One of my golf mates, has the previous version, and he binned his driver, due to the Burner Mini being more consistent, his length is better than he was with his driver, due to the improvement in efficiency. No more spending most of the round looking for his ball's in the rough. No-brainer.
Hi James… great video. I just bought the 2024 Burner MD at 13.5 degrees with regular shaft. I’m a 6 handicap. Hit a few balls on the range then played a round of golf with the Burner MD and left my driver out of the bag. Sacrificed a bit of distance off the tee (maybe 10 yds less) but hit every fairway, EVERY fairway but one. Also hit it off the deck as my 3-wood twice and hit it 235. I will replace my 3-Metal with the Burner MD. Great club
Hi James, I have the 2023 mini burner and I love it. My club is the 13.5 version, I would consider buying the new 2024 version in 11.5 and turning it down to 9.5 and turning up mine to 15.5. This could possibly replace a normal driver and 3 wood with essentially 1 club, 1 swing. Would be interesting to see a video with these 2 loft settings for comparison
Hi Colin, would you recommend using it as a 3 wood over a ‘standard’ 3 wood? Love the idea of having a club that you could use as a 3 wood one round, then crank it to a driver the next
Hi Robert, I generally use the club off the tee as I can't use my driver. Its not very often I use it off the deck , but when I do it works really well and it has a fade bias. I don't change the loft I play it in 13.5°. I love the club and would highly it. recommend it @robertgregory5158
I actually did this with the 2023 version. Not saying it couldn't work but the 13.5 turned up is out of the bag for a 5 wood turned down to 17. Keeping it though as it has a place for some short and tight courses.
I like it. I'm anxious to see the Titleist mini-driver when it comes out. Would be great if they did a throw-back version too, perhaps a updated version of the 975D.
Great review. I've just bought a TaylorMade Burner Mini Driver 11.5 (and immediately changed the loft to 9.5) and it's a fantastic club! I cannot miss the fairway and I hit the ball as far as my regular driver 460cc. Great looks, I like the smaller size head, great feeling when I hit the ball. I really like it. Now I want to buy the 13.5 as a fairway wood (and I will turn down the loft to 15 or 15.5).
Bought the 13.5 degree today. Cranked it down to 12° and swapped the weights around … played 9 and hit 6/6 fairways without giving up too much distance. It’s staying in the bag. Thanks pal, you were spot on!
Literally just picked one up today. First driver I’ve ever grabbed off a rack and hit nothing but dead straight center fairway rockets. After 10 swings in a row not missing a fairway I couldn’t help but grab it and went with the 11.5. Still need to tinker between lofts and weights on which set up will be my optimum launch condition. Great review, put it in the bag!
@@shaunkelley55 no definitely not. Treat it much more like teeing off with a 3 wood. Same height off the tee as a 3 wood and same downward attack angle. That’s what works for me anyways. I’m very comfortable teeing off with my 3 wood so I swing it the same, especially given the shafts are the same length.
The brnr is my second mini driver and I love it. I hit most fairways and cannot believe that more people don't buy one. To me, this edition is just last year's in a new coat and I think it's been reissued as they always sell out
Hello James, I still have the old SLDR Mimi Driver and not sure why it went out of my bag, but I have been looking at getting the New one and I think that you have sold me that I need to put one in my bag.
Have last years mini in the lower loft and this years in the higher loft. Have last years lower lofted mini lofted down with heavier weight up front and this years higher lofted mini lofted up with the lighter weight up front. Perfect separation in yardage between the two and the higher lofted mini is a breeze to hit off the deck!
I enjoyed seeing the review on this version, def a sharp looking club. I have the 300 Mini and still put it in the bag from time to time, but I don't see it currently replacing my Ping 10K as a main stick. Great review as usual, James. I will have to keep my eye out on these, maybe trade a few older clubs in for one.
Hi James, I bought the original one when it came out and still use it. I actually had my Even Flow Driver shaft from my Rogue Sub zero cut down and the adapter changed to TM. What an amazing change, not to use the stock standard shaft. The SZ head is lying around with the other old toys and gathering dust. I also bought the 23 BRNR and love it but it certainly is different. Sometimes it doesn’t come down to new tech, just what suits an individual. Looking forward to testing the new one. Great channel, keep it up! Cheers
James, two things: 1) Great drives and video on the advantages of the mini. 2) You should absolutely compare all of the mini drivers. It would be a great video!
It would be interesting to test it against some 3+ woods that are 13.5 degrees see if it's way better off the tee. I carry a Cobra speedzone big tour and love it cause I can easily hit it off the deck as well.
I actually did this when I bought mine. I went into the store with my current 3wood (TM Sim rocket 3wood at 13.5 degrees). I did a side by side comparison and even was able to throw the mini driver head on my 3wood shaft and got on best with that actually. The shaft in the mini is about a half inch longer but even the stiff shaft felt a little light and wobbly compared to what I’m used to. Still tinkering with adjustments for the perfect launch angle for me but in the store I was squeaking out about 25 yards more with the mini driver with a lot less effort and more consistency than my 3wood. To be fair I got the 11.5 so the difference in loft accounted for most of the distance I’m sure. But it’s a very confidence inspiring driver from the second it’s in your hands so I felt I was able to swing more freely.
have the last years version, 13.5 degree and then lofted up on the "higher" setting, I play this club behind my driver as a replacement 3 wood. it is one of my favorite clubs i have ever owned, and i can hit it really well off the deck, a great option for a second shot on a par 5, to make the green in 2. worth the money.
Just thought mine today. Needed something that still went far but was easier to keep inside tighter dispersions for tighter courses. Swaps in and out with my 3 wood.
Ordered one a couple weeks ago, should have it soon! Senior golfer, retired, live in the beautiful tropics of the Philippines, play year round, 3-4 rounds a week, 7hc
I bought the 2023 model a couple weeks ago after seeing your review of it. Love it with the stock shaft, BUT, I swapped in my blue Velocore 6.0 driver shaft and wow, what a difference! James, if you happen to try that or already have I'd love to know what you think. Side note....I prefer the looks of the 2023 model :)
Don't blame you for being in love with that club! A recommendation for you - eliminate sugar in your diet for 30 days; avoid processed food to the greatest extent possible; do not use seed oils. I did those things and dropped 10 kilos in a month and feel (and look) oh so much better.
A smaller head causes less aerodynamic drag, which means that isn't 1 of the places you will lose distance compared with your normal driver. An important place you are going to lose distance compared with your driver is in the shaft length. I use a different mini driver, the brand isn't important, but since I built it myself I made it 44" long instead of making it a 3 wood length (about 43"). For about 12 rounds of use, I was about 10 yards shorter on my tee shots than with my driver the previous year (checked with Arrcos swing caddy) but the main difference is that I found the fairway more often off the tee. I've been lucky to be pretty accurate off the tee, but I don't even carry a driver anymore, and standing on the tee box I always have confidence that my 2nd shot is going to be from the short stuff. The cool thing is that the sole of my mini driver is such that it allows me to hit it off the deck. However, I have a 43.5" 3 wood that is only about 15 yards shorter than my driver. My big hitter friends get mad pretty often on par 4s and 5s hahaha.
Yes James please do a comparison of all 3! Looks great hopefully we get them here in Australia. Will see if I can find one to try. Thanks for the reviews.
James your mini driver videos are the best! Your enthusiasm really comes through and makes the hype around them that much better! I have the 23 version and your honest review helped me decide on giving it a shot. Cheers dude keep the Mini driver vids coming!
I bought last year's mini driver. I love it, best feeling driver I have ever hit. I also hit it better off the fairway better than any 3 wood I have owned.
Thanks for the video james Looks a lovely club but can you compare it to a sim 2 max driver with the same 3 wood shaft and length? It could do really well and cost a fraction of the price.that would make a good video
I think you should put it in the bag but back up to 13.5 loft and keep the weight forward, then you have a strong 3 wood for tight tee shots and to use from the fairway, but also a proper driver for most tee shots.
The only reason i did not get one , is because i do not know what club to replace . Its hard to replace my 3 wood or hybrid with this , and i usually play with 4 wedges . So i do not have room in my bag for this now.
I replaced my 3 wood with the BRNR mini, it’s driver B for me for when my ping doesn’t cooperate. It won’t fix a slice or hook, but it’s much easier to control and keep it in play.
Hi there, may I ask plse if you've had a chance yet to use this club in anger? If so, how are you finding it plse? For reference, my SS is only about 90mph, so not fast lol! Many thanks Andrew
Hi James! I have been struggling with my driver of late so just ordered one you are showcasing today! Yes I have taken a little risk not being fitted for it but worst case scenario I won’t lose money if it doesn’t work out, as long as I don’t put a sky mark on it like Dave did 😂😂😂🤞
Kind of looks like the first Taylor Made drive I bought in the mid 90s for $100 on sale. It had that brown/copper look & had the smaller head with the bubble shaft (remember those). It was the club Kevin Costner hit in his movie Tin Cup.
Wait til next year or maybe in the next couple years when taylormade comes out with the r7 mini driver, now people will absolutely go bonkers over that.
Let mid-handicap Dave hit it and see if it is a fit for him. Love the color, looked at adding a premium shaft and the price really goes up. Had an older model years ago, didn't get along with it then.
Managed to grab one today after seeing an Insta post that they have gone live! Got it for cheaper than a 2023 BRNR I was tracking on eBay! Cant wait to hit it.
@@daman1810 I love it. I hit it as far as the driver it replaced and much more accurately. Probably confidence letting me feel I can swing faster without worrying about being erratic. Also easy to hit off the deck given a decent lie. Haven't tested from bad lies.
Yes James I am a true believer that mini driver are better than standard drivers for most mid to high handicappers ,I want one but will have save up as these are so expensive and over priced like everything else is with golf equipment
Although I would like to, I've not tried one. I find the heads on most 460cc drivers visually too large and lean toward a 430cc head. Unfortunately, there aren't many of those around. Would I consider buying a mini driver? Absolutely - if they weren't so bloody expensive.
My only issue is you can't get it ordered in a midsize grip just the standard so I would have to get the grip changed right away great review love this version cheers from Canada
I’ve had the sldr mini driver for a long time now. Have tried so many different drivers, and even have had driver fittings with the latest and greatest drivers but keep going back to the SLDR mini. The distance I lose compared to a driver is minimal and is far outweighed by the unbelievable consistency I get with the mini . I hit fairways with it and therefore score consistently better. Very Tempted to get hold of this new BRNR copper mini!!!
Sorry to necro this. Did you end up getting the new brnr? I'm also playing the sldr mini and I love it. If you did get it how does it feel compared to the sldr?
Had a gander at one in my local range, and I was very impressed. Definitely the first one to really get me thinking about pulling the trigger. But I NEED that headcover, play a match for it? 👀😂
The prices are mental!! I have an SLDR mini in a cupboard somewhere and I’m sure it was nowhere near this price. Be good to see a comparison with an actual driver head in a 3 wood shaft.
On looks its stunning - probably the price will be, only downside given the latest push for getting the right shaft, weight configuration etc is the ability to get a custom fit option.
Absolutely nothing gets me more excited in golf than a brand new Mini driver! I do wish other manufacturers would try bringing out one in small batches? Great video ROBO and Bobby! 🐊🏌⛳️🦅🇺🇲❤️
Why not try a standard driver at 11.5 loft (or higher than 9). Love to see a 18 hole round score with a higher lofted driver and game improvement irons or match against Chris. Interesting to see if fairways and center of green score better than the “workability/control” of lower HC clubs/settings.
Looks great! But serious question - what is the difference between a mini driver and a standard driver with a shortened shaft? wouldnt i want the larger head? Great video - Thanks!
You’re going to start messing with swing weight, as driver heads will be lighter than a mini-driver head due to shaft length they are made for. You can add weight to a driver head, though, so it’d be worth a tinker. I will say, due to shorter shaft length, I hit the middle of my mini-driver way more often so don’t need a larger face/head.
Ordered the 11.5 version, i have PXG gen5 3, 5 and gen6 7 woods. So getting it at 13.5 seemed like duplication. So 11.5 degree driver alternative for tighter fairways, long par 3's or short par 4's seemed to be the way to go. The other positive is if it turns out to be a dud for me, I'll probably make £100 selling it on. No brainer as i see it.
Mate, if could give you 1,000,000 thumbs up and get 100,000,000 to tweet or f’in ’X’ this one out I would! You are utterly superb and me and the wife lissed ourselves the last few minutes. Superb!!!! 😂
I will probably stick to one of my mini driver/3wd replacements, i have original one mini driver 11.5* or my stealth plus 13.5* or my cobra big tour set at 12* or even my long tom 2 wood 12*. All 4 offer different flights and distances. I guarantee everybody, all 4 of these are easier to hit that any modern day mini driver. Depends on if you are buying it for tee shots or fairway shots.
I’m waiting to see the Titleist first then an order will be placed. Love the mini drivers❤Yes James video on all. I have the SLDR and would love to see comparisons
Would love to see testing of the mini driver versus one of the main brand drivers at a similar loft (11.5 mini vs 12 degree driver) I must be the exception, since every time I’ve tried a mini driver. I always tend to want to go back to my 12° normal size driver!
Is this a single club replacement for a driver and 3 wood? If so it would be good to see it hit off the deck. I have similar experience with a 3 wood i.e. more accurate and not much less distance. Would I see a difference with a 3 wood?
One of my golf mates, has the previous version, and he binned his driver, due to the Burner Mini being more consistent, his length is better than he was with his driver, due to the improvement in efficiency. No more spending most of the round looking for his ball's in the rough. No-brainer.
It reminds me of my old Taylormade Burner driver with the bubbleshaft. The copper color and the head cover. Talk about going down memory lane!!!!
The bubble shaft should make a comeback.😀
That was my 1st quality driver ever.
Ti bubble 2 driver with bubble shaft.
Yep that was mine as well in a 10.5 degree head with a stiff flex. I actually still have the old girl. Can't make myself part with it

Very Tempted to get hold of this new BRNR copper mini!!!
Sorry to necro this. Did you end up getting the new brnr? I'm also playing the sldr mini and I love it. If you did get it how does it feel compared to the sldr?
I needs the burner bubble shaft 😂Put a driver shaft length on and see what it does.
Had a gander at one in my local range, and I was very impressed. Definitely the first one to really get me thinking about pulling the trigger. But I NEED that headcover, play a match for it? 👀😂
You might be the only reviewer on youtube that showed last year's and this year's mini driver in the same vid. thank you!!
The prices are mental!! I have an SLDR mini in a cupboard somewhere and I’m sure it was nowhere near this price. Be good to see a comparison with an actual driver head in a 3 wood shaft.
Great video Jason. It looks great. Do the video comparing them all. Would be interesting to see what improvements they have made 👍
On looks its stunning - probably the price will be, only downside given the latest push for getting the right shaft, weight configuration etc is the ability to get a custom fit option.
Love it but I still have my 300 Mini Driver so I really don't need a new one yet BUT when I do!!!
Absolutely gorgeous. Old school burner is one of my absolute favorite drivers. Wish I still had mine.
might have one in the garage if you want it
I do like the Retro look of the 2024 mini. Reminds me of the Burner Bubble in the 1990s.
I have managed to order one this evening. Thanks James for letting us know they have been released 😊
Absolutely nothing gets me more excited in golf than a brand new Mini driver! I do wish other manufacturers would try bringing out one in small batches? Great video ROBO and Bobby!
🐊🏌⛳️🦅🇺🇲❤️
I think it looks much like the TaylorMade 1998 K sole titanium driver but larger. Very nice!
My thought exactly
You’re going to start messing with swing weight, as driver heads will be lighter than a mini-driver head due to shaft length they are made for. You can add weight to a driver head, though, so it’d be worth a tinker. I will say, due to shorter shaft length, I hit the middle of my mini-driver way more often so don’t need a larger face/head.
Looks outstanding! Yes, I play a mini 300 driver. Love it! This looks like my next one.
Do the mini full test!! I adore my 300 series, best club in my bag, only lose 20 yards over TSR3 driver but nearly always in play...
$449 !!! … I bought the 2011 pxg driver when on sale for $99 and order to my specs, but would like to try the mini 😁… keep up the good work!
I loved my 2023 BRNR, but someone stole it from my bag last summer. Looks like I might have to pony up again and get this before it sells out.
Think it would be cool to see a comparison of them all, from the Original One Mini Driver, the Aero Burner mini all the way up to this new one!!!!
If I get one, first job is tape on that gold crown
Mate, if could give you 1,000,000 thumbs up and get 100,000,000 to tweet or f’in ’X’ this one out I would! You are utterly superb and me and the wife lissed ourselves the last few minutes. Superb!!!! 😂
I prefer the look of last years model with the glossy top. I've had mine since last November and its the nuts.
That’s a good looking club. Yes James, do it!
So how do you set up to one of these clubs? Is it driver 3 wood? how far forward in the stance should the ball be and what tee height do you play?
Dave says can he borrow it says it needs some character like a nice new sky mark😂😂😂😂😂
Get Dave to sign the old one and have a giveaway 😂
I’m waiting to see the Titleist first then an order will be placed. Love the mini drivers❤Yes James video on all. I have the SLDR and would love to see comparisons
I definitely prefer the rainbow headcover. However, that driver looks amazing!
For me mini drivers have been a saviour. The brnr ones look fab and perform. Do you want 240 yds straight or 270 all over the place??
what`s the advantage to just gripping down on your driver ?
If you an tell us where to get fitted for one it would be a big help.
Would love to see testing of the mini driver versus one of the main brand drivers at a similar loft (11.5 mini vs 12 degree driver)
I must be the exception, since every time I’ve tried a mini driver. I always tend to want to go back to my 12° normal size driver!
Yes James, do it.
Almost pulled the trigger on a used one and just found out today they are back. Going as soon as I get home to buy it
Yes James. Do it. I game a 300 as a second driver. Seldom use the big stick.
I like the looks. Would love to see all three lined up
Is this a single club replacement for a driver and 3 wood? If so it would be good to see it hit off the deck. I have similar experience with a 3 wood i.e. more accurate and not much less distance. Would I see a difference with a 3 wood?
Super looking driver. Don’t let Dave anywhere near the mini driver. Sale Dave the mini driver from last year
I have a mini driver 300 2022. Love it. Use as a two wood. Line them up James... do it
