  • Join me as I take a look at the full documentary Grounded II Making The Last of Us Part II, which takes viewers through the development process of Naughty Dog’s acclaimed sequel, The Last of Us Part II. Learn from behind-the-scenes footage of what went into Part II’s development throughout the years, including its launch.
    Certain sections have been edited out because of time constraints on my end and not wanting to discuss those sections in the video.

      That's beacuse they did not even develop it lol. Bend studios did majority of the remake while naughty dog threw in updated animations, gun customization animations, cutscenes and some other minor details and eventually it released under Naughty Dog for obvious reasons.

    On Abby's design. Your argument is that it doesn't make sense, because of lack of food resources. However, the game itself explains that the WLF isn't lacking resources. Especially for their soldiers. The game even shows a gym with soldiers working out right when we start playing as Abby again.
    There's also other scenes showing Abby's gradual changes as she keeps bulking up.
    Even at the end of the game during the final fight. Abby is not as bulky. She looks slimmer and sickly. Why? Because she's been deprived of the resources necessary to maintain her physique.
    The game does a good job of explaining why Abby's body is the way it is and why it changes throughout the game. They put a lot of thought into it.

    • @YorkReacts
      @YorkReacts  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hmmm I must have missed that part where the soldiers are working out and they have an abundance of resources. To me as a player it didn’t make sense. So I guess they didn’t get it accross to me visually or through story enough for me to notice that

      @@YorkReacts this is js a weird take. we have literally never seen any doubting about the other men’s muscling in the game let alone in other games all the time. I think you should take some time to read the comments on that video and reflect on why misogynistic viewers are commenting sexist things in agreement.
      Joel literally lived on scraps and food stamps in the first game not eating a single thing which is STILL eating less then Abby and on top of that doesn’t have close to the same resources as the WLF. Joel is also double Abby’s age, something which in your realistic standards should effect his physique.

    1:45:10 I like how you say that being organized etc. shouldn't push you into making a bigger game. But that is kind of his point too. His point is that they will naturally just try to make a bigger game instead of realizing that the extra productivity should help them cut down on time so crunch isn't necessary. Its the perfectionists dilemma. And they can't really control themselves. So now they have taken extra steps to do everything they can to stop crunch. Some people (including myself admittedly) crunch naturally because we just can't leave work at work sometimes. And maybe I don't have enough going on at home to take my mind off of work so why not just do the work I love anyway?
    You're 100% right in everything you said, but your disagreement was misplaced only because Naughty Dog's stance on crunch was maybe a bit more nuanced than "overtime is crunch".

Showing a key member of the crew being frustrated by feedback in the middle of production fits very well into a documentary like this, and since the theme of women and violence is a key part of the game, it's definitely not out of place. Bro, stop calling this behind-the-scenes. It’s not it’s a documentary on the development of the video game not a behind-the-scenes on the filming of the game.

I don’t take this stuff to seriously. It’s video games after all hah and I appreciate you checking out my video. Hopefully you got something from it other then then details of its BTS or documentary ect. Overall it was an interesting video and I’m glad Naughty Dog released it. I wish more companies showed videos like this about the games they make

      @@YorkReacts And I can absolutely admit to not realizing I was still in defensive mode; I don’t know but I solely took up the role of social justice warrior to those that didn’t understand that $10 was well worth what we were getting, and I so often go off half-cocked but great to talk to someone that can understand the passion 👍🏻

    I think you're dismissing the section of the bad faith articles on violence as merely an outside issue regarding the game, and not one that holds any merit to comment on. In which case, I think you are wrong about that. The context of the female narrative is a conversation the game explores so therefore it is an integral part of that game's development. When she says "if you want to have a serious debate about feminism.." , the response "no we don't though" is frankly irrelevant to her point. She's not responding to the community's needs, that is said to give bts on the storytelling angle, to what it is that story needs. She is giving her advice navigating that space, specifically her female perspective on that aspect, one which serves a great deal for that certain representation. The entire bts of any game involves its devs, so it makes sense it highlights their insight. Why not comment? Especially when artists get threats for their creativity. Of course outside opinions shouldn't go to affect development and the position likely requires some tough skin for combating that but does that mean they shouldn't defend their art? The purpose of the game is to start conversations. Admittingly no one did say the director Halley Gross is "less female" for said reason or the other, but when Polygon publishes the question "How many women were involved in the creation, editing and approval of this trailer? In an industry (and studio) that's predominantly run by men, did women feel comfortable offering a critique?", what does that imply about women and what their development experiences are expected to look like? The misconception here about women holds strong in this industry. Respectfully, this is just to bring awareness, but I'd ask you to reflect on how that particular section made you uncomfortable. Good day

      It didn’t make me uncomfortable she is more then welcome to give her thoughts on the subject. I was more so shocked at her response. I’d personally just rather hear about other aspects of the production.

    Hate saying something like this but, I think Halley made some terrible decisions with the story. Making Dina pregnant? How is that a good idea at all?
