First of all the meeting of sides has one thing I did not hear ya mention. Annette and Shin... how will there meeting up be like? Remember she knew shin when both were kids. does this mean love triangle? second, I found it funny that Fido reacted to the cat first of the 86. Teepy or whatever Miz Kittys name is. Next season can't come soon enough but I want the same or better quality so take the required time and don't rush on our part.
The French toast scene is actually opposite of what you described. They talk about earlier in the series how Shin is a terrible cook a few times, hence the gifting of the cookbook. And Anju was surprised about how the French toast was actually good that she had to go tell Raiden about it
I swear, I cried too. The sheer happiness she radiated as she realized her friends were alive was blessed. She made it, she caught up, and they could all push on together.
I said it once and I'll say it; 86 is one of the best animes to come out in recent times ever. This is the pinnacle in which all adaptions, whether they be movies, shows, and anime should all strive for. As a Light Novel reader who has only hastily kept up with the story beforehand, I must say A1 Pictures, the directors, cinematographers, voice actors and everyone involved have really delivered a show that isn't anything less than a utter masterpiece.
Its a shame this anime was so poorly mismanaged by Aniplex. This anime outside of them trying to rush it, is without a doubt a labor of love. One of those adaptations with a lot of effort to do more than just make a dry adaptation.
“It’s been a while, handler 1” Legitimately in tears man. Sawano’s new OST for the final scene was absolutely perfect. This is the moment I’ve wanted to see for so long. A-1 just got everything right. When the anime got announced and A-1 were announced as the studio, I was worried because of how inconsistent they can be, but my fears were totally unfounded. Not only did they live up to my expectations, they blew past them. Every single week elevated the story to new heights, the level of detail and nuance in everything from the episode titles to small hints throughout the season…just phenomenal. My favourite series got the adaptation it deserved, can’t be happier.

Imagine waiting for that, _"It's been a while, Handler One."_ since the day this anime got announced. This is how the LN Fandom, including me, feel right now. Overjoyed beyond measure.
Lena is really such a sweet and endearing character. She a badass commander while at the same time being an absolute marshmellow of a person. It's this weird blend that you'd think clash, but actually really works out for her character.
1 in the early episodes the other 86 explained that Shin's food is bland, since he didn't care about anything he never bothered to use seasoning and stuff. The fact that his french toast actually tastes good is a huge shock to them. 2 He didn't answer because there was no need(they all know he s fine with Lena), we also see him smirking a bit there. 3 they are not surprised by Shin's power, they discovered that he can hear the "voices" of Legion already. What surprised them is that the 86 easily accepted a foreign commander, and Ernst explains to them that it was their commander back in the Republic(the part of the episode where his voice is covered by the flying plane), which leaves them surprised on the coincidence. 4 the drawings and photo(it was really worn out) didn't really help, she recognized the voices.
I don't think the anime team has to announce a continuation right off the bat, in all fairness it would have been in pretty poor form for the anime team to announce it right away anyway, considering the type of episode that we got, I have already watched it a couple of times, I am kind of happy that A-1 didn't announce a continuation at the end of this episode. better to let it sink in for a while, then drop an announcement, the best chance for that to happen is in a few weeks from now, at the special event, with that being said, I am confident that we will get a continuation of 86. If we don't get a confirmation in the next 12-18 months, then yes that is she wrote.
they'll probably announce s2 on the anniversary of 86 releasing, april 10th, I also bet it'll be released on august 6th either 2022 or 2023, because you know they love the number 86
@@rinzzler366 it would have to be 2023, it would either have to be July or October or, maybe even as late as January 2024. I cannot see it happening this year, there is 0 chance for that to happen, it would put so much pressure on the anime team, I wouldn't want them to be in the same situation we saw this season, where we have delay after delay. It also will not be released mid-way through an anime season anyway, I don't think the timeslot providers would be too pleased about releasing an anime in the middle of a season, I know there is a burning passion for the series, but I don't think upsetting the powers that be is a great idea. But I do agree that they will more than likely announce a continuation at the end of the anniversary event, being a special occasion, it would be perfect timing.
I loved the symbolism with the train tracks. At the end of episode 11, we see the train tracks as the start of her next journey to find Shin and the others. And with the finale, we see that the tracks have finally ended and she’s finally reunited with them. Truly one of the best finales as of late. This will forever be one of my favorite anime of all time.
We’ve been waiting for them to meet for so,so long and it was so worth it in the end. I love the directing of the scene where they meet and there isn’t a single thing I’d change about it. I’m gonna miss this show so much with it’s masterful worldbuilding,music,characters and symbolism of course. Talking about symbolism,if you look closely Lena and Shin make a 86 with the shadows of their hands for a second in the last scene. I’m feeling so empty rn,post anime depression is hitting me hard with this one

The fact that they managed to get such a good reuniting story/arc in just 23 episodes is baffling. I swear I barely get so emotional but something about that ending was just SO satisfying. Being able to be so invested in the metting of 2 characters that Ive only known (be it in real life a lot longer) for like 1 season!!; I really hope It gets renewed man.
I cried in every episode and now the season 1 ending overwhelmed me. It was magnificent, full of emotions and a blessing. As someone who watches every episode, anticipating each scenes to unfold before my eyes, the ending was satisfying that I rewatch it for how many times. I am really waiting for their reunion and reconnection with each other. Lena finally saw the last 5 man standing of the squadron she was handling. All in all, it was satisfying and hoping to see the bond they forged form a deeper connection with each other. 86 is underrated.
Go for the lightnovels. It gets even more emotional, better and insane. The battles go crazy and ofcourse, lena and shin's relationship is beautifully developed. Start from Volume 4, as the anime ends at volume 3.
Ah, I think you're talking about Uncle Jerome who died fighting. Vaclav was Lena's father. I hope they do animate season 2, their adaptation is S-tier~
in 2017 I found a very striking light novel cover and ended up reading it, when I finished reading I was crying many times and told myself that an anime of this work of art would be magnificent, for a long time I had to read it again work of art until Finally, after 5 years and more than 15 times of reading the same story, my wish came true. 86 was a perfect anime that exceeded my expectations, it gives me great joy to know that you enjoyed this series since it is my favorite story.
16:18 What i also noticed in this scene 1stly was "oh YES they gonna hold hands" then after a few second i was like "w8. . . Th-thats literally an [86] they're making" in a form of a nearly hand holding... My gosh the depths sure still gets deeper and deeper
The Alba officer that Lena was talking to was the same one that she was assigned to after she and Annette hijacked the mortars to help Spearhead at the end of the first Cour. He would constantly scold her bc she would keep pulling that same sh*t along with taking command of other Handlers’ squadrons to help better coordinate and increase the 86’s survival rates. However, bc she did such a good job fighting the Legion , that reflected positively on him as her superior. He’d play it off as part of his original plan to the top brass, so he would keep getting promoted. The big thing in that scene of the final episode are the 2 photo frames. He’s obviously posing with the 86 soldiers, a red haired woman and a blue haired kid. It’s clearly awkward for everyone involved. Earlier, before the fall of the Gran Mur, he had a single photo of him with an Alba child, they both seemed much more natural and comfortable with one another. He’s not complimenting Lena bc he truly supports her, he’s doing it bc the Federacy is literally the only thing keeping the Republic and its citizens alive and he’s trying to downplay his involvement with the whole attempted 86 genocide thing. Lena’s annoyed bc she knows that everything that man is saying is 100% lip service, that he doesn’t actually mean a word of it, and that he’d go right back to being a racist piece of crap the moment he thought he could get away with it. I’m guessing that the thoughts going through her head at the time were something like, “Of all the thousands of people who died, how exactly did THIS GUY survive?…Ugh!”
Fun thing, he isnt even posing with 86 Soldiers, if you look at the one with the young boy, he has his eye open, and theyre alba silver eyes, I think whats happened is that hes doctered those images to save face

There are so many like shows and movies and anime that have multiple main characters and they never meet so 86 finally filled that void in my heart and I can die happy
The final episode was a mirror opposite of the first episode in that shin and the 86 lived in a run down place while Lena lived comfortably. The final episode has Lena in a rundown home while shin is living comfortably. Their are A LOT of symbolism in 86 that makes this show incredible.
86 is an amazing show that I will never forget The last episode just gave me so much joy that I can't explain it I really tear up at the end that was just beautiful Hiroyuki Sawano create the ost just for this episode and that show how amazing it is Seeing those characters animated(I already read the LN) was incredible and idk how I can thanks A-1 pictures for made me feel those emotions And for a season 2 In April there is a special event for 86 so it's basically gonna be announced in this event if the anime will get obe or not For me it's almost 100% possible cus the sales of the LN as increased a lot, it start to be very famous, they made a lot of money with and there's a lot of materials for like 2 more seasons
Lena's commanding officer in the Republic came across to me and being incredibly uncomfortable with her success and wanted nothing more than to get her out his unit. That's why he seemed so "enthusiastic" about her volunteering to go to the Federation.
He even put fake framed portraits that makes it seem like he is tolerant of the Eighty Six, but the Federacy officers present weren't buying his bullshit.
We need a one year 86 break from the staff and then BAMM, new season announced!! I like my Anime slow burnnnn and philosophical, poetic like 86 Also i got to see Shin break his cooking curse, and meeting his discord GF in his best state(as he wills it. With his anime boi dreamy eye, this fucking womanizer) and sheeesh i thought TP(the cat) died :( but thank God TP, Kitty, Kuro, Remarque survived. Also anticipating Anette meeting Shin!!
The First and Second Parts have a very strong parallel, with what Frederica said previously, "Lena follows Shin's path", and here we see the two parts really, really showed this. Shin's home, Shin's visiting grave, Shin's preparing new unit, Shin's visiting the Spearhead monument and decide new future -> Lena's home, Lena's visiting grave, Lena's preparing new unit, Lena's visiting the Spearhead monument and 'continue'.
Yo I know you love to dig into symbolism, and this is one I personally have seen and it absolutely took my breath away. So you know that last image of the main cast and the torn up railway lines? Search up Westerbork, a transit camp in Holland from WWII. Without going into the thematic parallels (which is both an essay in itself and pretty on the nose), look for pictures of the end of the rail line there. Look familiar? Holy shit it blew me away, considering I visited that place IRL. That was lead into *so well* hot damn, and entirely anime original.

I know we all have been through hard time for waiting this series air until a lot of us almost forget about this series even in my country Indonesia almost no one ever talk about this series. But this ending when line lena said "I won't Forget" over and over again it's just like how we feel when we wait this series delay ect and the fact that the studio give us a scene that they say "We won't forget" make me feel so happy that the studio appreciate us and some like us "We won't forget" and we will wait till this series air again once again thank you SeaTactics
It was the perfect ending, but LN readers also know this was the perfect setup for a season 2 as well - going as far as to Easter egg a character introduction - a San Magnolian character who will be important for the future development of one of our main characters.
@@jdoggivjc it would be better for A-1 to make the announcement at the anniversary event, some are also speculating that it could be a movie, revolving around volume 4, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they announce the continuation of the series at the end of the event. when it seems like nothing major happens, all of a sudden the key visual shows up, getting people excited for more of the story and the war against the Legion.
@@vector_4022 spoiler The "Easter egged" character was Dustin, and he will greatly influence Anju's character development - specifically in the moving on from Daiya. But that is going to take 6+ volumes.
The best part of the last scene was how literally everyone involved in the new unit, besides Lena, knew about their shared past, and it wound up being a bit of a joke when they finally met in person.
This anime was put together so well, I loved it. The last scene in the last episode actually made me cry with happiness. So well done. Wish they could do a 2nd season.
I don’t believe Shin was letting go of the reaper persona as he told Theo to repaint the undertaker symbol on his reginleif, he seems to just have taken a positive approach to being the “reaper”
I'm happy that the ending wasn't almost everyone dieing and one of them being the Mc and just a sad ass ending like it was actually good its about time we got a bit of fresh air and not another depressing ending from a anime
The 3rd episode of 86, particularly the ending if you know, you know, got me hooked so much to the point where I outright bought my first ever Light Novel series because I couldn't wait a whole week.

Part one and part two started the exact same way, rushing down train tracks fighting legion and both parts ended the same 1st part ends with lena vowing to follow them on train tracks, and part two lena is with them at the end of train tracks.
This ending is great because they started the series at that note, I mean the people from 86 district aren't humans and they even don't get any rights, their deaths aren't considered, so when they meet it was obviously great I mean from episode 2 we knew that they are gonna meet someday but many things happened and finally they met

I found this series in December of last year. I've rewatched the series 3 times now. I think it's my favorite anything. I think it's better than any anime, movie, TV show, book, etc. It's just perfection across the board

I am surprise you made no mention of Lena seesaw of emotions. She kept hoping the 5 survived that when she saw the Federacy survived she hoped they live but no one told her they lived Cyclops and the rest would have been told thats why they packed up for the Federacy before her. The Giad government even blotted their names from the Nordlict regiment roster they gave her. She hoped they live until they brought her to the monument of juggernauts and Fido. She believe that was the farthest they reached. Maybe it played in her mind that Giad scientist salvage magnolia pararaid from their corpses. A normal person might have reach that comclusion. But she chose to believe they were still alive thats why she still had her drawings of them in her hands and she didnt place them in the box with the rest of the Dead. She let them go after Shin introduced them

The authors with this anime were like: Hey,you know how popular anime movies can get?Let's try to make a whole anime with that quality And that's what 86 was,a movie quality 23 episodes anime,perfection
Pretty sure it was shells in the eggs that was the problem as eggs are a primary ingredient, also I took the Anju part as complaining he didn't show up to take part in their effort myself and it was a surprisingly good result she doesn't strike me as one to be negative of other people doing something she would also appreciate and love well.
'Cause the picture was very blurry and of poor quality. It is clearly written in the book that it was hard her for her to recognize them. Even in the anime it is shown as dusty and blurry.

All in all, it was satisfying and hoping to see the bond they forged form a deeper connection with each other. 86 is underrated.
Go for the lightnovels. It gets even more emotional, better and insane. The battles go crazy and ofcourse, lena and shin's relationship is beautifully developed. Start from Volume 4, as the anime ends at volume 3.

in 2017 I found a very striking light novel cover and ended up reading it, when I finished reading I was crying many times and told myself that an anime of this work of art would be magnificent, for a long time I had to read it again work of art until Finally, after 5 years and more than 15 times of reading the same story, my wish came true.
86 was a perfect anime that exceeded my expectations, it gives me great joy to know that you enjoyed this series since it is my favorite story.

What i also noticed in this scene 1stly was "oh YES they gonna hold hands" then after a few second i was like "w8. . . Th-thats literally an [86] they're making" in a form of a nearly hand holding... My gosh the depths sure still gets deeper and deeper
The Alba officer that Lena was talking to was the same one that she was assigned to after she and Annette hijacked the mortars to help Spearhead at the end of the first Cour. He would constantly scold her bc she would keep pulling that same sh*t along with taking command of other Handlers’ squadrons to help better coordinate and increase the 86’s survival rates. However, bc she did such a good job fighting the Legion , that reflected positively on him as her superior. He’d play it off as part of his original plan to the top brass, so he would keep getting promoted.
The big thing in that scene of the final episode are the 2 photo frames. He’s obviously posing with the 86 soldiers, a red haired woman and a blue haired kid. It’s clearly awkward for everyone involved. Earlier, before the fall of the Gran Mur, he had a single photo of him with an Alba child, they both seemed much more natural and comfortable with one another. He’s not complimenting Lena bc he truly supports her, he’s doing it bc the Federacy is literally the only thing keeping the Republic and its citizens alive and he’s trying to downplay his involvement with the whole attempted 86 genocide thing. Lena’s annoyed bc she knows that everything that man is saying is 100% lip service, that he doesn’t actually mean a word of it, and that he’d go right back to being a racist piece of crap the moment he thought he could get away with it.
I’m guessing that the thoughts going through her head at the time were something like, “Of all the thousands of people who died, how exactly did THIS GUY survive?…Ugh!”
Fun thing, he isnt even posing with 86 Soldiers, if you look at the one with the young boy, he has his eye open, and theyre alba silver eyes, I think whats happened is that hes doctered those images to save face
The characters were very well-known and I loved the whole story , I'm very excited for more 86 episodes.
I thought they liked shin cooking that's why they were surprised. 3:40 I was thinking to my head Anju must be saying to Raiden " Shin actually made food that is good to eat for ones" lol
There are so many like shows and movies and anime that have multiple main characters and they never meet so 86 finally filled that void in my heart and I can die happy
The final episode was a mirror opposite of the first episode in that shin and the 86 lived in a run down place while Lena lived comfortably. The final episode has Lena in a rundown home while shin is living comfortably. Their are A LOT of symbolism in 86 that makes this show incredible.

For me it's almost 100% possible cus the sales of the LN as increased a lot, it start to be very famous, they made a lot of money with and there's a lot of materials for like 2 more seasons
Lena's commanding officer in the Republic came across to me and being incredibly uncomfortable with her success and wanted nothing more than to get her out his unit. That's why he seemed so "enthusiastic" about her volunteering to go to the Federation.
He even put fake framed portraits that makes it seem like he is tolerant of the Eighty Six, but the Federacy officers present weren't buying his bullshit.
We need a one year 86 break from the staff and then BAMM, new season announced!!

The First and Second Parts have a very strong parallel, with what Frederica said previously, "Lena follows Shin's path", and here we see the two parts really, really showed this. Shin's home, Shin's visiting grave, Shin's preparing new unit, Shin's visiting the Spearhead monument and decide new future -> Lena's home, Lena's visiting grave, Lena's preparing new unit, Lena's visiting the Spearhead monument and 'continue'.
Yo I know you love to dig into symbolism, and this is one I personally have seen and it absolutely took my breath away. So you know that last image of the main cast and the torn up railway lines? Search up Westerbork, a transit camp in Holland from WWII. Without going into the thematic parallels (which is both an essay in itself and pretty on the nose), look for pictures of the end of the rail line there. Look familiar? Holy shit it blew me away, considering I visited that place IRL. That was lead into *so well* hot damn, and entirely anime original.
One thing you didn't realise about is that the shadows of the 2 hands they make and 86 hahahahaha. It is wonderful! Master piece

It was the perfect ending, but LN readers also know this was the perfect setup for a season 2 as well - going as far as to Easter egg a character introduction - a San Magnolian character who will be important for the future development of one of our main characters.
There's also an announcement regarding 86 scheduled for Apr 10. Large amounts of speculation season 2 will be announced then.
@@jdoggivjc it would be better for A-1 to make the announcement at the anniversary event, some are also speculating that it could be a movie, revolving around volume 4, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they announce the continuation of the series at the end of the event.
when it seems like nothing major happens, all of a sudden the key visual shows up, getting people excited for more of the story and the war against the Legion.

The "Easter egged" character was Dustin, and he will greatly influence Anju's character development - specifically in the moving on from Daiya. But that is going to take 6+ volumes.
The best part of the last scene was how literally everyone involved in the new unit, besides Lena, knew about their shared past, and it wound up being a bit of a joke when they finally met in person.
I finished watching 86 right now and this was such a beautiful episode that I have witnessed Today...
The ending is as good as an anime can be. It’s definitely up there with code gease. So much anticipation and hype and damn the wait was worth.
This anime was put together so well, I loved it. The last scene in the last episode actually made me cry with happiness. So well done. Wish they could do a 2nd season.
I don’t believe Shin was letting go of the reaper persona as he told Theo to repaint the undertaker symbol on his reginleif, he seems to just have taken a positive approach to being the “reaper”

The 3rd episode of 86, particularly the ending if you know, you know, got me hooked so much to the point where I outright bought my first ever Light Novel series because I couldn't wait a whole week.

Part one and part two started the exact same way, rushing down train tracks fighting legion and both parts ended the same 1st part ends with lena vowing to follow them on train tracks, and part two lena is with them at the end of train tracks.
Note that all of Spearhead's first words to Lena (except Shin) reference their last letter to Lena.
86 was a masterpiece in my opinion it deserve 5 rewatch of the whole anime
im 47 and have been watching anime since i was a teen, this ending had me in tears.
This ending is great because they started the series at that note, I mean the people from 86 district aren't humans and they even don't get any rights, their deaths aren't considered, so when they meet it was obviously great I mean from episode 2 we knew that they are gonna meet someday but many things happened and finally they met
The ending is all worth it. Definitely go for it even if you're not into anything mecha.
To put icing in top is the fact that last 2 episodes were delayed coincidentally for the last to be aired at the 86th day of series' run

I found this series in December of last year. I've rewatched the series 3 times now. I think it's my favorite anything. I think it's better than any anime, movie, TV show, book, etc. It's just perfection across the board

She kept hoping the 5 survived that when she saw the Federacy survived she hoped they live but no one told her they lived Cyclops and the rest would have been told thats why they packed up for the Federacy before her.
The Giad government even blotted their names from the Nordlict regiment roster they gave her.
She hoped they live until they brought her to the monument of juggernauts and Fido. She believe that was the farthest they reached. Maybe it played in her mind that Giad scientist salvage magnolia pararaid from their corpses. A normal person might have reach that comclusion.
But she chose to believe they were still alive thats why she still had her drawings of them in her hands and she didnt place them in the box with the rest of the Dead. She let them go after Shin introduced them
I can now die peacefully knowing that shin and lena finally meet each other
Also, idk if you realize that the scene where lena and shin holding hand it actually turn into the number 86 just a frame before the 86 logo pop up

The holding hands shadow represents the symbol if u take a close look at it.
Pretty sure it was shells in the eggs that was the problem as eggs are a primary ingredient, also I took the Anju part as complaining he didn't show up to take part in their effort myself and it was a surprisingly good result she doesn't strike me as one to be negative of other people doing something she would also appreciate and love well.
86 is a great Anime, but the last two episodes really elevate it to a masterpiece series for me. I really couldn't have asked for a better ending!

When shin met Lena at battlefield she had the pic that 86 left behind in their base, how can she not recognize them when they met?
'Cause the picture was very blurry and of poor quality. It is clearly written in the book that it was hard her for her to recognize them. Even in the anime it is shown as dusty and blurry.
