    To me, a pressurized oil system means you actually have a place to tee off of to feed a small oil to a small turbo without having to run some sort of electric pump to feed it

    • @bradmaas6875
      @bradmaas6875 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      My first thought was turbo, second was oiling.

    • @stretchedbmx
      @stretchedbmx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@bradmaas6875 could also probably run some kind of oil cooler(depending on how much pressure it makes since pressure drop could be an issue) but turbo would run a restricter anyway so that should be fine

    The lower black cap that you called an oil drain is actually an oil filter. The GENERAC 459CC XT8000EFI ENGINE looks a lot like the new Predator 459. The replacement oil filter for the Generac is part# 10000027013.

    I'm thinking one of the biggest things that needs is an upgraded oil screen, it looks like it has one on the side cover that unscrews but it would be good to see one that will pickup small carbon deposits not just large debris that the standard screen catches. I've seen many golf cart engines with oil screens that had ruined bearings because the oil change interval was too high and the screen didn't catch the smaller deposits.

    Me personally, want to see an all out bolt on style build. Meaning no rod and flywheel. Just to see how much you can get from it before needing that expensive stage 2 kit. Turn it 5-5500k RPM, Carb, springs, header, possibly a shaved head? timing key etc etc. Basically all you could do before you gotta drop $500 on the stage 2 stuff.
    On another note, this beast still has less rated torque than the duro max 440 ~1.75. Maybe less of a big deal because RPM @ 2800 vs 3600 on duro. HP don't really matter to me so much as torque, proven by off road karts, torque is all that matters. But Duro is rated more HP there too by over 2. Redbeard you need a dyno at the house!! Give some legit before and after numbers. That dyno go power sports has can't cost that much can it?

    • @gmcinnis6304
      @gmcinnis6304 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      operative word... RATED (by mfg) @ xx HP @ xxxx RPM's. some pppl have been knkown to ... stretch the truth a little to make a sale. I KNOW, that is unconscionable!!!! and u are offended... but it is the truth.

    • @angryroostercreations5194
      @angryroostercreations5194 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      cast flywheel above governed speeds is taking a dangerous gamble. It might grenade or it might not. Losing the engine is one thing, but catching flywheel frag is a worst case scenario. It's not worth the risk. if you don't swap the rod and it lets go at 5k at least it will be contained.

    • @nikdipetta
      @nikdipetta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@angryroostercreations5194 People everywhere turn them to 6k no problems. The magnet is first to fling off and is actually well contained in the fan shroud. This is a myth that some how gained traction as being "oh so dangerous." When in reality, it is mildly threatening at best. I turn all my cast flywheels to 5500-6k and have yet to see a failure. Don't believe me? Plenty of old vehicles used cast iron flywheels and turned 6k rpm from factory. I assume then those were all on the ragged edge of exploding too? No built in safety factor?

    I'd like to see you force feed oil, into that hole, that you pointed out and said that pressurized oil is sent, from the oil pump, through it. I'd like to see the oil draining from whatever gets pressurized oil. Like the camshaft. I didn't see if it has hydraulic lifters, like a Kohler Command. Just curious, if it does. What do you think about the block thickness?

  • @rednecktractors10
    @rednecktractors10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Predator is definitely not the first ones to make a big block single pressure lubed engine. I have a generac 460cc single that is not only pressure lubed, but has a spin on oil filter as well, and it's from 2020

    The rod is splashed lubed, the main bearings for the crankshaft are pressure lubed. Basically 1990s tech. Teledyne did that with their military engines(I have a 4a032), the crankshaft main bearings are pressure lubed, the rod is splash lubed

  • @madmike8869

    Those engines are made by Loncin and the generac 8500efi generator has the same engine I'm about positive, so you could throw EFI on the predator 459cc basically plug and play accept for the o2 sensor set up, idk if it would be tunable tho that's the question 🤔 but for sure worth looking into

  • @randallbevington8466
    @randallbevington8466 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Earlier was mentioned about turbo oiling. I also am interested, as well oil cooling and filtering. As you do your build if you could at least comment on the feasibility if not actually filter the oil, I would be interested. Your comments on oil starvation given pickup location and the gyrations the engine will go through on a personal mobility device (kart, bike) would be cool . Thanks very much Red Beard for all you do!

    So I have a question if you mention it in your next video about this motor. Alot of people use predator engines for Mud motors on boats. I'm curious if you could talk about the charging systems in these motors as it's something pretty important to us for our lights amd so on. I just need to know if it's worth buying and possibly saving some money before I go and get a Kohler with a 10amp charging system.

    That pressurized oil system is a game changer. WHEN will the STAGE 3/4/5 billet parts be available? Especially billet Rod, Flywheel, 1:3 roller rockers, larger valves, valve seats, bronze valve guides,and MOST of all, will you please build a bracket and put that 30 amp 670 alternator on it and ALSO that A300 supercharger, with that game changing HD FWD/Reverse gear box you had in another video with the HD 80 torque converter pulley. If you can get these parts made and this build achieved, I'll buy two of them myself, for my own Trailmaster karts! I can't wait!!! PLEASE!!!

    Awesome. Been planning on buying a 420 to put in an old electric golf cart. This seems like a better buy for sure. What belt/clutch would work good with this and a gearbox for my application?

    Im running this same motor bone stock, im using it as a mud motor for my aluminum boat. I noticed that when running at high speeds i have a constant blue flame coming form the exhaust.. Does this mean its running rich ? How can i fix it? Thank you for your time.

    What size shaft is on here, I’m gonna buy one and put it in my spider box but I’m going to go with a clutch set up rather then torque converter cause I’m 13 and don’t have the money to buy the 190$ torque converter. I just need to know the diameter of the shaft so I can order a clutch for it

    You know what I would love to see done is put it in a little artic cat 120 I know that sounds lame but I really would like to see how my son has one and it's time to make it faster

    Hey Redbeard will the 459 Predator motor fit on the Motovox mini-bike

    I wonder how many psi the oil pump makes one and two that would make it way easier to install a turbo and or oil cooler adding even more to the longevity the only thing I don’t like about the hemi version is valve clearance because they’re at an angle but I guess you could fix that with a different piston but otherwise I totally agree with you Redbeard I just bought one myself and for that $50 savings bare minimum you could put a header carb upgrade or air filter upgrade one last thing kind of low compression Ratio in my opinion 8.8:1 but that would be pretty good for forced induction and as always great videos red beard personally my brother and I are going to build a mini truck go kart with a craftsman dump bed and craftsman hood then I’m going to fabricate a cab i’ve already got the frame built rear end suspension front end my hope is that we can do some mild off-roading even though for the time being it’s going to be two wheel drive but by the time I’m finished it will be four-wheel-drive
