We recently signed up with a Canadian company called Nutrafarms that delivers different cuts of meat ; grass fed beef, pork ,chicken and fish such as salmon and cod. They also do berries and veg. We are not keen on lamb but they do that too. They include a chest freezer with the first order. Everything is flash frozen and vacuum sealed. Their prices are garunteed for three years. We were so thankful we had done this before the pandemic hit as freezers are so hard to find now. It never hurts to be prepared. Loving the way you think ahead and how organized you are Shelby.

Shelby! You’re literally goals! You kept me sane while taking care of my aunt with pancreatic cancer. While she has since passed we watched your videos, my algorithm changed so I’m glad to find you again. Hope to be as organized and loving as a spouse and mother as you seem ❤️
Big freezers are a terrific investment. We saved up and bought a whole house generator to protect what we put in there. We’ve experienced several storm related power outages that lasted up to a week at a time, and gas was hard to find for our portable generator. Very organized. Well done!

Since you have the generator, I thought I might share in case you do solar.This is our 4th house on solar and we learn a little more each time how to better design the system.....might save you some money and grief We are not going with the Tesla batteries but rather Sonnen batteries, they have load shifting (if you are in a tiered electric billing, this could save you a bundle), still allow the panels to operate in grid down situation and can be used with a generator to top off batteries and extend your generator fuel......the Tesla power wall currently does not allow that. Just thought I'd share in case you do solar and want to have a dual system.....Shelby

I giggled just a little at your "old" Kenmore freezer. In my garage, I have one I bought in 1978. And, it's still working. LOVE your method of organizing your freezers.
Those Kenmore freezers just last and last, we sure have gotten our monies worth out of ours. Hugs Shelby
You are the greatest. Saying prayers for your mom and for you all! As I said I work 911 and I am the shift lead. I make sure before the beginning of a shift we stand together and pray! So, I say all my you tube cleaners and channels! Lol. Everyone starts laughing and shakes their heads! We love to watch you and Ken. The more I learn about you, the more I admire. My mother is also on hospice, however, she is in a nursing home. She is 87l I am disabled, visually and physically, but you inspire me to try harder. I have magnification on my computer and I watch you on a 46" monitor. I noticed the bad bruise on your arm! I will keep watching!
Bless your heart, it is difficult when your parent is aged and needs help. My mom is 87 too. You just have to enjoy the moments you have with her, do what you can to help and know that you can be a manager of her care & not the actual provider of care. Your presence is enough to offer her comfort, joy and to feel your love. I love those little moments I share with my mom, it is so intimate. The bruise is from an IV site, I had a procedure last week requiring anesthesia. It looks worse than it is. SHelby

Teresa my favorite appliances are my mixer, freezer and food saver. They can be costly, but save a ton of money on the back end. Shelby. The have turkey at the store for 48 cents a pound this week, that is about as cheap of a meal that one can fix.. Glad you enjoyed the tour. Shelby

There have been times my freezer has gotten away from me, I just try and keep that darn inventory current and then meal plan from it. It really helps me to do it, I just have to keep it current or DISASTER. I haven't done any canning since we moved, but Ken is setting up a spot for me.....I can't wait to can beans!!!! And meats. Shelby i used to always eat eye round roast, then.... a revelation. If you can get yourself to a Costco, they sell for the ASKING... a sirloin tip roast. It's about 6 lbs. We cut it in half yielding 2 , 3 lb.. roasts. I cook one in the oven and it is so much better than eye of round. If you taste it, you will never go back to eye. Its as tender as a filet, and huge absolute huge beef flavor.

When we purchased our newest freezer the salesperson asked what we were storing , it was for neat and he said to make sure you don’t buy a Frost Free freezer as it Delicates the meat - it makes sense as it ducks the moisture from the meat . We purchased the biggest stand up that we could , we are a hunting family and a moose fills it up .

Thank you Sabeena, funny thing is, I didn't know how to cook when Ken and I got married and I also struggle with meal planning. I try and meal plan each week even if it is just sandwiches or soup....it makes things run smoothly. I still have a ton of organization to do in this new house, but baby steps. My goal this year is to get organizational systems for the rest of the house done....not sure I will, but just heading in that direction. :D Shelby

I have to be honest I struggle with meal planning so that is why I try and do it each week. I know you will LOVE LOVE LOVE the acrylic drawer dividers, they are one of my absolute favorite organizational products. It allows you to create spaces for your individual needs. I saw the product being installed at a pharmacy and thought oh I want to try that. Shelby

I have to keep an inventory, especially after we started purchasing the grass fed cow. When I let the freezer inventory list slide, my freezer doesn't take long to become a disaster area. It helps a lot in meal planning too. She has a lot of great downloads on her site. SHelby

when you marinade the chicken do you purchase the chicken fresh and then marinade and freeze or how do you do it ? =)
When i find a good sale on chicken I plan a freezer prep, I break it down into two days. The first day I make the marinades, and on the second day I cut the chicken breasts into cutlets and then pour on some of the marinade and freeze in food saver bags. I try and do about four chicken packages of each kind of marinade to make it worth my time. I need to do another freezer prep day here soon, so I'll video it for you. Then I just pull a package from the freezer in the morning and grill it that evening. Shelby
You do such a great job organizing, Shelby. I only have one extra freezer and it is not very big but you know I still forget what I have and buy more when I really do not need it. I am going to make an inventory and that will help me I'm sure. I like to stock up too when I can find a place for it, but I fit it in somewhere. Lol My husband sometimes thinks I go overboard but that is how I like to do it. This was an awesome video and I thank you for sharing and inspiring me to get off my tush! Tressa keep your inventory sheet near when you meal plan, it helps me a lot. Some weeks there isn't any good protein sales and I feel thankful pulling from the freezer. I don't want to pay those high prices. Must find a sale on ground beef......hahahhaa SHelby

I agree those inventory lists are worth their weight in gold, I use them in meal planning right down to an old piece of bread to make breadcrumbs for the meatballs....hahahahhaha I try and keep ahead of the sale game, but I'm almost our of ground beef. Hopefully a sale will come our way. :D Shelby

thanks for sharing your freezer. I have two chest freezers and the bottom of the refrig in the kitchen. If I had room, i'd have two more chest freezers. LOL. we've been buying a 1/2 of a beef. It takes up one whole chest freezer. Our garden produces veggies and of course fall sales on freezer foods is hot. There just isn't enough room for what i should be putting away.
I'm with you Brenda, my favorite kitchen items are my mixer, freezer and food saver. I like to can beans, proteins and a few specialty items, but I prefer freezing. It is just so easy with the food saver bags. Shelby
I did an inventory of my freezers yesterday and I'm down to my last pound of butter!! I didn't see that coming and I really need to be better about marking things off my inventory list so I don't have things like this catching me by surprise! Can't wait to see how you cook your turkey breast in the crock pot, I have 2 in my freezer that need to be cooked!!

Kristy I use Noreen's Kitchens pizza dough recipe it is the same as my moms and she has a great video on it. I have a video on the technique of freezing the pizzas and how to cook them so the crust is crisp. It will save you a bundle. Shelby

Love your videos, I've always been intrigued about Hatch Chilis. I bought a bag of chopped and through it in the freezer not knowing what to use it for. How do you use yours. I've even wanted to go to Southern California when they have their pick up event.
Pam I use green chilies in everything ....chili, hot artichoke dip, enchiladas, refried beans, chili rellanos...basically anywhere you would use a roasted pablano. I want to go and stock up too, maybe this next season? Shelby

Can you please a video on how to defrost? I am new to freezing things I make and when I BBC go to use them, I am defrosting them in the fridge but it takes forever. Do you have any tips? Obviously you defrost things regularly.

So many great ideas on this video. I am vacuum sealing my nuts tomorrow. I do keep them in the freezer but I have 2 #10 cans of cashews and that takes up a lot of room. Are you going to do a video on your freezer pizza's? I made some but they were okay, think I need a little help on making them better. :) . I do inventory my freezer but not the one at the bottom of the fridge. That is where I keep nuts and fruits too. Thanks, freezers tomorrow! :)

I was just wondering about freezing meat and other things....I feel like every time I freeze things they end up getting freezer burn and just don’t taste good after a while. Things in there I never thought of freezing, such as butter and smoked salmon🤷🏻♀️ My question is regarding how you thaw out those large items such as hams etc? Have my freezer and pantry inventory list filed into my meal planning binder. Having my freezer and pantry organized has made replenishing a more simplified task. Nice job on your organisation. Pam you hit the nail on the head, having a pantry and freezer inventory is the key to saving big bucks. It takes awhile to build up a working pantry, I know it took me about a year. Once you get it stocked it is easier to maintain buying only sale items, this is the lesson I want my boys to learn. Do you have a generator if your power goes out?
Great question. We do have a generator but we also have a dual solar system going in. It is 25 KW, with Sonnen batteries and a propane generator. Sonnen batteries have load shifting (if you are in a tiered electric billing, this could save you a bundle), still allow the panels to operate in grid down situation and can be used with a generator to top off batteries and extend your generator fuel. Tesla batteries, the power wall, currently do not have these capabilities. NY allows dual systems so we can net meter as well as have battery/generator off grid. Shelby

I’m wondering if you do this stocking up in order to save money in the long run (buying on sale and whole animals) or do you do it just because you like having things available? If it’s a saving thing, do you think it really makes a difference with all the electricity spent on all the freezers? Just curious because I like the idea of having a nice stock and being able to get good deals but I’m afraid the bills would add up way too much!
That is a great question Diana. For us it makes sense to stock up when things are on sale, just one night of eating out for our family of ten.....even if we go to McDonalds would be 75-100 dollars. So having things on hand to cook lessens the chance of eating out. I love my freezers! We are also investing in solar, so we won't have an electric bill, we will actually generate income from the extra energy we produce. We have been approved for a net metering contract with our provider. Shelby

Do you have generators if your power goes out? In Puerto Rico we had two hurricanes and didn't have electricity for 4 months.
I told my Congressman it is a tragedy what was happening in Pueto Rico, and that the Core of Engineers should have been dispatched to help restore basic needs immediately. I am so disappointed in the our response to the needs there. Shameless. But to answer your question, we are installing solar with batteries and generator back up, should be complete this month. Kat I use Noreen's Kitchen Pizza Dough recipe, it is the same as my mom's. Here is the video showing how to freeze and cook the pizza's so the crust is crispy. SHelby This one recipe has save us a bundle over the years!

When I was a child we were Mormons I learned how to stock! Now they know how to stock as they have large families as well!! They keep things like your basics flour sugar etc. My Aunt had them in the garage back then in large locking trash cans in double bagging!!! The company we wanted to go with had to many red flags at the bidding time..Also to not finance it was way over the budget I had given him that he said he could do for less...I think he padded the Cabinets He Wanted 8800.00 Just for those..That was with one drill the double trash can drawer!!! I though I’m not paying almost 10,000 on cabinets and get nothing I want!! No lazy Susan nothing!! No shelves inThe bottom cabinets I mean I’m just asking for plain well built cabinets no frills!! Nothing like what you have... Yours would be a dream kitchen LOL 😂
