    15:14 - regarding Banjo-Kazooie's "voice-splice dialogue": Grant Kirkhope was once a Guest Grump (when JonTron was still "Not-So-Grump"), where he explained that Mumbo Jumbo's voice clips came from the line "Come And Have a Go, If You Think You're Hard Enough"...after processing (chopping the line up and rearranging the pieces) you end up with the 'Eekum Bokum'-style that we know today...
    ...just a little side-fact supplement for anyone who wanted to know lol

    • @hotelmario510
      @hotelmario510 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think you're confused. The chants from Mayahem Temple are the words "Come and have a go, if you think you're hard enough", whereas Mumbo Jumbo's chants are just meaningless gibberish.
      However, the exclamation "Oominacka!" is reportedly based on something Grant exclaimed while a nurse was checking his testicles. ("Ooh, me knacker!")

    • @rtyuik7

      but he said the line, in Mumbo's voice, on the episode...only, he kinda "said it" weird, like 'um an av a go, if oo eenk err ar en uff'...im not talking about Chants, im talking about the noise it makes when his Textboxes come up...JonTron calls it "Eekum Bokum"...

    Nintendo really owes Rare for this era. Third party support was almost non-existent on the N64.

    • @subielife4life
      @subielife4life 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I agree, rare did so much for Nintendo back in the 90s, however I disagree on the 3rd party support comment, feel like n64 did have plenty of 3rd party support just not as much as PS1 and it made it feel worst when you mention that Square didnt support it at all, but still I feel like n64 had plenty of 3rd party support, especially when it came to 4player gaming, the n64 was the party machine! Where the PS1 was more for like lone wolf's....

      @referral madness according to Microsoft executives, they have absolutely nothing to do with the games Rare has made with them.
      It's all Rare.
      Microsoft only stepped in after Rare made one too many flops, and assigned them to Kinect Sports.

    • @sgillman16
      @sgillman16 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @referral madness and if you actually bothered to read anything, Nintendo did not treat Rare well at all. Nintendo was absolutely furious that Donkey Kong Country made Super Mario World look primitive, so they began to clash heads like children, mostly on Rare's end. They started purposely one upping everything Nintendo did, and changing things in games to piss them off. That's the real reason we got Conker's Bad Fur Day.
      That was the last straw though, and Rare's final business meeting with them after that consisted of Nintendo demanding Dinosaur Planet become Starfox, and telling Rare "We don't need to rely on you anymore".
      Nintendo was done with the BS, and refused to buy them.

    Stop 'n Swop is the dumbest thing because they could've VERY EASILY just retooled it to rely on a memory card instead of RAM. Total waste.

    • @goosebyte
      @goosebyte 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even with the drop in time, I accidentally discovered that ram functionality as a kid when I could turn off the n64 with Turok inserted, and back in within a few seconds and the game would usually keep going. I now know it's because they were going to use it before the timeout went from ~30s to ~5s, and never fully did away with it, but back then imagine getting your friends to believe that back in the year 2000!
      Really, they thought you couldn't manage to power off, swap the cart and power on within 5 seconds? I mean, worst case keep the silly feature but do a special save just before allowing the "swop", so if it did fail you'd put BK back in and kazooie would say something snarky to bottles about it not working right and offer to let you try again.
      Giving the console the direct ability to safely "unmount" the cart for swapping would have been even better. Hindsight is 20/20, but if they had found a way to programmatically unhook the pins all at once, with the memory areas for rom being made inaccessible until the new cart is plugged in, they could have made this work. In fact I'd bet they were thinking of that already if the RAM thing was an idea, and scrapped that too due to likely increasing manufacturing costs by a few bucks and "it would be so cooool!" probably wasn't enough justification for the cost increase...
