Boy, do I miss bluegrass jams!
The joys of bluegrass
Thanks
This was fantastic !!! I miss living in East TN. You've gained another subscriber.
Fantastic music. Love from scotland UK
I’ve been going to Bluegrass Festivals since the 70’s and I always thought the best part was walking around to all the campsites and listening to people jamming . THIS IS AMERICA’S MUSIC !!
Here in Virginia, we have Bluegrass festivals east of Richmond annually. Went to one a few years back, it was a lot of fun. Sad Ralph Stanley open a table and chair about 10 feet away. But the best (besides seeing Ralph) was the talent show every night. In addition to the celebrities, they ask the audience for any guitar player, fiddle and so on. They agree on a number and away they go!
@@jerrytaylor4078 You mind sharing the name of some of these festivals? I'm a recent bluegrass convert from Virginia, and a lifelong musician. I don't even want to perform, just trying to see as much of this music as possible.
I used to go the Kentucky fried chicken bluegrass festival in Louisville, and your right, it’s a blast in the campgrounds .
Yes, it is. You have to go where they are hiding. They don't come out, ya have to go in amongst em.
SORRY bunky, this is not really americas music; it’s African, Scots and Irish al mixed together . Real AMerican music from this continent: Think drums, rattles , bells and flutes.
The banjo player is so good he makes it look easy. He looks like he's barely even moving his hands.
He plays amazing, a real cool cat.
He is really good , no joke
Dude is 🔥
...and he's getting amazing tone while doing so.
Yeah I would put him right there with Buck Trent Grandpa Jones and Roy Clark
We need more of this type of thing....notice how it puts a smile on everyone's face.....good time people 😊
Yea,, if this doesn’t get your feet moving it’s too late, you’re already dead.
That's the great thing about bluegrass, everyone is usually so happy.
Nothing better than seeing and hearing a topnotch bluegrass band playing a Scruggs classic. You have to be an excellent musician to play Bluegrass. No such thing as faking it whatsoever.
I thought exactly the same thing!!!
Yes, Catherine you are absolutly right. Azur is blue!
“…nobody cries when you cut up a banjo”…I would!😆
That reminds me of a joke (I forget where I heard it): What do you call perfect pitch? When you toss an accordion into a dumpster and it hits a banjo.
For the artists, a moment in time. For the audience, a moment of a lifetime.
For sure!
Nice jamming folks. Bring it to FL!
Best comment ever. This goes for all music!
This music always makes me feel like I'm in Manhattan, visiting art museums with my Gucci bag and a $15 latte. I hear that it's even starting to become popular in rural areas.
Lololol
Nice to see them giving the kid a chance. Future right there.
😊
He was pretty good; especially for his age!
What has more power to make you feel better than a bluegrass band? Nuttin’. Even if you were feeling good, you’ll still end up feeling better.
Notice how almost everyone listening has a smile on their face. 🙂
respect to the ppl just standing there no phone just enjoying it
Why I like bluegrass Ive no idea,Im from the middle of the UK and lived in Europe half my life.
When musicians of this caliber assemble for a jam the music will be nothing short of fantastic

Great performance -
I love the similarities between bluegrass and traditional Irish music. Great stuff.
@@phealy02 I'm afraid you'll need bigger bait, Petey old son.
We are mostly emigrants..Europa.
Same! bouzoukis are criminally underrated in american folk music :)
I’m having a tough time in my life at the moment and it would be easy just to sink into myself and play sad songs but I would rather listen to these guys, very uplifting.
Take it easy, bro...
same. That's why this music was made.
Rejoice in the Lord, and Foggy Mountain Breakdown.
Our people. Our music. A little bit of light shining through on this increasingly evil world.
Remember, whyte ppl don't have any culture... /s
Great comment. Feel good music this is.
You can’t listen to a banjo and not smile. Add in 3 mandolins, a guitar, and a stand-up bass and you can’t stand still. Earl would be proud.
I saw this a year or two ago and it is still awesome!!😅
I just saw the PBS special with Bela Fleck. I heard the name Sierra Hull and came to TH-cam. Am I glad I did!! By the way, I am a 67 year old head banger who loves bluegrass! The musicians are just so good.
Yep, humbling to this seasoned rock guy.
Absolutely agree 👍👍
No one's ever not smiling or tapping away at any bluegrass show. It's real uplifting.🤠🎯💪☝️😅love it
It's great that another generation is upholding this musical tradition.
Yep
i wish i was an american luv from the uk.
I've never been to a bluegrass festival, but would love to attend one. My late father played the mandolin with my cousins and after he passed, I inherited it. Still don't know how to play it, but want to learn.
リズム感がすきです。沖縄日本より愛をこめて
Hey it’s Laura Orshaw on fiddle! She used to be in my dads band, Lykens Valley Bluegrass Boys!
Miss Sierra did it again last night in East TN. WHAT A SHOW!!! IT WAS PERFECT. She finished her set, did an encore, then asked everyone to come close, and finished with an acoustic jam!!!
Those that know Bluegrass, know that's how it's done. Love the Po' boys too, saw them at this same stage earlier this year.
Music is alive and well in TN thanks to these young folk.
My but those Southern Country folk can PLAY
Now this is why we love Armorica.
This is what normal looks like. We need more of this in our country.
Great comment right there! People acting like normal people and being around each other! ❤️
If normal is a single culture, you don't know what normal is. There's only one group of people in that crowd. That's fine, and this is a great video, but it isn't "normal."
@@MrAndrewCreech had to be at least one comment. No more normal if it's not "inclusive." Whatever.
As an African American, I appreciate Bluegrass because it's utterly outside my experience. I love watching the woman in the background trying to "get down ".
this band needs to be on the Opry
They definitely do!
Yeeeehaaaaw. That's real bluegrass.
Thanks for uploading for those of us who couldn't be there!
This is America folks !
How wonderful: just some guys & gals enjoying themselves, and letting a young man enter into their fun.
Bluegrass is like blues...everyone takes turns soloing.
White Man's Blues (and Gospel).
What I have always enjoyed the most in attending Bluegrass Festivals are the impromptu jam secessions that take place in the parking lot or the camping areas after the main stage acts
are finished. One year at Strawberry in California, Seldom Scene was one of the headliners. Walking through the camping area I stopped to listen to a couple guys sitting around a campfire jamming with the members of Seldom Scene. I am sure that is a memory those pickers will never forget.
Shout out to Sierra Hull , Molly Tuttle , A.J. , Sarah Jarosz, Billy Strings, Michael Cleveland and all the young , magnificent musicians helping to keep Bluegrass and Americana music alive !!
Amen brother
Brilliant, nothing better than watching a bunch of talented musicians jamming and having fun....love this music
I could make the violinist happy.
I'm an old hippie Freak, I love my rock and roll, But if you don't like that you don't like music, I've dig it.😊😊😊
I completely agree! I like some rock but bluegrass will always be my favorite.
I'm living in Provence (France) ; it's raining but your video enjoy my afternoon. I like it !
Bluegrass is criminally underrated... awesome playing guys :)
💯💯💯
I call it Jazz for Country fans.
Thank you so much that was fun to watch!
Yeps
Wo Musik gespielt wird, da gibt es keinen Krieg !!!
People like this make this country great. Oh how I wish things never changed
I get chills when these notes kick in whether I am listening to the Flatt & Scruggs original or this fantastic version by these talented musicians. Thanks for keeping it real!
Exactly what I feel!
This is America unfiltered unadulterated this is great amen! Good people hard-working God-fearing good people!
Little dudes first solo. Tongue hanging out ripping it up three feet from legends… That’s what dreams are made of.
💯
Jereme Brown's banjo technique is masterful here. His timing is tight, his intonation is on the money, his Scruggs-style right-hand placement is exact, and he has his chromatic alternatives in place for his second lead. I see lots of banjo pickers of whom these things cannot be said. And I say these things as an ex-banjo picker going back to 1974. (Ex, because arthritis will not let me play anymore.) Fine job sir. I am jealous.
Even if you can't play, you can never stop enjoying it. Great comments. 🪕
Reminds me of the bluegrass festivals we went to when I was a kid, the main stage was good, but the BEST music was always out in the camping area. Foggy Mountain is a bluegrass standard, and I love the younger players getting involved. What makes this performance particularly impressive, is the fact that the tempo steadily increases all the way through the song.
No kidding! I remember the festivals where the camp was better than the stage. The Coffee Gap Cork Likkers went all night. Then early next morning Sam Bush joins in! Epic!!!
We love the festivals. Went around and jammed with the Smokin Dobroleles and Full Cord Bluegrass this summer late night at Forest Trails. What a gas!!!
I also remember…I sure miss those days!
@@loriwise3177 how to define a hard core bluegrass fan. He drives 600 miles to the festival. pays usd 200 to get in. he never sees a show, but spends the whole time jamming with his friends, with whom he jams every friday in hin home town!!
That's why I go. Pick all night.
Wow, that was real virtuoso stuff. Thank you for posting that! Very nice atmosphere.
MAN AND WIFE HOLDING THEIR CRUTCH IN B/G.
It was like the younger mandolin player ask the banjo player if he can have a turn. I love Jam sessions.
That is a joyful noise. They do the pickin', and we all do the grinnin'.
he really cut on that banjo and there were only smiles ; ) all around!!
Really enjoyed the solo from the younger mandolin player and the crowd really cheering him on afterwards. What a nice moment to cap off an already amazing performance.
everybody is relative of everybody there
@@OtaBengaBokongo nah that's a music festival and the musicians are in the crowd
@@OtaBengaBokongo now was that absolutely necessary?
@@tishtashtishtash I deeply regret the comment, I have low impulse control
Thank you! 😁
Everyone in that crowd had a smile on their face. How can you not.
Thinking the same thing. How can you listen and not smile?
A true wholesome American art form. They make me proud!
I dare anyone to listen to this and keep their feet still.
Wyatt was just a pup. Great job everyone
Memories 💜💝 I remember when Sierra was just a little 🌱 sprout. I knew she would be an excellent entertainer. 👍 We love you honey ❤️🍯
Smoking banjo, and I also like Sierra´s and Wyatt´s skills.
Funny to look back to when Sierra was the 12 year old prodigy. She sure did develop into a superb player.
This is one of those songs . No matter who plays it it never gets old ❤
its a well done sending greetings from the Gold Coast Australia i really enjoyed that
What's not to love about this??? Smile, smile, smile :)
Miss my dad every time I hear bluegrass. Every Wednesday just me and Dad would go to community center and listen to locals play. Highlight of my childhood. My special bond with Dad. Youngest of 5 so there wasn’t a lot of 1 on 1 time for any of us
Happy holidays to all of you and may your coming New Year be the best ever.
Sierra Hull we won't talk about that E major at the end , just because you were talking Lol .. Just playing , you're amazing and far beyond my Level !🤯🤩🤩🤩
I don’t know how many different people I’ve heard play this song and I always love it because most of the time when you have a group of musicians who will play this song they’ve got mad chops.
i didn't know Kennedy could play FIddle? good for her!
Now, that's some good stuff there.
Sure is! These folks are awesome.
Random TH-cam Awesomeness! Pickin' N Grinnin' at it's best!
"Nobody cries when you cut up a banjo".
Man with the hat smiles...and proceeds to take your boy to master class!
The whole thing kinda brought a tear to my eye lol.
So much better when the punch line is "People cry when you cut up an onion . . . "
Fun performance indeed.
Yes!
definitely one of the coolest happiest styles of traditional music in the world. love from Portugal
America is beautiful
Dont forget Cj hes one of this eras great mandolin players and his band The Poor Rambling boys is one of the best. They are all are high Caliber musicians!!!
This girl can play that mandolin like nobody’s business ❤❤❤Them Po boy’s are fire as well
I guess I’ve listened to this piece a million times in my life------and loved it every time.

That kid has got some soul in his mandolin playing!
I agree, he's doing fantastic. His name is Wyatt Ellis and he has TH-cam channel, if you didn't already know that.
😊
My God did he come a long way in a year.
Young Wyatt Ellis will grow to be a legend inshallah
The smile, makes me happy
The music I was raised on! Makes me miss my parents! Daddy played Dobro and mom played mandolin and guitar! When I was growing up didn’t appreciate it like I do now!! My uncle was an amazing banjo player! Wish I could go back in time! What a childhood
That's a great memory. Playing bluegrass with family is one of the greatest things in life.
Some of the greatest music in American history like it or not
That fiddler sure is purdy! Nice to see Laura I these circles.
some of the best picking you will hear at a bluegrass festival....in the parking lot....
Yeahhh, best wishes from Barcelona, Europe!
Nothing more beautiful or inspiring than talented people making music together!
Awesome. 56 and grew up in farm areas in Pa.. Went to tons of Bluegrass Fairs and Even some hoedowns where this jam ruled. Nice job with it.
That's awesome. I would love to go to some jams. I absolutely love playing and listening to bluegrass but I've never seen it live believe it or not.
Wow!!
Я хоть из Сибири но музыка поразила. Большому парню большой привет. !!!!!
@@fivestring4653 Добро пожаловать к нам на Байкал. Будем очень рады!!!

Hello, the joy, the banjos, the guitars, the laughter.....but...have you reread the tragic epic of.....Bonnie & Clide Barrow?
I have watched this video at least a hundred times !!
Me too😂
Working towards it! Close to perfection. The joy and skill of the musicians is phenomenal
Now that is what I call real down home music. Shake them boots!
I danced around my kitchen with my dog listening this beauty! THANKS! :)
Sierra hull is an angel
Nice to see you american folks, having fun. Greetings from Strasbourg, France
