I'd argument this is THE most difficult turning point... This is the first time that it fells in rudy's hand. HE has to choose between abandoning his family to save his parents while receiving the knowledge that he will regret something if he does that. That's something that will literally can change rudy's life 180 degrees, and he's in the position that whatever the consequences, he chose that
Redeus all his (new) life has done what hitogami advices to him and his life has been good. The turning point here is that Rudeus for the first time in his life will disobey one order of Hitogami.
Not necessarily, as Rudy didn't meet Hitogami until he was caught up in the Teleport Incident. Aka., he never meet Hitogami for 10 years of his life. The advice's Hitogami has given so far are, - help Ruijerd to clear the name of the Supards - meet Kishirika, which resulted in him getting the Foresight eye - go to Ranoa Magic Academy to get cured of his ED - don't go to Begaritt Continent All of these are linked to something, especially if you check the hints presented in the Anime.
@@Sup_D "Rudy didn't meet Hitogami until he was caught up in the Teleport Incident" But that's it right there, Hitogami didn't show up until right after Turning Point 1. Why did Hitogami specifically show up then and not before? @@Sup_D I've read the whole LN as well, but I'm just saying what someone should be able to deduce given what the anime has shown to this point. although I am Russian and speak English poorly, I watch your reactions with pleasure, and at least I note that you have a very pleasant pronunciation, which is understandable even to non-native English speakers
I've never thought that Turning Points necesaarily meant "crazy shit is going down this episode", I always understood it as "what happens here is a defining moment in Rudeus' life that changes his current trajectory and outlook going forward". Cuz that's sort of what the term Turning Point means, it's a point in time that turns your life around and changes you. Obviously most "Turning points" in someone's like will be big, crazy events, especially in a fantasy world with magic, but I think major life decisions and dilemmas that affect the path of your life will probably count as Turning Points as well, and this seems like one of them (mainly cuz this is the 1st time ever that Rudy is not following Hitogami's advice, which seems like a big decision to make)
This is not spoilers so safe to read if you do read comments. But what a lot people overlook about Turning Point 2 is it's not what happens in that episode that is most important. That conflict with Orsted is what helped trigger Eris choice to leave. Think of how different Rudy's life and season 2 would be if Eris never left. Turning Points while sometimes the episode with them is absurd. Sometimes it's how they are more like a Turning Point a new chapter for the characters we have come to love and what this means for the greater world too in some ways.
I stop reading yt comments for OP and MT, I have my Editors give me a TL;DR of what I should know about. My editor Already removed 4 MT spoiler comments so far.

Eris is the probably the safest at this point training with the sword god. Are we going to see that in OVA? They skip it completely but they didnt skip Nina.
Leaving your pregnant wife for two years trip (going and go back) us already hard enough. He wont be on the time when shes giving birth. And he will miss the golden time of his child life. And will Sylphie and the baby even gonna be OK? Sylphie might die from the child birth, or maybe someone might attack the family while hes gone. I dont think you understand how hard decision this is for Rudy
My theory and interpretation as anime-only is that this is more of a Turning point not only because it's something that will affect and define his future, but also the first time Rudy goes *against* Hitogami's instructions and advice. Why he is so adamant about Rudy not going there will be probably a big plot point moving forward.
4:40 thats why i love the source material you know a litle nice detail. My favorite part of reading the ln what side character's inner monologue how they process stuff
This is still my second favorite turning point (the first not being animated), but it probably won't make sense why yet. How it changes the world like in Turning Point 1, how it completely flips everything, how it breaks Rudeus' life... It all will reveal itself.
All the discussion will be about the second half of the episode, and rightly so I'll admit. But credit to the anime for showing so much other stuff in the first half without feeling like a messy episode. We saw Rudy's daily routine, how his relationship with Norn has improved, spent a shopping date with Aisha, checked Nanahoshi’s and Cliff's research progress, checked in on Zanoba and Julie, as well as Ginger's "backstory". All of that in less than half an episode is crazy.
Weakest ... because the consequences are probably gonna be quite delayed, but there is no way of knowing until the moment. I also fully expect some future episode where Hitogami is gonna show Rudy some visions of what "could have been", its gonna hit like a train if it comes right after the "regret" he speaks of comes to fruition, whatever it might be.
Turning Point aren't exactly just restricted to the one episode plot, it's related to everything before and after. Also each Turning Point focuses on the events that occur around Rudy himself, and how it messes up with his life (in part with decision he himself made). - TP1 messed his normal happy slice-of-life. - TP2 messed his sub-consciousness by getting completely thrashed (and the effect of which we see in Rudy's panic attack when he first meets Nanahoshi at the Academy).
4:38 I'm pretty sure that was mentioned in season 1 when Rudeus was talking about Paul and Lilia's backstory, might be wrong though. I've re-read the novel recently so i might be remembering that.
"Weakest Turning Point" words of a man who knows nothing of what is yet to come. This is the most important turning point in the entire series, and for the sequel series whenever that gets written
This is (vague) spoilers so don't read. . . . . . . Funnily enough, looking back at it, this might be one of the biggest turning points there is. Rudeus defying the Man Gods wishes. The result of him going to save his family results in both gaining and losing family. And the love he gains results in his biggest impact on the world's future.
This is the second most important turning point in Mushoku, not just the chapter, but all the ramifications of the decision Rudeus made in this moment, isnt a direct "Turning point" like the others, the rest of the season will be the turning point itself, this just the first step down the rabbit hole.
My theory here is that we're still looking things from Rudeus' POV. Therefore even though turning points happen around Rudy, they have never been about him. Turning point one being the displacement incident, could have affected way more than just Rudy, perhaps someone else more important to not the MC but the plot. Turning point 2 has Orsted (a world power, unlike Rudy) finding out at least Eris and Ruijerd are not where they were expected to be (was his power premonition? did Orsted miscalculate? does this affect whatever plan he was cooking?). Then turning point 3 has to be about some treasure or person or power about to be discovered. Basically, the consequences to this turning point have to make a difference (not necessarily to Rudy but to the big picture). Let's say Rudy could go and return to normal but they awaken the apocalipse fiend or the ancient gizmo or something...
Well, a turning point is a major change in Rudy’s life, right? I’m just glad it didn’t start very negatively like the last two, but we still don’t know the full extent of the change. All we know so far is it’s starting with Rudy leaving his family on a multi-year journey to not loose other family, and it involved purposely ignoring the Man-God’s advice. I’m really excited to see where this goes.
Turning Point 3 is genius in that we've been primed to expect some kind of cataclysmic or violent event, but it's really just whether Rudeus should stay with his family or go rescue his mother.
the whole volume 12 of the novel is the turning point 3, so, from this episode to the end of the season, a turning point change rudeus life in one way or another
The “weakest Turning Point” is about to fuck Rudy’s life up the most and you don’t even know it yet lmao, the events that follow Rudy’s journey to save his family are story altering and lead to a huge shift in Rudy’s life and character development.
Yay a fellow audiobook listener. Fun tip, if not using Audible, Audible for some reason has volume 16 and 17 early. So personally I'm looking forward to the next books after that one now. Also hopefully you're enjoying the books.
TP1 : Rudy got transported out of nowhere, doesn't have other choice but to survive TP2 : Rudy got his ass beaten by orsted, and this one also something that rudeus can't handle TP3 : Rudy got a messege from geese, and needed to make hard decisions by himself. But this time rudeus made his own choice and even disregard man-god advices, which makes this tp important for rudeus development.
16:21 Elinalise wants to break up with Cliff because the journey is going to take a long time. It takes over a year from the Magic Academy to the place Paul & Co are at, and that's just one way journey. Meaning it would take Elinalise atleast close to 3 years at minimum to comeback, assuming they solve whatever issue quickly and rescue Zenith fast. If not, it could take 4-6 years or even more depending on the situation.
12:00 Unfortunately, Joe, in that world, it is STRONGLY believed that sexual activity during pregnancy is dangerous for the baby. So that means.....Rudi is SOL on the "getting some" front. What a nonsensical world, right?
Man, what an episode. In regards to this being the "weakest" turning point. I don't really think so. Reason being mainly the fact that Rudeus is going against Hitogami's advise for the first time. That, in and of itself could be considered HUGE if you think how smooth everything has gone so far when it comes to Hitogami's ted talks
The journey to Begaritt takes at least year, assuming that the trouble is solved the moment they arrive it'll be over two years before they would be back. That's why Elinalise plans to break up with Cliff, she doesn't want to make him wait and waste his life considering she doesn't even know if she survives this, plus her super low self worth.
I mean people said Turning Point 2 was underwhelming since Rudy came back to life at the end and no one died, but we saw just how much that Orsted moment changed Rudy's life in just the next episode. I'm an anime only so I'm not sure, but I think Turning Point 3 will be similar where the choice he made in this episode will change the show in a big way again. And I think it is also another turning point for the show itself, changing it from slice of life to I presume back to action-adventure.
I don't blame you for thinking this is the weakest _Turning Point._ But trust me when I say that this will not only seamlessly connect to the next one, but it will define _everything_ going forth... On a separate note. The scene where Rudy learns Sylphie is pregnant is one of my favorites in the whole story. When I first read this passage in the light novel, I was moved just about to tears by it. He was lonely and pathetic for a very long time, with no prospects of any connections in his previous life. Even with renewed vigor in this one, he has struggled to make any relationships of this level of intimacy for a long time. Now, after all that toil, he is having a child with a dear and loving wife. What greater absolution could there be to such loneliness? The catharsis of it was overwhelming, and I could not hold it in. It was beautiful.
TP the way I see it is more like a change in genre Before TP1- slice of life TP1- Adventure, world building TP2- School arc, connections TP3- Rescue, Adventure?????? TP4? TP5? TP6? TP7? TP8? And think about it if this TP has less impact, with him being a father, what do you think will happen if say, "rudy dies" in his journey, or "another mana disaster" happens near sylphy? Or "both his family dies witbout him being there", which poison would you choose?
There are only 5 turning points, turning point 3 doesn’t really change the direction of the series the way you’re listing to, turning points 4 and 5 definitely do though
Dude, i know, but its better for people to think "its that many?" Than "is that all?" Its better for them to not expect on how many and when the TP is, to maximize the trauma, but since you already said it, thanks...😐
18:57 Well, granted, it wasnt as spectacular as TP1 and TP2, but, this one is a lot harder, cause the others just happened and Rudy couldnt do anything about it, TP3 forced him to make a very unfair choice, either way some of his family is put into danger and either way there will be regrets related to the choice made.
From what source-readers keep spoiling and what Mangod said... ... it seems both paths lead to Rudy getting a new waifu either way. And, no, I don't want a clarification.
Turning Point doesn't mean a big bombastic moment. It's a moment that changes the direction of the story in the long term. In this case, Rudy's decision will have consequences that carry forward for the rest of the story.
fresh learning LN lore is grate, keep reading it only gets beter. up to book 10~11ish (if you want i could give you a specific chapter number in vol.11) is adapted by the anime but you're a ways away lol
For real this isnt a turning point like BOOOM MAGIC EXPLOSION or BOOM HOLE IN THE STOMACH, but for sure this one is the most complex yet.. This turning point doesnt have an immediate effect, but as the things progress it will make sense And why it is so scary? Its Rudeus first time going against Hitogami's advice
Turning Point 3 is without doubt the most important of the 3 you've seen, and it's going to take you some time to understand why and what was exactly the TP3. To put it plainly, without spoilers: Turning Points are not particularly spectacular events. As the name suggests, Turning Points are... points. Precise pivotal moments. There're reasons they're called that. Anime-only viewers may not yet fully understand the reasons...but they can at least ask themselves the question "why are these episodes called Turning Points?" and think about it. At this point, there are enough elements to read Mushoku Tensei slightly differently.
I think that what the Man God is doing is that he's manipulating Rudeus into enjoying a happy, comfortable life free of struggle, so that he'll become complacent and not oppose him in whatever his actual schemes are.

Turning points are both something I wait for and dread. Hope this one ends better than the last 2
16:21 Elinalise wants to break up with Cliff because the journey is going to take a long time.
This turning point ain't weak, none of them are.
1:48 You’ re almost right about the basement lol.
Spoiler
But that’s turning point 4😂
12:33 I saw that
Yeah. I would include the rest of these upcoming episodes (till the end) to be a continuation of Turning Point 3
Sylphie won, but don't forget there ARE three spots on the Olympic medal platform.
@10:35 By "Thank you" Rudy means "thank you fitz, for the fix" with his ED 😂😂😂
12:00 Unfortunately, Joe, in that world, it is STRONGLY believed that sexual activity during pregnancy is dangerous for the baby. So that means.....Rudi is SOL on the "getting some" front. What a nonsensical world, right?
NEW EP ILL BE BACK
Man, what an episode.
We are not prepared for what is coming
TP the way I see it is more like a change in genre
Before TP1- slice of life
TP1- Adventure, world building
TP2- School arc, connections
TP3- Rescue, Adventure??????
TP4? TP5? TP6? TP7?
Dude, i know, but its better for people to think "its that many?" Than "is that all?"
Its better for them to not expect on how many and when the TP is, to maximize the trauma, but since you already said it, thanks...😐
Zanoba finished the figures by Rudeus's help 😅 but it's take so long to finish
18:57 Well, granted, it wasnt as spectacular as TP1 and TP2, but, this one is a lot harder, cause the others just happened and Rudy couldnt do anything about it, TP3 forced him to make a very unfair choice, either way some of his family is put into danger and either way there will be regrets related to the choice made.
From what source-readers keep spoiling and what Mangod said...
... it seems both paths lead to Rudy getting a new waifu either way.
And, no, I don't want a clarification.
And here we go 😏
🔥 I think TURNING POINT 3 is about RUDY NOT FOLLOWING HITOGAMI (MAN GOD)🔥
Turning Point doesn't mean a big bombastic moment. It's a moment that changes the direction of the story in the long term. In this case, Rudy's decision will have consequences that carry forward for the rest of the story.
Turning point 3 will hit when turing point 4 pop off
12:33
NAAH WHO THE FUCK?!
And here we go... a domino effect😢
fresh learning LN lore is grate, keep reading it only gets beter. up to book 10~11ish (if you want i could give you a specific chapter number in vol.11) is adapted by the anime but you're a ways away lol
Wouldn't be surprised if Eris is in Begarrit. I'm anime only btw. This is just a pure guess.
she's getting an ova this season is what I heard. It'll clear stuff up for you
For real this isnt a turning point like BOOOM MAGIC EXPLOSION or BOOM HOLE IN THE STOMACH, but for sure this one is the most complex yet.. This turning point doesnt have an immediate effect, but as the things progress it will make sense
And why it is so scary? Its Rudeus first time going against Hitogami's advice
ターニングポイント3がなければターニングポイント4が起きないって考えると3はかなり重要
これからのルディの人生を大きく変えるよ
そしてターニングポイント3は1番長いからね
In case you see it, don't watch the latest PV its heavy with spoilers
Turning Point 3 is without doubt the most important of the 3 you've seen, and it's going to take you some time to understand why and what was exactly the TP3. To put it plainly, without spoilers: Turning Points are not particularly spectacular events. As the name suggests, Turning Points are... points. Precise pivotal moments. There're reasons they're called that. Anime-only viewers may not yet fully understand the reasons...but they can at least ask themselves the question "why are these episodes called Turning Points?" and think about it. At this point, there are enough elements to read Mushoku Tensei slightly differently.
Joe, excited for GrandPaul.
Can you imagine leaving your pregnant wife? Nah. Between my wife and child & my parents, I'm picking my wife & child.
He's so on edge lol
The next eps has been delayed to May 26....ffs why
4:22 PLS I NEED REACTIONS FOR THE NOVELS FROM YOU
I think that what the Man God is doing is that he's manipulating Rudeus into enjoying a happy, comfortable life free of struggle, so that he'll become complacent and not oppose him in whatever his actual schemes are.
