    Skin pigmentation or hyperpigmentation can cause uneven color and dark patches. Excessive production of melanin is responsible for this condition. Hyperpigmentation can occur on almost any part of the body, including the face, neck, hands, arms and legs.
    Finding the cause of excess melanin production is the key to reducing pigmentation. This is generally attributed to internal factors like hormones, genetics, medications and UV exposure. Skin inflammation from skin injury, burning, and acne is called PIH or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. You can get rid of hyperpigmentation naturally with DIY skin products and the help of some simple and easy home remedies.
    AHA or BHA can help exfoliate the skin and reduce superfial pigmentation from melasma, hormonal pigmentation and post acne inflammation. Neostrata makes a good range of products.
    Retinol based products contain Vitamin A. This gets converted to retinoic acid. It works both as a exfoliant, but it also slows down skin pigment production or melanin production.
    Vitamin C or ascorbic acid can be useful. It acts as a free radical scavenger and can be used with Vitamin A in your daily skin care routine.
    Another skin care tip is the use of plant extracts such as Potato, Tumeric, Aloe Vera, and Lemon. Apple cider vinegar can also help. Many companies now use natural plant extracts including Neostrata and Lytera.
    BHA or salicylic acid combined with low strength hydroquinone is another skin care tip to reduce most forms of skin pigmentation. This is called Superfade and can be purchased from most pharmacies, including myskinpharmacy.com.au
    As a laser dermatologist I use over a dozen types of lasers in various wavelengths, including pico and nano second lasers, Fraxel, Clear and Brilliant, fractional laser resurfacing and even ablative CO2 and erbium lasers. I always give a diagnosis with an examination before providing a laser solution. Please do not ask me to recommend a laser solution for your skin type, as a diagnosis is needed prior to advice. Freckles, melasma, sun damage, actinic keratosis and age spots all require specific lasers or IPL- BBL in some cases. As with all my treatments, a bespoke approach gives the best results.
    Stay safe, and remember this- diagnosis before treatment. Many deaths have occurred due to poor management as melanomas have been treated with laser from non-medical or Specialist clinics. These DIY tips are designed as a safe ‘hint’ for treating your pigmentation using products that can be bought online, or at a local pharmacy.
    One new video every Saturday morning, Brisbane Australia time, Dr Davin Lim. Laser & Aesthetic dermatologist.

    Hello Dr. I used to used a BHA and aha exfoliant on my skin and that helped clear my acne/ texture on my skin as well as hyper pigmentation from acne. I had to stop as I got pregnant . My skin broke out a lot throughout my pregnancy and now though post delivery my skin as cleared up I have a lot of marks on my skin. As I am still nursing my baby what aha/BHA or any other treatment can I use safely to clear my hyper pigmentation. Thanks

    Quick video on products to consider if you have pigmentation. These are over the counter products that actually can work, especially for mild pigmentation. I use lasers for all forms of resistant pigmentation including freckles, sun damage, melasma and age spots. Diagnosis is the first step .... so please consult a dermatologist in PERSON if in doubt. Hi Doctor I know you get hundreds of emails a day and I have really appreciated that you have taken the time to respond to a few of mine in the past. Just another question please - any names for a U.K. dermatologist who specialises in acne scar revision? I have been on your website and you have named Doctors in the US, Singapore, France and Germany (i think) but none for the U.K. I would be massively grateful, thank you! Otherwise I might have to seriously think about a trip to Brisbane next year!

The thing is I've never used Vitamin C and I don't know if serums are the best way to incorporate it into my skincare or there are other and more effective products with a different texture and I don't know what percent is ideal to use for acne marks and as a new user of this ingredient.

      el_. Vitamin E, A, and C for external use SHOULD BE the strongest you can get it. I know that if you use too much vitamin A internally, you can damage your kidneys and your hair will fall out too. Stick with EXTERNAL remedies, even from the doctors, dermatologists, and aestheticians.

I tried all acne medications available but it was no good. I even tried many diets and advice but in the end i got some metabolism disorder and I ended up with even more acne. My last hope was to try special laser treatments and when that failed too, it seemed I will never find solution. Then I run across this page. It’s name is: *AcneCureOnline. Anyway, over here in the US, I won't use it either. Super fade is only 2% hydroquinoine. We need 4% to be effective right? If you are using Super fade should we rest after 3 months or its safe to use until the pigment improves at the 2%?

    I live in the US and I most definitely can not afford laser treatments, however I use retinols, AHA’s/Bha’s and have just recently discovered amazing Vitamin C products to add to my skincare routine. I didn’t have any sun spots a year ago and about 8 months ago I was using certain products that I feel speed up that process for me. I have seen a vast improvement but the ones on my nose are very difficult to remove. Is there a reason why?

    Dr. Lim, Thank you for the wonderful video!! Are we not supposedly using 2%-4% hydroquinone more than 2-3 months then take a break? I just purchased Obagi blender to mix with retin-a & Obagi clear to add to my daily skin care routine. THANKS!! :)

    Hello doctor I'm 33yrs I got melasma for so long ..I tried many products but it rises again and again now it's becomes so dark almost whole face..it's also always so itchy especially when expose to the sun and air and dust..can you help suggest me what to do??

    I was using hydroquinione 4% for a number of months and then looked at my skin and I really wanted to lighten it but it doesn't get any lighter unless you look at my neck. That is light. I wear the lightest shade of foundation in any line and I should be happy with that. Asian beauty standards were getting the best of me but I am ok being the lightest shade as it is.

    In Bulgaria it is literally cheaper and much faster to do the laser treatments, rather than to buy 3 Neostrata Products!

      Aren't they? How do you finance all those machines? Or is there such high demand?

    • @yamaksy
      @yamaksy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can not obviously answer for Dr Lim, but I could give u an insight how things work out in poor Bulgaria:
      the banks buy the machines and then the lease them out to Salons and Clinics.

    • @peteabc1
      @peteabc1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's usually how it works in capitalism, but leasing doesn't mean free. I know it's tax deductible, but you must still earn that money and your wage and wage of administrative workers and a rent.. But if it pays off at lower prices, good for us.

      Imagine the lowest salaries in EU combined with the lowest taxes in EU. Welcome, to Bulgaria! That is how they achieve those prices!
