Shoot, you left out pretty much ALL the important technical info. For instance, on the front discs... how many bolts cone off? Where are they? What do you do with the caliper while removing rotor? How to decompress caliper? How to live up how pass, etc. etc... Your video is pretty much useless. At least you admitted you had no business doing this work. Turns out you had no business making a video either. Ain't no vintage filter for ineptitude!
It's one thing to fail at something like brakes or a video, but you've managed to fail at being a decent human being. You don't like the video? Go watch something else. Jason's a good guy and his videos are entertaining. What a joke.

Thanks Wyatt! I'm kinda just getting started so that means a lot. I'd also suggest ChrisFix on TH-cam. He's done several videos that have been helpful to me working on this truck and others.
@@JasonExplainsThings I would hate to think you got charged a grand for a brake adjustment. I just looked up the videos before adjusting my brakes to remind myself which way they go (down tightens when working through the slot in back). there is still the question of how far to tighten if I don't have it jacked up and so can't feel the drag. I expect I tighten it down and back off a certain amount, but what amount? Plus backing off is harder because you need to hold back the ratcheting tank, thereby needing 2 screwdrivers at once.

Glad to see someone replacing every little piece, after 30 yrs. I believe it is a must. My next project is body bushings, like to see you do it first, :) You and your camera crew are doing a great job. Motor Trend hasn't called yet to give you a TV Show?
Fourth video of your I watched. I hope you picked up a copy of the service manual for your year since then; it would cover a lot of items including the one you missed. My 1990 had similar calipers; the new brake pad tabs had to be peened down with a hammer so they would be a tight fit on the caliper else they rattle and knock when in use. Even with the service manual, skimming isn't reading (I skim a lot) and I muffed that the first time! 4WD 8-lug was a PITA compared to yours (which is extremely similar to 1970s Chrysler passenger cars) because the lugs held the rotor to the hub and replacing the rotor ended up requiring a hydraulic press; easy enough to knock the old lugs out but getting the new lugs installed... that was a trial until that trip to harbor freight with a coupon purchased the solution 🤑 Thanks!
Thanks Rich! I really appreciate you watching the back catalogue! Yes this is NOT my best video. I actually reference it in the story video that this is the only one I wish I would've done better. @@JasonExplainsThings Great! I only saw the Chilton so far but I still have a bunch of videos to watch. Chilton and Haynes manuals are ok but the factory service manual will get you through a lot more.
I was thinking those drum brakes came off and went on too easily, and we didn't see any adjustment done. Don't worry, I hate doing drum brakes as well, and I would be hesitant to replace brake shoes on my own.
😂I have a 79 Dodge RamCharger 4x4, and this was helpful as I needed to replace rear brake cylinders and hardware! But now I'm wondering if I might have to test and replace master cylinder & booster, is something that would leave to a pro though!?
I could've done this job from start to finish now. I was a bit out of my element and didn't have some of the helpful tools that would've made it easier. But hey, that's how you learn.
Sorry to make so many comments. I have gone through all the night mares, as will you and others. Anyway I wanted comment on the front brake pads, those shims they put on them sometimes slide out, half off the pad, so I just take them off, other wise your pad wears at an angle. just keep an eye on it.
Glad I watched your video. I'm about to do the brakes on my '85 d150 and will be sure to get all new hardware. I could definitely see the calipers and/or master cylinder being bad, especially after the previous owner used it as a farm truck with NO FLUIDS.
I feel like a complete noob asking this BUT you bout the front bearings and seals. During installation you packed it with grease. You inserted something in the back part, then tapped in the seal. Then in the front you said you put the bearing, what did you load in the back? Is there a rear bearing you reused or did you misspeak about outing the bearing in?
Hey Jason... I had same issue with after redoing all brakes even new master cylinder all the student brake booster goes bad and got super hard brakes with no vacuum and little braking power... Did the brake place explain why it screwed with the booster by chance?
Hi I changed the pads on my 1990 ramcharger, but after changing the caliper clips or metalwork, my brakes sound like a rattle on every small road bump, any suggestions?
I have a 1986 Dodge D150 4×4 pickup I can't find an after market that makes front rotors for this truck. Any suggestions? Dodge discontinued them in 2004
Um. It was a while ago so I honestly don't remember. I want to say around $200 for the stuff I did, before I realized the my brake booster, front calipers and other things were also bad. If it's just pads, springs, etc it's all pretty cheap.
Never say it'll be easy or not that hard with a old dodge lol after owning 3 of em it seems all I gotta do is say that phrase and it becomes a nightmare thats how a pad slap became calipers that became the caliper hoses that became the hard line
I can Honestly say, I have never put any type of lube on those points for the drum brakes, Probably should do that next time, always have done front where brake pads ride

There is inner & outer bearing both diff sizes, the inner bearing requires a seal that must be pressed in. & greased exactly as in video

Where did you purchase all the replacement parts for your drum brakes?
Autozone. A great online seller would be Rock Auto.

I have a 1988 Dodge D 150 truck where is the inline fuel filter at? I've looked under the truck by the gas tank and cannot find it no where
It’s in the engine bay. If I remember correctly it is on the front passenger side.
Where did you get all the hardware for this touchup.. how long did it take for you to get your boosters
The hardware for the drum brakes was all in a kit. As for the other questions this was done Jan, 2018 so I don’t remember. 😁
I got a 82 d150, was wondering if you had the part numbers and whatnot. I’m new to the truck scene and I don’t wanna mess anything up lol
A great site to look all that up is rockauto.com
You wouldn't happen to have the parts numbers for the inner and outer wheel bearings would you? They look like different sizes.
Sorry I don’t. Rockauto is a great site for looking up part numbers
Hey Jason,
Can I get the part number for the front rotors from duralast?
I don't sorry. I'd just search for it on rock auto or a similar site based on your model info.
i just got a brake hardware kit for the front , where do the black rubber bands go ? (1990 ram)

I was thinking master cylinder when I seen that lol I has that problem with my 86 but I only replaced front brakes
Where can I get those brake retainer clips? Thanks

Tomas that means a lot! Thanks man!

Take it into a shop asap. No shame in it.
Hammer the ear on the outer pad so it makes for a tighter fit.

It's not lube. It's more of a high temp silicone to create a membrane to prevent chattering.
