  • This is a full review of the Hilleberg Kaitum 3 Tunnel Tent.
    The Kaitum is a 3 person, 4 season tunnel tent. It's available as 2, 3 and 4 person.
    There's also a GT model with an extended vestibule.
    Kerlon 1200 outer tent fabric and 9mm poles make for a very lightweight yet supremely stable tent.
    All season construction: outer tent walls extend to the ground and mesh areas are backed with adjustable fabric panels.
    Tunnel construction offers maximum space to weight ratio and is the ideal choice for mobile journeys. This tent offers comfort for two people, and is a tight squeeze for 3.
    The inner and outer tent are linked for simultaneous pitching.
    Tunnel design requires only four pegs for pitching, and the simple, single opening continouse sleeve and pole tensioner system is quick to pitch and remarkably stable.
    Dual entrances and vestibules ensure that one door can always be situated out of the wind and provide flexible entry/exit and storage options.
    The vestibule can be rolled away to provide extra ventilation.
    Minimum Weight 3kg
    Packed Weight 3.5 kg
    Outer tent fabric Kerlon 1200
    Poles (9 mm) 2 x 285, 1 x 328 cm
    Pegs: 18 V-Peg
    "Minimum Weight" refers to the outer and inner tents and the poles only. "Packed Weight" includes all items that come with the tent.

    Brilliant once again, the space in the inner is great also for spending more time in the tent in bad weather. Thank you.

    What a natural beauty and very nicely reviewed. I go out with my Unna, very happy with it, but when I want to take my girlfriend I´ll need a two person tent. This will be it, the Keron 2 (not the 3 nor the GT version). Thanks for your great video.

      Thanks again Kayasper. Yeah the Kaitum is great for two indeed, surely my GF's favourite tent so far.

    Excellent review and appears to be of good build and quality,but I’m not a fan of the tunnel design and prefer entrance from the sides. You note some may not embrace the floor plan and I’m just confirming this. However, great review and continued success!

      Tunnel tents are great in certain conditions but may not be for everyone indeed.

      GT variant is ook een mooie optie.
      Hoop dat dit een beetje helpt. Kijk m’n Keron en Anjan reviews om een beetje een idee te krijgen. Success

    I know Hilleberg say it’s 185cm wide inside, but have you measured it? Hilleberg say their Keron 3 with the same central pole length, and the same 105cm height is only 160cm wide. One of them must be wrong.

    • @OutdoorPrep
      @OutdoorPrep  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      😅 I started this exact thread in the Hilleberg Owners group recently. You’re correct, one of them is wrong. Hilleberg still claims they’re not wrong though…

      @@OutdoorPrep hadn’t realised it was you who started that thread 😂 Would be worth measuring your tent though to compare with the ‘official’ measurement.

      Haha yeah I’ve measured it, roughly. Need to set it up outside properly to get a more definitive measuring. Will report back once I have them 😉

    Is there a mosquito mesh in ventilations?

    • @OutdoorPrep
      @OutdoorPrep  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, that’s in the Keron. See Keron4GT videos on my channel

    • @Ah01
      @Ah01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is some kind of a handicap, I'm considering Kaitum 3gt to Keron 3gt. Kaitum gets the edge in this comparison by having a 25cm wider inner tent. You get some, you give some. Still wish that Kaitum had the bug netting in ventilations as well.

      Pretty sure all red label tents do not have mesh in the vents as they are designed solely for the 4th season. Black label tents are different in this regard as they are designed to be a jack of all trades and usable in all seasons. That's why if you look at the nammatj it actually has mesh in the vents even though it's black label.

    Are you sure that was the 3 person model. Looked like there was only enough space for 2.

    • @OutdoorPrep
      @OutdoorPrep  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sure
      Yes it’s spec for 3 55cm sleeping pads… but that’s it… you can be reasonably comfortable with 3 people but I also used it solo.

      @neologian1783 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OutdoorPrep Ah okay....those must not be 55cm sleeping pads then as I did not see nearly enough room for a 3rd.
