The foam cannons on Amazon that are roughly 10 bucks are far more efficient with soap and still give you that heavy snow like covering with cheap concentrate soap. I use it to clean my buggy.

The pressure washer will ONLY draw soap with the LOW PRESSURE soap Nozzle (Usually Black). Your spinning brush has too much pressure to draw from your soap source.

Yeah I've got a mi-T-M washer from Sherwin-Williams and I had to ruin one injector to figure it out. I use dawn & outdoor bleach to powerwash houses and walks. My mistake was not flushing the injector when I was done. There's a ball bearing and a tiny spring inside, that bleach disintegrated the spring. I found out when I was correcting my mistake that the do make high pressure injectors. Your oscillating tip must have been messed up or maybe your washer just doesn't have enough "juice" to make it work properly. The first time I used one on my car I blew the pinstripes off it. Probably best you didn't figure it out. Maybe you just needed to screw down your unloader valve. The "turbo" head is basically a spinning waterjet without the garnett. The other thing is that they should always be started pointed down so that little spinning 0tip inside doesn't slam into the outer shell and ruin it.

Option 4: Steve, I'd let Steve wash my rig anytime!
I start with a foam cannon, then do it by hand to follow. I'm not a fan of pressure washing my suspension because I don't want to force water into the bushings and such, so I either turn the pressure down or just use the garden hose to get the big stuff off before I foam it

The $15 foam cannon from Amazon on a 2500 psi washer with purple power boat cleaning soap does an excellent job. Works best when applied to dry surface. There's different turbo tips for certain PSI washers. I use the $20 black turbo tip Walmart brand. Warning turbo tips on the right washer can cut hoses, wires, and paint if the nozzle gets to close. Good luck

  • @snowrulesnate
    @snowrulesnate 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The key to less hands on washing is prepping the surface BEFORE you get it dirty. I’ve tried several products but SC1 is the best by far! The silicone in that stuff causes all dirt to release under regular hose pressure and using the power washer under the fenders to get the tougher stuff. You still have to use some friction in fenders and suspension but not much. No replacing manual labor there...lol.

Hey guys, just my two cents here. Firstly great job on the comparison testing. Here are my opinions on all of it. 1. Pressure washers are fantastic used with knowledge but used incorrectly with the wrong tip they do more long term damage than good. Specifically water and debris get forced into places and cause rust and a myriad of electrical issues. 2. Rotating power brushes are a fantastic idea but they always fail. 3. Foam blasters are very satisfying to look at, makes you think it's really doing something. Must be! Look at all that foam! Meh..4. Turbo nozzles used on anything other than for aggressive stripping are a serious no no. Even though it is a royal PITA there is nothing that replaces intricate well thought out hand detail work. This is all coming to you from a 30 plus year mechanic and power sports enthusiast. Anyway, keep up the good work and sillynous! Love watching you guys and all of your informative shenanigans!

I've bought an old Hotsy 550ss heated pressure washer for $300. Mine is only 1500psi electric but I crank the diesel fuel fired heater to 200F and it works fanfreakintastic. I actually turn the pressure down to around 900psi and just let the heat do it thing. Mud, grease, bugs, etc peel right off. Being an electric driven pump it's very quiet and as long as you remember drain the water from the heater coil in the winter very durable also. I have a 100' hose and roll the unit just outside my shop (to vent the diesel exhaust) and can reach both of my SxS's while they're still on the trailer. I was talked into it by a friend and doubted I'd like it, now I wouldn't be without it. Landa is another quality heated pressure washer.

You have to hand wash even after using the foam cannon. Period. I don’t know who told you not to hand wash but that’s crazy.
Also, get you a real foam cannon. That one you have is too small. I mix 20% soap and 80% hot water. It will usually do my x3 twice before emptying. But you have to have the flow turned all the way down (at least on my cannon) turning the flow both conserves the quantity of the foam and gives you a nice thick foam.
Hot water is the key to a clean machine

The rotating nozzle it's meant for concrete and hard surfaces it can and will peel of paint if you put it close to the paint...
As for the foam cannon get a better one bigger capacity and use chemical guys foam soap diluted with warm water..
And the rotating brush you just know that any brush that touches your paint will destroy it over time specially at that speed so it's a big no no...

No matter what type of soap you use (make sure it’s a high foam formula though) put 1-2 maybe even 3 oz. of soap in the foam cannon then fill it with water the rest of the way. I use regular ole pressure washer with 25* nozzle to knock most of the dirt off. Then come back with a foam cannon, while the soap is on grab a mit, run over the machine real quick, rinse off, foam again let sit for a few minutes then final rinse and dry with a towel. Depending on level of muddy, takes me about an hour or two to get it all done.

Great comparison of some of the different products available. Without these tests, there is no way of knowing what works best without breaking the bank.
I work in the livestock industry and have used many different washer attachments and soaps. A common misconception is pressure vs volume of water. A pressure washer that produces over 5 gpm @ 2000 psi will easily outperform one that produces 2 gpm @ 3500 psi. If anyone is in the market to buy a new pressure washer, look for a combination of pressure and volume. The same can be said for the attachments. The turbo nozzle or dirt blaster you purchased was likely rated for higher gpm, which is why it didn't perform very well. The ones we have are never used to wash a vehicle unless you want to peel the paint or be left with awesome swirl marks. And be prepared for a workout.......you wouldn't believe the amount of push they have.
As always, keep posting these informative videos. We all appreciate what you're doing.

I use a 50/50 Simple Green and water dilution in my foam cannon, washing all the big mud off beforehand. I'll scrub a little on the tough spots with a soft car wash brush, and maybe gently on the harnesses if they are dirty. Then, I rinse well with pressure washer. To get a spot free finish, I'll use my leaf blower to get all the big water off, and may run a clean towel or rag over the cage and exterior plastics.
Some guys on the FB groups say they use Tide laundry soap, or a mix of Tide and Simple Green in their foam cannons. Not sure if this increases suds or is supposed to cut grime. However, I do know that the Tide that you buy today doesn't suds up like the Tide when we were kids...

  • @hsvkidusa

Just some things to note from my experience.
The turbo brush probably works best on a "soap" or "rinse" low pressure setting. I'm sure the cleated ring didn't like you two fingering the trigger
The zep may have been a pressure washing soap. Carwash soaps have a lot more sulfates which cause a lot more foam. Pressure wash (and carpet shampooers) soap are designed to not foam too much.
The turbo nozzle is a great piece to have as it takes the strongest tip attachment (needle/0 degree setting) and spins it around giving you a much higher pressure wash efficiency. Keep in mind this was the only product you used WITHOUT any soap

Doesn't appear that you guys read the instructions on the foam cannon. Typically, you add a small amount of soap in the reservoir, then fill to the top with water. (That small bottle of cleaner should have lasted for several washings.) In my foam cannon, I use Meguires Wash + Wax car wash from Walmart (about 10% soap to 90% water in the reservoir). The wax puts a nice sheen on the black plastics of the SxS, and makes everything look like new.

Turbo nozzles will destroy seals and stickers if u get close. Rule of thumb with pressure washer if it hurts your hand at a certain distance it can hurt your machine. I use foam blaster a few times let it sit and foam again and again never let it dry then mit and rinse my favorite way. Love the channel pretty entertaining especially when my sxs's are stored away for winter.

Great video though! I haven't read any of the comments below yet, but I'd bet $$$ that the bulk of them would have given the win to the cannon before viewing. I love mine (but I don't use my Crown Vic for off-roading either. 😁)

I snow foam my cars every week even in winter and it keeps them looking great. You need to use good quality snow foam liquid for it to really work. Especially on salty road gunk. You can also use dish washing fluid you'd use in the kitchen if you want a great cleaner but cheap. Here in Scotland its Fairy liquid, the USA is it Dawn Dish soap? I duno. the cheap dish cleaner stuff.
To be honest there are much better snow cannons out there than the ryobi one. Autobrite's HD lance is the best one out there by far.

Not a great idea to regularly use a dish soap for cleaning cars and plastics. The soap is designed to cut oil and will dry out plastics and weaken a clear coat. Best to use car soaps for regular washing and then for the heavy stuff, use something like Purple Power or any strong degreaser. Car soap is PH balanced, so it’s not going to cut heavy stuff, but it will not harm your plastics and painted surfaces. It also will not strip wax or sealers, so they last longer with car soap.
I hope this info is useful

@@Todd66 Ive never had any issues in 10+ years with plastics and regular snow foaming with dish soap, but yes dish soap will take off wax. Probably not a big issue with an off road machine.

    • @Todd66
      @Todd66 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

apmaman123 that’s great you have had zero issues. I still would never advise using dish soap on a regular basis. I kinda agree with you on the Offroad machines, but really there are too many quality, inexpensive car soaps to justify using dish soap on a regular basis.

apmaman123 snow foaming is kind of addicting for me. I don’t really see the need, but do not plan to stop. Lol I just did the snow foam cannon mod, but it’s been raining so I have not had the chance to try it out. Supposedly it will thicken up the foam. I bought the cheap Amazon foam cannon, so I need all the additional thickness I can get. I’ve only tried two brands of Snow Foam, both have worked very well, but I plan to try more soon. I might try to get some of your Magifoam and try it. Have a good one!

Chemical Guys Mr Pink works great in a cannon. Bleach White from dollar general works awesome on tires. Grease Lightening works really good on mud. We use baby oil on dirt race cars on the inside panels and wash with greased lighting the next day. Hardly no work washing. Baby oil is really good in areas where you can’t easily get to. Dirt just falls off.

Here's what I use and it works pretty well:
    1. Soak with pressure washer and a normal fan tip (whichever degree you want) to knock the big stuff off of it.
    2. Use foam cannon with a soap that's formulated to foam using a foam cannon (that's important). Get your air/solution mix correct on the foam cannon and it will be like it's snowing foam and take 2-3 minutes to coat the entire SxS. I use Chemical Guys Tough Mudder soap.
    3. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
    4. Pressure washer with a turbo nozzle.
    5. Clean windshield water spots with glass cleaner and a shop towel or microfiber towel.
    6. Done if I'm not detailing and know it's getting dirty again soon.
    OPTIONAL IF DETAILING
    7. (If detailing) hit it again with another round of Chemical Guys soap from the foam cannon.
    8. Soft bristled brush while it's still soapy to remove dirt/mud spots.
    9. Rinse clean with fan tip nozzle using the pressure washer.
    10. Tire foam EVERYTHING except the windshield. Literally everything you can hit with the tire foam (except windshield)....do it. Then don't touch it. Don't think about touching it or wiping it off. Let it sit until it's dry in grass or gravel because it will spot your concrete and you'll notice it when the concrete gets wet.

The downstream soap injector only works under low pressure. The rotary brush uses high pressure to spin the brush, so the siphon won't pull the soap. That's why the only tip you can use the soap injector with is the black soap tip. It's a low pressure tip

When you use the foam attachment start the foam from the bottom and go up. Yes it's the opposite of how your supposed to wash but the foam breaks down and pulls the dirt in it. Basically lifting the dirt. So by the time you make it to the top you can start rinsing it off along with the dirt. When it's all gone then go top to bottom with one last rinse.

It seems like the foam cannon would work at a lower psi, just enough to get it on there and soak. The high pressure puts more water in the mix and it just runs off. It seems like videos where they use a low pressure electric unit get good solid foam coverage that doesn’t run off. Then you could final rinse with the power washer?

  • @zfilmmaker
    @zfilmmaker 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I’ve learned some of these accessories are designed for low flow electric pressure washers. Your washer has to much pressure/flow. I have a big Dirt Killer that eats these things and cheap foam cannons for lunch. My electric on the other hand can run some of these. The turbo nozzle is not for cars or paint unless you want it removed. Foam cannons are absolutely THE way to go but you can’t use standard car soap, you need foaming specific soap like Chemical Guys citrus or melon soaps. The best cannon is by MTM, the least expensive is by Max Shine which works really well for $30.

  • @justinpfirman1710

Not sure about that brand of turbo nozzle but the one I got from lowes (Few years ago) is a BEAST ! It will rip anything off. Just looking at the stream of the one you have looks off. With that said I would NOT Use one for your side by sides. If it was a good quality one it would of pealed those decals right off your machines. It will also rip the seats and anything soft up. It is not really meant for vehicle care. They may say they are but you will do more damage than good. Again this is dependent on the quality of the Turbo nozzle. The one I have will bore holes through wood, (Standard Pressure washer not industrial)
After watching this though I will have to pick up a foam cannon, That thing looks pretty sweet !

It's not the worst trust me although I don't use it, I have. It's just tiny and almost all plastic so it won't end up lasting. Remember this was developed for average person to just get the job done not for daily or pro use. Finally there are better ones for cheaper that last longer.. But also some that are terrible and should come off the market.. This isn't one of those.. Please peiple don't use more than 1200psi on your paint or a turbo nozzle you'll end up regretting it.
