Thanks for the video. Great story of you, your Dad and the love of music and stereo equipment. Glad there are still some music stores around selling equipment. I miss the record stores. I moved away from vinyl to CDs but buy almost everything online now. Keep up telling your stories. I like stories. Rock on!
Thanks for the support! Yes, for me music and the stories of my life go hand in hand. Yeah back in the day record shops were a place for teenagers to hangout. And yes, after having a full record collection that then I replaced with a full CD collection and did the same from VHS movies to DVDs I started to feel like a chump to keep re-buying my library on the latest format...I just dove in with both feet to CD quality streaming and now I spend that Vinyl, CD, turntable, turntable arm, cartridge etc... money on other parts of my signal path. Maybe that's why I have 3 amps in each listening room LOL
Nice review. I like your analogy and as you said “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. I would never classify the GTI as “beautiful” but anytime one passes me on the road I always check it out. I love the looks of the copper cerametallic woofers. Unmistakably Klipsch.
I discovered your channel because of my nostalgia that i have theese days for the "grand father " of this spekeers that i owned few yers ago, the Klipsch RP 800 F (those models were followed by their "son" RP 8000 F, an now is the time of the "nephew" RP 8000 F ii). Because of their size and boxiness, i sold them and bought Spendor A7 spekears instead, then i replaced the spendors by Fyne Audio 501 SP. Both Spndors & Fyne Audio were at last double the price. I am still missing the reproduction of strings and percutions from those klipches, far more realistic and crisp than both my Spendors and Fyne Audio. Fair to say thought that after some time, RP 800 F could led to some listening fatigue. They were fantastic speakers. LE: i drove all the 3 speakers with Yamaha AS1200 integrated amplifier, and i also looked for ZU DW6 as an option, but din not had any dealer in my country
I bought a pair just before Christmas. I am one of the few that actually like the dark walnut finish of the speakers. I keep the screens on the speakers but for those who keep them off, that ceramic brass pops. I can’t imagine getting the same look with light finished speakers. The speakers are very heavy and were a little of a hassle getting them out of the box by myself. It’s not just the weight but also being careful not to damage them. To be honest though, I was initially disappointed with the sound of the speakers. They sounded flat and not very dynamic. It took a few days of listening before the speakers opened up. I thought the break in period was just a myth but I actually experienced it. I added more RP line of speakers for surround and sub. These definitely improved the sound over my previous Bose system. The only drawback for the Klipsch vs the Bose is that I definitely have more dusting now. Lol
Good afternoon from Toronto ☕️🍩 I’m running the Klipsch 51RP (the powered “book shelf” ) and as you said once you get them set up ..they’re pretty decent☺️
nice vid.. I'll keep the performance as my livingroom isn't as modern and decor centered.. I have wall art/photography and leather furniture.. these speakers performance are of paramount importance to me over looks. I do wish they came in lighter colors with a more pleasing look. I agree not enough finish options from factory. Some day I may re-veneer them in real cherry or light oak and re-cloth the grills. For now I'm just going to enjoy the sound and thats what's most important. When I remodel I'll do the re-veneer...yeah I can do an awesome job on them just dont have the free time right now.
Unfortunately, they dont have this kind of sale price ( $500 USD each ) in Canada for these Klipsch even on Black Friday deals. Right now for Black Friday sale on Crutchfield Canada, its $ 676.69 USD, and i never see it lower than that :(
From what I cant tell before you mention how low they extend that rating is more like their f10 instead of f3 it seem to me like they designed the speaker to be super close to the wall which is probaly how they got that f3 raiting I can have the rp6000f ii like 7 inches away from the wall with no loss in sound quality sound stage and imaging with getting that boundary gain
Great video and I like your “hot hatch” price-to-performance analogy. Question for you: with Zu’s direct sales approach do you feel like the DW6’s are more premium (I.e., more speaker for the money) than the similarly price 8000F’s? As a KLH Model 3 owner I’m intrigued by Zu. Thank you again!!
Thanks for watching and for your comments. To answer your question, yes the Zu are a significantly more premium speaker than these Klipsch. IMHO the Zu compare favorably to the Klipsch Heritage line of speakers in both sound reproduction and in build quality. Even these "base" black satin DW6 have excellent build quality and finish and are furniture quality in my living room. Hope that helps. And remember Zu gives you a 60 day trial period so I'm a big fan of hearing in my home on my music.
What amp were you using with these? They are easy to drive but I found mine came alive with large amounts of power. The bass was more controlled and didn’t sound boomy.
I expect your son did not that that large metal wave guide Zu uses that resonates like crazy GR came up with a great solution to that by just replacing that hunk of metal with a silk dome tweeter
I've had my 8000f II's for ~4 months now. Granted, I run them with an Onkyo RZ70 which is tone neutral. The Klipsch out of the box were flat and a little muddy. I added both treble and bass to them and they sounded better but still too muddy for my taste. I ended up crossing them over at 50hz, my atmos at 180hz, my rear surround at 60hz and my center at 60hz. I have two subs so everything else goes to the subs. Let me tell you, that old rule of thumb of running everything at 80hz .... that's just muddy sounding. Breaking the speakers up, letting them shine on their own is the ticket! The 8000F II's (and the entire RP II series) are truly one of the best bangs for the buck a person can get. Aesthetically, yeah ... these are not attractive. I hate the orange so I keep the grills on and problem solved.
"audiophiles" are lying when they say these suck or are way too "bright" - just snobbery these are the best mid range speakers for the price for movies.
Probably correct. I think it's fine for each of us to find what sound is best for us and then just enjoy your own hifi happy place and don't worry about how it sounds to anyone else. It only needs to make you happy!
Your son prob didn't chose the zu since there are some that say it's missing proper crossover, it has some critics about the way its made, the crossover or something is weird. Also poor measurements from GR Research.

The RP8000F-II speakers are PHENOMENAL! CASE CLOSED!

I upgraded the caps on my RP5000F and it was like new speakers! More low end slam punch and dynamic range. GR Research also sells a kit I think.

@@Hunter-Gray-LUV-Music thank you and yes, the 60-day trial is a really great way to test drive them in your own room.
Thanks again!

Yeah it's a home theater speaker
that goes to the different ears for older and younger person, they prefer different sound

99% of speakers have poor measurements from GR...
In other words....his wife said no.
