The exciting part is what happens *as a result* of this Turning Point, not the Turning Point itself. This one’s unique in that way.

Not sure if you noticed but Ruijerd would have been telling them all sorts of stories about Rudy while escorting them which is what started her inferiority complex towards him most likely. She was already being compared to Aisha a lot so hearing all these great things about Rudy while having that first meeting to go by contradicting it didn’t exactly help see him in a good light. During the scene where the bartender told Rudy to look his father in the eye and seeing himself, we now see Norn having the same experience. She remembers how desperate her father was trying to keep her happy during the time of the incident and she remembers that defeated expression she now sees in Rudy.
OP most definitely shouldn't be watched after next episode lol, maybe in like 3 episodes if not more than that.

A remarkable episode that makes the right adaptation choices to fit the format (the light novel is much more detailed). About the title of the next episode:
- Right now, it's impossible for you to know what Turning Point 3 is. You can't guess. Starting with the next episode, you'll eventually be able to guess a little more.
- But you're not ready for the events directly related to it.
- At this stage of the story, the turning points can't be "fully" understood.
2:43 That's just pretty similar to what happened to Rudy except it was in public but not from a teacher.
10:04 This was really good at showing Rudy's immaturity at parenting. Thinking out loud in this situation would've done so much to ease his sisters' concerns since his thought process had nothing against either of them.

Sounded cringy melodramatic for my taste. I hate when writers resort to meaningless important-sounding yapping instead of addressing the facts of the situation, then pretend that vague-sounding thing was some kind of big-brain move.
As a LN Reader, this is one of the passages that made the series for me. This series is at its best when Rudeus confronts the reality of his past life and how it ended. This is one of the finest moments, a glimpse from the other side of the door. When all can be seen you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free!

I was really looking forwards to see how the anime handled this situation with Norn. She got a large chunk of a chapter to herself for it in the LN (like 80% of that chapter was her internal thoughts during the time she was in her room) that gave us all the necessary insight into her thoughts and feelings, and I was concerned how they'd handle adapting that to fit into the anime. I think they did a spectacular job, though it was changed a little bit from the LN.
Worst part is that just because Norn is Rudeus sister everyone believed she will be talented as him, it’s big presure on her cause she is constantly compared to Rudy, but sadly she has no talent at all, just normal average girl.
No, Rudy isn't normal :p he blew up a demon king in front of EVERYONE, and married the princess' best guard everyone looks up to. He also killed a weak dragon alone. Ha! It's funny because I think even Rudy forgets that that is NOT normal sometimes
Oh, and I forgot this. All his friends are royalty, except elinalise probably. The beast girls are royal, zanoba is a prince, cliff is the son of the highest person in Millis. He also beat "fitz" badly on his first day. He's a silent spell caster, he's friends with Silent Sevenstar. Man, I gotta remember most people in this world are like, weak and normal like me. Just out there fixing doors for a living or something
He also one shot a demon king , survived orstred, got a demon eye from the demon empress ( idk if people know the last 2 but still)
Greatest Isekai Redemption
From what I understand, "Turning Point" is a "Point".
If any, I would assume the "Point" is fully covered in the next episode, or be specific, one chapter of the original novel (which has the exact title of Turning Point).
The "Turning Point" can lead to a new arc of the story, but the new arc isn't the turning point, the turning point is what caused the new arc.
Like Turning Point 1 is the teleportation mana disaster. That's the "Point". The journey after Rudeus being teleported isn't the Turning Point anymore.

I was a bit worried the anime would focus too much on Rudy's perspective when they went hard on the parallels to his old life. Because I think the Norn POV was the highlight of this volume of the novels.
But fortunately I was worried for nothing, they really did Norn justice in the second half of the episode.

Watching this episode reminded me of Vinland Saga Season 2, and that you don't have to have crazy action to make a very good anime. One of the best episodes in Mushoku since season 1 so far, and yeah, there is also turning point 3 happening 💀💀💀

By far one of the best episodes of mushoku tensei. I feel that it hurt me deeper than I want to accept.
Actually you should be able to watch the opening after episode 21, depending on where it ends, or 22 (mostly) spoiler-free based on leaks, assuming the opening isn't skipped in the next 2 episodes. There's only one (maybe two) very subtle thing that goes by quickly enough that you won't get it unless you already know and are looking for it. It's the bit when the chorus of the song starts that is the problem.
It’s funny how in the Vietnamese translation during the scene where he asks who bullied Norn, his dialogue literally translates to “once they stand up i’ll tear them limb by limb”

I totally get where Norn is coming from. Sometimes some childhood fears, such as from abusers, never goes away and you see them as evil for the rest of your life no matter how much justification they give. Ofc Rudy was not an abuser to her, but trauma-wise it's comparable to that. He sees in Rudeus someone that's very violent and willing to hurt someone she loves the most. When faced with a reality where your core beliefs like "my brother is a bad person" is constantly being questioned, there's no wonder why she got a panic attack from the situation.

In the case of the OP, I do believe that it has some very subtle spoilers all the way to the end of this cour; like literally, the last scene of the cour is in the OP. But if you are not fixated on it too much, there is no guarantee you would get it. Apart from that, depending on how far the next episode goes, there may be nothing that would be that surprising, but it will still spoil the main battle of this season. So...
Everywhere norn went everyone kept pressing ruby, zenith always talk about how reliable he is, paul talk of rudy as his perfect child, lilith and ashia talk about him being amazing, ruijerd how he cant wait to meet him and talked about all the things hes done , in school everyone thinks rudys is the best,the strongest everyone is afraid of him
Norne being Bullied? Rudeus dosn't understand his own reputation haha nobody in the entire citty woud mess with her knowing she is Rudeu's sister, that guy blew up a demon king in the middle of the courtyard like it was nothing, nobody is dumb enough to get on his bad scide

if anything, what Norn went through was the exact opposite, no one in that school is dumb enough to bully anyone even remotely connected to Rudeus!

another thing the anime didn't really cover is that Norn didn't hate her brother in this episode, to be clear; she hated Rudeus for years after she last met him (imagine being a young girl, watching your big brother beat up your dad... not a good look for him lol) but after hearing her dad and Ruijerd (among others) praise Rudeus to no end for a very long time; she became terrified of him, a result of seeing her "no-good" brother being highly respected by every single person she meets at school, she didn't want to be compared to her brother because A) she hated him and B) because Rudeus is an exceptional mage despite this...
imagine being compared to your older brother; who is described as being exceptional to the point of being called a prodigy... but you witnessed this same prodigy years ago beating down your father, that hate/fear won't go away so easily... but after she realised that Rudeus was just as scared that Norn would reject him if he tried reaching out, she couldn't bring herself to hate/fear him anymore, it's hard to be scared shitless of someone who is also indirectly scared of you... the fact that she began to see traces of Paul in Rudeus helped too

Made sence since he is her brother and she finally san him him like one.

I allso love the paralels between Rudeus and Norne reconciliation and Rudeus and Paul reconciliatión.
Onlly thing both needed to see was the other person's Face... perhaps If Rudeus woud have look at his brother's face things woud have turnd out very diferent.
I really like reading from Norn's point or view she feels so genuine.
Aisha fells a lot like a "siscon's wet dream" she wares a maid outfit and its all flirty and clever and mischivous and love her brother and yare yare yare, thats not all there is to Aisha shure, but that pedo bait shit really turned me off.
Norne on the other hand feels a lot more like a real little sister.
she acts like a girl her age the good the bad and the ugly.
Funny how in a series full with excepcional and powerful characters and ordinary giro manga to become one of my favorites.
Honestly as someone whos read the lightnovels, im so excited yeah im not ready for turning point 3 😫 but im excited to see peoples reactions when it comes out.
Also personally this is the most well done chapter this season so far and im including the first half the season. Im so glad they did norns perspective so good. It felt like a true honoring of the light novel.
8:15 i haven't rewatched S1 in a while, but i can dumb it down to a short summary. Rudy was beating Paul cause Paul basically said that Rudy is really talented and strong but there he was just goofing around having fun adventuring, all while Paul was so tired and trying really hard to find all other family members. This somewhat caused a misunderstanding which lead to Rudy punching Paul, Rudy was expecting Paul to be happy they finally reunited, while Paul was expecting Rudy to be serious about the situation. At the end they reconciled, Paul was just so down in the dumps he didn't realized that Rudy is basically just still a kid and he didn't took account that Rudy also had to go through a lot, Rudy was also understanding and realized his mistakes as well.

Right. I rarely watch him because of his mindless saying. There are times when I enjoy his reaction, but there are ones that make me mad.
The way he said that make it like Norn's problem or others don't really matter because Rudy had the worst one. Its like saying I had suffer the worst possible thing, and I deem everyone's suffering as minor.
He still suffered mentally for it, enough to commit soduko. Norn was nowhere near on the edge.

People don’t want you to watch the opening? I’ve watched it and I don’t know what they don’t want you to see. It hasn’t spoiled anything for me- almost no opening has- I don’t have the context necessary for it to spoil anything and I cannot get that context without knowing what’s going to happen but if I already know it, I cannot be spoiled in the first place.
I’m of the opinion of just enjoy the show without worrying too much. The opening is part of the experience. It’s one thing if you don’t care about an opening and skip it after first viewing, but it’s another to miss out. This show has some great music for one.
My interest now is on that next title. Something big is about to change again, and the last two times began rather negatively. I’m bracing myself. (Plus I’m annoyed to have to wait a week.)
Anyway, of course these are my two cents; your opinion may vary.
If you don't look too closely at it, you won't be spoiled on any big reveals. But you will be spoiled on many things, even if you don't pay close attention.
For example mid-way through. You see an action scene that is very in-canon. That's a spoiler. "Oh so we will see something like that later this season"
If you pay closer attention, even bigger spoilers that spoil the climax of the arc.
Of course Rudy is the STRONGEST of the school ! On his first day, he defeated Silent Fitz who was considered to be the Top dog (because "he" beated Lilinia/Persenia who were bullying everyone), and a few months later, he fucking one-shotted Babigadi, one of Demon Kings ! Between his mana pool, his chantless magic (who allows him to use instantly almost any offensive spell he knows) and knowledge of physics from our world, even the teachers are scrubs compared to him and he might be able to solo the entire school by himself (okay except Badigabi if he was serious)

Technically the strongest in the school is Badigadi, however since he and all the other strongest people in the school keep hanging around Rudy there's a rumor that he's somehow their leader.

I am not emotionally ready for turning point 3.
What I also think the anime did a poor job with is that according to LN, Rudeaus wasn't fat when he was bullied, I believe he calls himself moderately fit or something. It's being a hikikomori what made him fat and ugly. And I think that that is important to show that being bullied is not reserved only for fat and ugly people, and being fat can have a psychological bases (it's still bad for you so go to the doctor and try to live a healthy live if you are fat!)

They did good job with adapting this ep but the manga did better job conveying Norn's fear of Rudeus

I just read the manga adaptation of this episode the other day and im not sure how differently this happens in the novel, but damn did the anime adaptation let me down. The manga was a millions times better, felt so much more of a drowning feeling from Norn and Rudy felt way more desperate for his sisters wellbeing.
Rudy's brother was supposed to feel more like a driving reason for him not to give up on Norn too, but he only mentioned him once and it felt like he was just an after thought after, despite the title of the episode being about him.
Highly reccomend checking out the manga adaption of these chapters.
the LN is ten times better but that's what you have to deal with when making an adaptation, not everything can be included sadly..
