    I agree with whatever you said except for the placement of gear dial and infotainment controller. I believe that's exactly where they should be. Reasons: 1- you are not continuously using the controler for infotainment system so every now and then a little bit of reach to change a setting won't hurt. 2- I have a MB glc and has a touchpad like lexus, it's located within your reach when resting your arm on the arm rest, and every few min or seconds maybe, you accidentally touch it and something changes in the system. So I believe it's much better when the controler is a little farther.

    This is a great review. Yes, the things you didn't like are minor. But I can see how they would be annoying! (Especially the shifter knob and the infotainment controls being switched.) This car is slowly moving up my list of cars that I plan on buying once they start coming in again.

      @PrimeAutotainment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah man that’s a harder decision for me than i think it should be lol. I think I would go Genesis - I feel like it’s a better value for the features, it felt roomier, it was quieter and more fun to drive plus it has a significantly more powerful engine option, although it doesn’t have the hybrid or plug in option like Lexus. I love the reliability history from Lexus, but only time will tell with this new NX…but the Genesis warranties put the icing on the cake

    • @muneebshaikh3483
      @muneebshaikh3483 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NEVEREVERMIND1 this is my main dilemma right now as well. Not sure whether to go for 2022 Lexus NX (350h/350 turbo) or GV70 2.5T Prestige. For someone like me size actually matters, generally speaking I prefer smaller cars and in this particular case NX is slightly smaller than the GV70 but with everything else it's hard to decide which vehicle to go for. Warranty is important and Genesis definitely wins that but I usually lease cars for 4 years and then return them so not too crazy over that aspect.

    • @naveenthemachine
      @naveenthemachine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PrimeAutotainment imo the gv70 wins hands down without having to think about it for a microsecond
      The nx is just a fancy rav4 with no differentiation platform wise. Too much cost cutting here with the nx. it’s not luxurious inside at all and the power trains are a huge letdown. The gv70 mops the floor of the nx in just about every way
      You have to be a Lexus conformist to think a fancy rav4 is better than a bespoke RWD based platform

    Nice review. I've had my 3.5 Sport Prestige for two months. Shopped the Germans, owned them and Jags in the past, the Genesis is a player. My dislikes are the stop/start, don't use it, and mileage, but I expected it with the 3.5 TT. Otherwise, in Sport Prestige trim, you get a lot. Comparable spec'd BMW/Audi/Mercedes are $5-10K more with shorter warranties. Love the design, fit and finish are excellent, I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Now they need dealerships, but the concierge service for three years is very nice.

    Have a 2019 G70 - the first car Genesis sold. Great car. Honestly couldn't care less about wireless Carplay. Connecting the wire takes 1/2 a second and then the phone is charging and there are no hiccups. Thinking about switching to GV70 later this year.

      @jazzfan7491 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I totally misspoke... of course there was a Genesis G80 and G90 before the G70. I think what I was thinking was: the G70 was the first car that indicated Hyundai had full confidence to launch the Genesis brand separately (with the G70 Hyundai started requiring dealers, kinda sorta, to have separate facilities for the Genesis "brand", a transformation that has had its bumpy moments and is still going on, as I understand it).

    Nice review, but I will have to disagree with the Auto/Stop start. I have a GV70 Advanced Trim and I think it is very smooth, I barely even noticed. I use to drive a Mercedes and that one was a lot more obvious and jerky. I didn't get mine until December, I am wondering if earlier production ones are more jerky, instead of later ones.

    • @mavfan1

      I got mine in late September and the stop/start is very smooth for me as well. I never have had it shudder on restart. My first experience with stop/start was with a BMW which was horrible. It sometimes wouldn’t start at all and I had to turn off the car completely and restart it while at a light that had just turned green. But fun when people are waiting behind you.

      He must have auto-hold on as well. I've noticed there is a slight judder if you have auto hold on as you have to tap the gas pedal to turn the car back on and move. With auto-hold off, releasing the brake starts the car and you are starting off from a slow idle before applying the gas so no jerking.

      There's a reason to their madness. The bigger screen has factory navigation. Android/Apple wanted to use their navigation instead and ditch Hyundai navigation. Hyundai said hell to the naw! They want to keep their navigation. And what people don't know is that the Korean brands controlled their own technology. They don't use a 3rd party to build their infotainment technology. That's why most cars that have wireless Auto/Carplay now, don't have factory navigation. Which I prefer to have in case I lose signal on my phone driving in a rural area. That is why Hyundai have wireless Carplay/Auto on their smaller 8 inch screen because it don't comes with factory navigation. Hopefully, they will come to an agreement to include the wireless feature across the board. My friend just bought a new Sonata with the 8 inch screen. He was shocked that he has wireless Carplay/Auto. He jokingly said that he's glad that he have some luxury features in a poverty spec! Lol.

      I’m not aware of any vehicle in which one can disable the engine auto shut-off feature. However, after driving a Mercedes with this “feature” for going on six years I don’t have any issue with it. Every time I start the engine, I now automatically, as in totally subconsciously, turn off this feature right at the get-go. It’s become so automatic, I honestly don’t even realize I do it!
      I’ve even tried to bribe Mercedes technicians to disable this feature, but to no success. I believe it’s done in order to get more favorable mileage efficiency results, although in the real world I can’t see it making any significant change in your mileage - unless that is, if you spend most of your commute literally stuck in stop and go traffic. The real down side to this feature is the additional wear and tear on the engine from the repeated stopping and starting.

    Genesis is meant to be a luxury brand. And with most, if not all luxury brands, you do have to upgrade to a higher model to get certain things. And a wireless charging pad doesn't mean it's going to have wireless CarPlay.

    I’d have to agree with the placement of the shifter and the toggle for the infotainment system. I’ve accidentally pressed the parking button because I thought I was on the toggle knob. I have the 2022 GV80 with the Prestige Signature package. Great vehicle…I don’t mind the non-wireless Apple CarPlay option. I actually like using the genesis navigation option because I can see the directions in my HUD, I couldn’t see the directions from my phone into HUD. If someone knows how to fix that, hit me up! I’ve only had the GV80 for a week. LOL. I did think it was weird the GV70 didn’t have those basic options that the 3.5T has, so I agree. In my GV80, with the ACC on, I BARELY feel it shut off and on, and there’s definitely not a jerk. That’s weird your tester did that. Overall, I LOVE my GV80. Wouldn’t pick a different vehicle….

    I'm confused about the three zone climate control on the 2.5T ? Recently bought this car and on the climate control panel there is a button that says rear. when you press it there are options for controlling the rear climate control. Since I drive this with no one back there I have not confirmed the controls since the test drive.

    If you want to protect your engine you need to turn off the auto engine stop/start every time you start the car. I think virtually every car defaults to that feature so just like putting on your seat belt you need to hit the off button. I think head up display is way overrated.

    Have you ever turned the wrong rotary and changed gears while driving (when you meant to alter the infotainment screen), or is there a safety mechanism in place to prevent that?

    • @SEJ3333
      @SEJ3333 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had mine since September 2021 and while at first I was concerned about this happening, it just doesn't. Even if you do mistakenly turn the wrong dial the resistance of the dials is different so you know it immediately. The gear dial takes more effort and won't budge when you would turn it with the lighter effort you'd use for the other dial. This vehicle really has no downsides though some try really hard to find some. Love my GV70!

      I've got a 2022 GV70 and yes. This totally happens until you get used to it. For the first 2 months, I'd drive to zoom in on my navigation screen and wound up in neutral! 😬 Not a good look, but you learn what NOT to do relatively quickly.

    As a car reviewer, you should know why some models have wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and others do not. It has to do with the availability of onboard nav system. Hyundai/Kia wants their nav system to be the default system which Apple and Google do not agree to, hence the unavailability of wireless connection. It’s nothing to do with the technology.

You cannot argue with these genisis cars they're fantastic overall they're showing other brands that it's not about buying a name it's about buying a product.

    My biggest beef; how noisy this car is, particularly on acceleration; way more than you seem to imply here. Irony here is, your insistence on how quiet it is! Second issue: controls layout. As you mention, the touch screen up on the dash is just too far for comfort. Also, I really dislike the rotary-type gear shift selector. The stick on the steering column, as in the Mercedes and Tesla, is the most convenient and accurate type, and it also leaves more room on the central console for other controls.
