it, love it. Love it. Forever, what dances, what parties, and so up beat.
I really wasn't an elton john fan until i heard this a few days ago and i have been rocking it multiple times a day... Much better than the recorded version
Watch the Muppet Show episode starring Elton John, you'll laugh a lot!
Some people really like to knock old Elton but he really has done some blinding stuff. It comes naturally to him and he is honest enough to say that.
My favorite of his. I was 10 yrs old first time I heard it. 🐊❤
The madman across the water album is something else. Every song is so good! You should check it out. And since you like this live performance you should check out his old grey whistle live vids.
Because The La la ra la laaaa
Very classic song from the 70's Elton John is a legend in the music industry
sums it up
Love the movie, so accurate from what I remember
Yet Rolling Stones doesn’t even have him in the top 100 musicians but ironically put the stones at 4 lol
Sometimes you’ve just got to hold your hands up and acknowledge sheer talent. This guy and this performance are awesome.
Raw Talent!!
Banging keys and voice on point!!
All time best legendary piano rocker only trailing behind Billy Joel by 2
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Yeah. That's exactly what - GAY.
@@darkstarmoonshadow He's better than Billy Joel though.
There is not a single live performance of Elton that I dislike. Same with Freddie Mercury. Some guys just were born to perform.
So true. Two of the best performers
RIP Mike, I love you my cousin. You told me in the 70s that Elton John was going to the top. Boy were you 👍🏼! God bless you ✝️
I have always loved Elton John. I have been a fan of his since I first heard him sing. He is one of a kind.
My favorite Elton John song .
Listen up kids....this was real rock n roll!!!!!
Thanks
Sure was! It’s such a shame people aren’t required to have talent in order to be famous now like they were back then.
It was also better than same shit😅
Elton John was incredible. How do people stop talking about such talents?
This song is over 50 years old....some younger people don't even remember Michael Jackson's Thriller video from 1982!!! There are ppl from Gen Z doesn't know anything about real talent I think. Elton John defined the early 1970s....❤Love him forever.
I was born too late I absolutely love the music from the 70s and 80s I didn’t even exist until the early 90s 😂
The best thing about Elton John, he is still Elton John
Elton John is the best singer ever. I love all of his songs

Pure talent. Just a simple band but what a performance. Elton at his best.

Elton and Bernie taupin are amazing.
I can’t imagine what it was like hearing and watching this performance and song for the first time.
Old boys and rough old dudes came shuffling in with stories that'd make your stomach turn
I feel like this is his best vocal performance for this song
this and The Muppet Show version.
I was 10 years old, when this song came. Today it sounds as good as it was then, timeless.
Me too I was about 11 or 12 when I heard this playing on the radio constantly !!!! #1 in the U.S. on Billboard. ❤
Hats off to Nigel Olsson - Eltons drummer and backing singer. Very very tight drumming and his vocals were superb. That's how its done.
So much talent, what today's music is missing.
This is pure gold!
Such a cool and insanely talented guy, love Elton
Elton John, uno dei migliori.Immortali le sue canzoni.

Back in 1972 this was a homage to 50s and by 2020s it still rocks

He was great. I cant watch him sing now as he is old and labors to sing. It is sad and I am glad he had his farewell tour.
