I often watch sim racing. I hear/read chat. So I can't say anything about any product. In general. The whole idea of direct drive wheels is, in short, to provided direct feedback as to what's going on with the tire grip. Do you really need a high power wheel base to convey that feeling? Does R5 do that to a useful level?

The R5 does a great job, even more so after the latest firmware update. However, many experienced sim racers assert that higher power results in finer details from the wheel, even when the base is not set to 100% FFB. Ultimately, I believe it comes down to personal taste and preferences

Really great video, amazing driving too! That's what I call an instant sub. ^^ Would you say you miss strength in the force feedback? I'm actually thinking about getting the R5 or R9 and I'm a bit in doubt if I would ever need the stronger feedback from the R9.

Hi and thank you for subscribing. I own both the Fanatec GT DD Pro 8nm, the premium bundle, and the Moza R5. Definitely i miss the 3 nm from the Fanatec. Fanatec feels more real and more immersive than moza. If you can, i would definetely recommend getting the R9, instead of the R5. Don't get me wrong, R5 is amazing for thr price it sells right now, the only down side being the pedals, but you can upgrade them at anytime later, and the 3 nm. But i miss them coming from Fanatec.

@@JulianNDL Thanks for your reply man! Very interesting, especially the comparison to the 8nm DD. Guess I will save a bit more then an get the R9 then.
Best of luck with your channel, definitely see a lot of potential here! 😃👍

I have the R5 and for me its enough with one caveat. If you are goin to use the bigger 300mm plus wheels you will want the R9. I may eventually go to a stronger wheel. Currently though with the small wheel I'm more than happy.
I even managed to tweak my right elbow when I was holding the wheel with one hand and had my arm turned all the way to the left. I hit a car hard and it cranked to the left even more and I can still feel that in my elbow tendon. R5 elbow instead of Tennis elbow. I did have it at max force and my arm was in a vulnerable position. In this case I'm happy I didn't have more power than it did 😂.

@@JulianNDL I checked the force the R5 puts out with a digital food scale rated to 15lbs. Pressing the scale against the lower edge of the formula mode wheel there was 12lbs of force at a 5" radius (it went above and below 12lbs by a bit as I held it as stable as I could). This puts the Nm around 6.7Nm or so. That firmware update they did a while back seems to push it above the 5.5Nm rating which seems to be the case as the wheel felt quite a bit stronger afterwards and it also runs hotter. With my 140mm fan in place it doesn't heat up to the point of reducing force so I'm happy they pushed it even harder.

Hehehe. Everything i have i bought out of my pocket. I'm too small for someone to send me stuff. :))

For me it took 24h to receive it, but i bought it from a local website that had it on stock. You'll love the R5. I don't know if you also bought the loadcell kit for it, but if you didn't, i strongly suggest to also buy it.

@@JulianNDL Yeah im coming from a Fanatec CSL Elite. The belt driven wheel, which is pretty strong itself. But i already have the Moza CRP pedals. The pedals it comes with im giving to a friend. And i ordered from their site. I wont see this wheel for a month i bet.

@@JulianNDL sorry for the late reply. But yes i did and its decent. The feedback is definitely more detailed than my CSL Belt driven wheel, but the power is the same. Now there is an R12! geez. im already wanting to upgrade lol.

Was going to get the moza r5 but got the Logitech DD probably double the price but I get two years warranty plus the clicker is not so loud and load cell pedal plus true Force double the power I haven't tried gt7 yet that moza r5 is nice and small.

    • @JulianNDL
      @JulianNDL  ปีที่แล้ว

And how is the Logitech DD so far? Do you like it? How is it with 11 nm? Sometimes i feel that the 8nm of the Fanatec GT DD Pro is too much for me and i am a big guy. :)). Indeed the Moza R5 feels a sometimes week, i miss the 3 nm difference from the DD Pro.

@@JulianNDL don't worry about missing arm day, you're right moza r9 would be perfect, usually run 5to7nm. 11nm I can't even turn the wheel.

@@lickrish3930 Hehehe. Actually the R5 got a firmware update today and it improved by miles the force feedback. It feels somehow close to the Fanatec GT DD PRO now.

@@JulianNDL I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one that thinks its much stronger after the update. It also added the friction force that was missing in Dirt 4. That was driving me crazy as I had a T150 that had the tire friction force when the car is driving slow or sitting still. The R5 didn't have it at all until this last update.
I thought it felt much stronger, but of course questioned myself on that 😂😂

    • @JulianNDL

@@jimbonater Hehhe. I know the feeling. Before the update the difference between it and the Fanatec was imense (i was a bit disappointed, because i didn't think that 3 nm would make such a difference) , but after the update i can say it's right there with th 8nm of the Fanatec.
