  • In this video we take a look at the John Carpenter classic, They Live.
    Living In The Past is a channel about revisiting pop culture from the past. Hosted by Jeremy Scott and Devin Kleffer (along with Carl the Intern), these two (three) friends can’t help but revisit the movies and TV shows that they loved from their younger years. Come along and get a little nostalgic with us as we look back, enjoy, and ask the important question: is it still OK to like this stuff?

    What do you all think? Is They Live a warning to where we are today as a culture? Is there any way to wake up?

    • @silvercloud1641
      @silvercloud1641 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. Put the phones and social media down along with the religious man-made books that are more about dogma than spirituality, divisive things that bombard people with OBEY, CONSUME, MARRY and other forms of matrix mind kontrol. Left and right telling you what to eat, smoke, drink, think, feel. Fuk off!
      Zen Mind is the key. 1 world 1 race, human. Telling others how to live isn't freedom. Live and let live.

    The beauty of this film is the pacing. Is it slow? Yes. Yet before we know it we are in the middle of something incredible once that point arrives. Very subtle hints which finally reveal the plot arc and our characters place in the story manifests.

    One of the greatest metaphors in the film was the fight scene itself. Frank’s incredibly persistent resistance towards opening his eyes - flat out refusing to entertain any reality besides his own. Not to mention the pain and agony Nada had to endure in order to finally get through to him.
    It’s simply common-man vs common man. One who realizes the scope and severity of the problems plaguing the world around him, and the other who is ignorant to it all (intentionally or not).
    It makes you wonder… Maybe Nada convinced Frank of the truth before he even put on the glasses - Frank just never wanted to see for himself.

    While "They Live" was originally marketed as a SciFi- action comedy it was something much more than that. I believe it was meant to be satire of the action films of that era that contained an underlying commentary about corporate social influence. But , when revisiting it sporadically over the years, it now seems to have been more of a dire warning of a much more sinister reality that was awaiting us as a species. It may have been an attempt to bring about a true and public dialogue about what was actually happening around us all.

      They all belong to the same 33 freemasonic Jesuit Illuminati occult Kazhar pedo club . This being said , JC is of course a 33 . Watch the scene with the TVs in the shop window a couple of times . That price tag 339 dollars is CHANGED for the next shot from a different angle . So now it resembles 33 degrees , the nine turning into a degree . They always tell you . And the prove is there. The tag is changed. Different color, and has a different 33 writing . There was no reason to change it , except to have it resemble a 33 degrees now . The 33 is in each of JC s movies , in Halloween 3 a mind boggling 6 times . The 666 also . „ I shot him 6 times“ …Pleasence repeats it 2 times . Could give u examples for each movie he produced/ directed. This being said , this video is the typical disinfo. You even find videos on YT that talk about the Freemason and Illuminati agenda in They Live . And the hidden symbolism . Each scene has some . I could do 3,3 hours about all the gematria and symbols in the graffiti at the beginning , only about that

    They Live was John Carpenters "F You" to the Reagan era 80's mantra of "greed is good" and "Yuppie" mentality. Carpenter had just as much of an axe to grind against Reagan as Michael Moore does against the Republican politician of your choice today, except Carpenter wasn't so blatant about it.

    I was really into the concept of subliminal messaging then and now memetics that so much the movie mirrors the world we live in today, it's really kind of scary. The movie had a big effect on my life and how I see the world. In fact I teach my teen son every time he watches an ad(especially influencers I despise them)to try to realize they are just trying to sell him something or control him they almost never have benevolent intent.😮😢

    • @livingthepast

    I preferred the original short story, "Eight O'Clock in the Morning." The Aliens were far more gruesome, the protagonist's solution to the secret invasion was interesting, and there was some hope for the awakened Humans. (No "special glasses" required, just a case of mass hypnosis.) John Carpenter's tale was just too messy.;)

  • @1slandB0y77
    @1slandB0y77 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've not seen the movie, but I agree that, like Idiocracy, it was "prophetic", on many levels. Scientists have already proved our reality is digital, and that we live in a 10-dimensional (at least - maybe more) "construct" akin to The Matrix. Luckily for us the Being outside our simulation is God, not "aliens" or psychopathic AI/robots, but as long as we're stuck in this simulation, the "bad guy" (that would be Satan) holds most of the cards, and his aim is the corruption, defilement and, ultimately, destruction of humanity. THAT is why the 21st century is a steaming pile of nonsensical, rabid leftist shite, and why it is "the age of deceit". Good review, BTW, if a bit short. Hope your channel gets more views and subs.
