Such a beautiful and striking design. Genesis has really taken strides with their design language in my opinion. Definitely looking forward to owning a Genesis of my own. The only thing I wish they included in the exterior are fog lights.

Love the styling, the power and the cost so much I bought the fully loaded 2.5T Prestige (in Canada). The 300 HP in the 2.5T is more than enough as I live in the city but when you hit the highway and put your foot down, it takes off. I've had it for a little over a week and we absolutely love it. And in Canada we actually get 5 years of concierge service including maintenance. Everyone who has seen it so far says "WOW" which wouldn't happen with an X3, they are totally invisible.

It's no real surprise that Genesis is aiming at the Germans, given that they have rather brazenly raided the likes of Audi and BMW for engineering and design talent. Combine that with Hyundai's laser focus on setting goals and achieving them and you have a very fast moving, but highly competent competitor in the luxury segment.

Yes, this is a nice looking vehicle but there is nothing revolutionary here. You talk about "inspiration.." from BMW, Mercedes, volvo etc., etc. When Lexus introduced the RX there was nothing out there like it. They started from scratch, so to speak. Here, Hyundai has had the luxury of using the platform of work that has already been done. From the beginnng, they have been a company that is known to 'copy' others in their design language. You compare reliability to Lexus but thats faulty reasoning because while Lexus/Toyota has built a reputation and has years of data, this is a new product that has not stood the test of time. Hyundai, (Genesis) has had time to employ technology and design and be "inspired" by what already exist. That's the easy part.
Additionally, the dealership experience is a part of the overall package that comes with purchasing a luxury car. If you are going to say Hyunda(Genesis) is rising fast and etc etc., then it should be the OVERALL aspect of the brand not a spotty proposition. I don't need to have a reduced option for service and dealership experience when puchasing a luxury vehicle especially over $50,000.
Also, I like your reviews but please be more consistent with your seating score. Saying "For me at least these are the most comfortable seats in the segment", when normally you would ding cars for having only a 2-way memory setting and not having the same range of motion in the passenger seat is not analogous to say "for you at least. Nowhere here did you even mention ventilated seats! At the least, they are ALL comfortable for you or, they are not. Or, you apply the score across the board without putting yourself in the mix because thats subjective.

Alex: May I suggest an extra measurement in your reviews, as follows:
First though, some background for the suggested measurement. Not every senior buyer will be limber enough to climb up to a higher level seat cushion. Nearly all SUV’s have a commanding outward view because buyers enjoy this important. However, most elders are sore and find getting upward more difficult. Thus a large segment of those seniors who still drive will strongly consider buyer a sedan, rather than a SUV, or a minivan….it is vastly easier to enter and exit.
Suggestion: please add a measurement for the front seat elevation measured from the seat cushion height to the ground. Including that parameter would give a reference point from a current vehicle seat height contrasted to the new vehicle seat height. This might eliminate future disappointments, or remorse, after the glow of newness off--and real life sets in.
Also might include a reliability factor, as reported by a consumer advocacy group. And/or the JD Power numbers.
Thank you for your in-depth research and vehicle reporting. Wonder if anyone has thought about adding a five year factor of ownership to see how well the index of longevity rates compared to when it was new (assuming that model vehicle was available five years earlier).
    All for now,

Alex, I'd like to add something to your comments about Genesis customer service. Although your review focuses on the GV70 your comments about Genesis overall support make my comments relevant to anyone looking to purchase a Genesis product. First let me say that until two days ago I had a 2021 G80 Prestige 2.5T and put nearly 10k miles on it. This was my 3d G80 and the first of the new design. The new G 80 looks great but is a giant step backwards in terms of build quality. In an attempt to lighten up the car they have gone to a 4 cylinder engine and lots of cheap plastic parts. The car feels more like a AWD Sonata than it does my prior G80. Build is disappointing as many interior recycled plastic parts don't fit together well, and go snap crackle and pop like a bowl of rice krispies. The 2.5T engine is powerful but shakes and shudders like a tractor, gets worse gas mileage then my prior 3.8L G80 and required premium fuel to run at it's best. Ignoring recent gas price hikes, this G80 was costing me 15% more in fuel then the prior 3.8. The automatic emergency braking system just plain unsafe. The lane control feature is erratic and overreacts making the car feel unsafe to drive when it is engaged. The worst part is that the factory support team is unable to properly support the vehicle due to the weakness of the dealer service teams. Escalating to the manufacturer level the factory team has refused to fix issues claiming everything is "normal". REALLY!!!! I believe that they are doing this as a way to work around the lemon law in my state. What is the value of a long warrantee if the Manufacturer refuses to perform? The entire Genesis support team is clueless about how to treat a loyal previous customer let alone ANY premium car customer. The Genesis mission statement is to exceed expectations, which they fail to do. My expectations were set by my prior G80 not a BMW, or Mercedes. I warn anyone considering purchasing a Genesis product that if it can happen to me as a 3d time loyal Genesis customer it can happen to you since in spite of their words the Genesis team does not value the individual customer.

    • @naveenthemachine

@@naveenthemachine I'm sure mine was a lemon also, however the point of my post was that Hyundai wasn't there for me to back up it's product and gave me a run around, dodged the lemon law and did other unconscionable things. Yes, any manufacturer can produce an individual bad machine, it's how they back it up that's the key. My neighbor got a rare RX Lexus that was problematical and Lexus had them out of it into a new one within a month. Hyundai on the other hand took 5 months to finally step up to the fact that the car was bad and decide to do something about it, and when they did their offer was half baked, so it cost me a lot of money to own a bad car for six months and even more money to purchase a second car because none of my friends and family would ride with me in the G80 after hearing how someone was injured when the AEB system locked up the brakes on I95 and my passenger was injured by whiplash and had a rib cracked by the seat belts rapid tightening. The CSR rep handling the case couldn't give a damn that the car was dangerous. I can always make more money but the amount of my time that they waisted can never be made up for. If they don't start caring about the customer, and especially repeat customers like myself and deal with their customer complaints as an emergency, like RIGHT NOW the brand will die a slow painful death from all the customer complaints.

The red interior was great for 2022 but they changed the seats in 2023 to be all red instead of the previous charcoal with red stitching. Way too much red now. Big mistake.

I got the white paint with the Ultramarine Blue interior and it is gorgeous. And everything is blue, they didn't cheap out by giving it black carpet or headliner.

SUVs aren't my thing but if I were going to, one of the Genesis models would definitely be my first.

Those wheels SUCK big time. Does Genesis really think it looks upscale? Looks like something ordered from JC Whitney back in the 70s to go on a low rider Caddy🤮

Genesis isn't following Lexus' very successful playbook on selling cars in the US.
Lexus started with the LS, and a top-notch dealer network and customer service.
Genesis is starting off with the models, and no network, through Hyundai
The lack of investment in dealers does allow them to put more money into the vehicles, but customer service suffers, as you are basically just a pumped up Hyundai, and get Hyundai service. This has caused them to have less of an effect on the market than Lexus did in their first 6 years

The issue of dealer and customer experience in genesis is peanuts tbh
Because the best thing about owning a car is that you’ll be DRIVING it, not paying to see it sit in a dealer being fixed. Since Jaguar or Land Rover will sit in a dealer all the time being fixed, then dealer and customer experience becomes important. Not to mention that genesis has their concierge service so the fear of visiting the low rent Hyundai dealer goes away
But in the gv70 when you sit inside and get behind the wheel, the negative mentality that you bought this luxury car from a low rent Hyundai dealer will wash away. Because while Lexus has the best quality customer experience, genesis has the best quality vehicles period. And I think I know what I’d choose… the latter

@@naveenthemachine What would that be? It's not like you don't post it on virtually every Genesis video posted on the internet. And why didn't you tell Alex what you write virtually everywhere else, that Lexus is going out of business now thanks to Genesis, even though they sell 75% more cars? LOL.

@@Mr21scott Camry is different. First off stinger is being cancelled so that doesn’t help your case
The Camry still offers a v6 that’s unheard of in this segment
The Highlander outsells the telluride but for how long? It’s only a matter of time until it catches up. You know the demand is insane for the telluride more than the Highlander. Even before Covid and the chip shortage the Highlander was easier to get than a telluride
Now that said… I really hope the upcoming grand Highlander will make a very unexpected comeback on the telluride and dethrone it comparison wise. Not only sales wise
