This docu shows the difficulties of AAA titles and the many many hurdles you need to overcome. Especially when its Naughty Dog that put an absolute insane amount of work into the tiniest things, no one in the industry even goes for. And im honest, i dont know anyone else that has this amount of quality in their games as them. Its just as it is. They are not shying away from that extra work for that one little different animation. Absolute nuts of a studio.
@richardcarson3596 I disagree, most of the hate mob probably will have given up after hating part 2, if abby isn't present in part 3 to appease them, ND have essentially given into the hate mob by giving them what they want. However if Laura doesn't want to do it again, then absolutely, Neil should respect her decision as will most of us who love part 2
@@MXO839 there is no story there, so there is no appeasement if she is excluded. neil said (or lied) that tlou is about joel and ellie. abby, while a literal skinover of joel is not joel or ellie.

I love these docs. A Last of Us 3 would be my most anticipated game of all time. I can’t believe we are going to get it someday. Hopefully not too far away.
Gotta respect you man. You know I've watched you do your speed runs from time to time and that's awesome. Got some cool tips for my play. TLoU2 is a game I've probably played more than all other games combined for a few years. I finally managed to get it through with grounded permadeath per act which is hell. 😃 Anyway what I wanted to say that it was such a joy to see you like this documentary even if we all disagree about some things. You're like it's easy to assume when you do this thing that you do that you're sharp focused guy. But still pretty empathetic. You're cool bro! Greetings from Finland!
The beat part us when Troy says to people, "Well tell me a better version." The People who are angry don't even have a "better" version because all of their versions are Joel living happily ever after, which isn't what the series is about. To be honest, I would have simply made TLoU 1.5 😂. I don't have the creativity to challenge your audience and challenge their biases and really get them to see another perspective of what your actions caused.
i think the pacing could have been done much better. one of the major mistakes of the story was that joel died after 2 hours into a 25-35 hour game, there was no build-up and it felt definitely forced. joel and tommy conveniently running into the guys that were after them and conveniently saving them and them being conveniently very open with strangers while they were in a small closed basement and then another convenience that ellie came right when joel was tortured. i just really think that this major part of the game felt WAY too coincidental and got a lot of people way more mad than necessary, because again, there was no build-up to a loved character’s death whatsoever. but overall, the rest of the story was good. (sorry if there are any mistakes, english isn’t my first language)
@@queenc9570 They were definitely going for shock, and it worked for me. The rest of the game I was dealing with the emotion I felt after what happened, just like Ellie. But everyone responds to things differently, of course. I didn't want Joel to die but I was happy with the story I got. The problem with Troy's comment is that everyone has a different "better" in their heads and you just can't please everyone.
@queenc9570 The game does a lot of work to establish the setting through character dialogue and "throwaway" lines. Something i didn't notice until like my 8th time rewatching/playing the game is that the storm on Seattle Day 3 is hinted at immediately at the start of Abby Day 1. Manny hooks up with a weather girl and she was "talking his ear off about some storm." E.g. the one on Day 3, and he also mentions that she made Isaac aware of it. Jackson the community is probably named after the nearby town of Jackson, which Ellie and Dina patrol into at the very start of the game. On that patrol they pass a lookout that shows the town and the fact it has a resort with a gate around it. A resort would be a fairly built up building with good vantage point so it's obvious why the Abby crew would have chose it to hole up in. The Last of Us show makes this even more explicit, but the first game goes to great lengths to show us how Joel "softened up." He became a hardened killer because he was reduced to base instinct after the death of his daughter. His relationship with Ellie "undid" that by reverting him to a part of himself which had died with Sara-being a father. I want to emphasize that being a cold blooded killer was not the natural state of Joel, it was his way of surviving through trauma and once he began healing, the acute distrust and over the top aggressiveness would disappear as well. The game also went to great lengths to show Jackson is an open community. I don't quite remember if it's later in the game than Joel's death, (remembering now, it was several times, once in a flashback from a few years earlier and then the last scene of the game where he said he got coffee from), but there are several instances where Joel specifically says he traded with people "passing through" e.g. what amounts to strangers that nobody in the community knows. And they are able to differentiate them from "raiders" and other bad people; Tommy says "What if we get hit by raiders again?" when arguing with Ellie after Joel dies, which implies the community has been exposed to both kinds of people and knows how to tell the difference. Sure, the Abby crew were also strangers, but 1) they helped take out the horde chasing after Abby and Joel and Tommy, 2) they were very respectful and polite and invited them inside when they didn't have to, 3) they even offered to help brush the horses which let's be real no people with bad intentions would do because that isn't something obvious to manipulate someone into trusting you, and 4) they had good vibes overall and a spirit of cooperation. That only changed when they learned their names. And the game PAINFULLY points this out through the initial silence and the change in facial expression and Tommy saying "What? Y'all act like you've heard of us or something?" Keep in mind, they have 0 idea who thr Abby crew are, and it's not like Joel or Tommy realistically remember all the people they might have crossed. They were literally just another random group who were shocked to learn their names and they had no time to process the whole situation. Even if they did, it was too late from the moment Joel and Tommy set foot inside. I could go on, but there is an insane amount of detail and careful construction to this game. It's not perfect by any means, but it does do a helluva job of telling exactly the story it wants to in a logical and coherent manner.
How would part 3 have you play as Tommy? He walks with a limp now, and can’t see through one of his eyes anymore. What I want is a dlc or smaller spin-off game where you follow Tommy throughout part 2. Oh and they could include flashbacks to his and Joel’s 20 years that we haven’t seen.
He specifically said that the Tommy thing isn’t part 3 and is it’s own small thing…that being said I can see it being something that switches back from after part 2 and back to his time with Joel
I love the last of us 2 honestly! The story is complicated and there’s some unneeded fluff here and there but honestly I love games that question morals and hate and different religions . Ghost of my Tsushima horizon forbidden west and last of us 2 are my top 3 games from sony studios .
Troy Baker saying after he read the ending for part one "You're gonna piss a lot of people off" makes sense, but why didn't he say that to Neil DRUNKman about the entirety of part two 😂
I loved it except that whole part about feminism etc.. not that wasn't supposed to be addressed of course but i think the way she talked about was "too much". I get it it's something she experienced on her skin and made her mad but to me looked a bit out of context
It’s not out of context at all. It was specifically in relation to people saying the violence against women in the game is sexism and too much, which is bullshit. I found that part refreshing and relatable.
