Step 1: Mix 3:1 water/Simple Green mix into garden sprayer Step 2: Coat machine with mixture thoroughly Step 3: Spray off with power washer VERY thoroughly!
Bro’s! I detail sxs’s for a side business I use chemical guys all the time. Next time, pour the soap in the cannon first. 6 oz for that 32 oz bottle, then fill with water. (Warm water if you can) it will give a much thicker foam than wha you had today. 2 bucket method for the wash mitt too. Chemical guys sells grated that you can put in the bottom of the bucket. It helps push the dirt down so it doesn’t stick to the wash mit.
Ya there soap is the only decent thing they have. For side by sides I use beadmaker, mckees37 hydro blue which is amazing. Keeps mud from sticking and last a few months.
I spray my krx down right before i hit the trail and by doing this i have found out it really helps on the mud sticking to it as bad you still going to get it but it helps a lot and on clean up it helps more then you real believe.......I think it does a very good job on helping on clean up and we get in nothing but mud were we ride at .
I use the tough mudder with a foam cannon from Walmart and it coats it like a snow storm. Might need to adjust the foam level if that one has a dial to do so. I think I'm gonna try both, the simple green mixture did wonders. Our bikes look like the Talon did after mudnats every ride so I think the simple green will break down the thick mud.
Really like this kind of stuff on this channel, variety is good. Leo that was a hell of a tip on the SC1 being solvent based. I've never really liked the stuff. When I picked my new Turbo S up at the dealer they had soaked the thing in it. I am going to get some of that Zep. Touchless as much as possible, foam cannon preferred. But if you have to use a bucket, use two. Especially on a car. One for loading soapy water onto the mitt or whatever, and another with frequently refreshed clean water, to clean the mitt in after making a pass with it. If you don't do this you risk dragging the dirt right back on to the paint. The simple green deal is another great tip. As a former dirt track racer we used to put ATF in a bug sprayer and hose down the inner fenderwells with ATF, after packing the track the muck would dang near fall off the car. I think they actually make a product dedicated for that purpose now, might be worth looking in to if you are just going through a lot of mud, not submerging in it down in Florida, LOL
@@MrSuperchargeron It really attracts dust. Big time. And the solvent base helps black plastics fade. That was my experience on my old XP1K.it was the 2 seat black pearl deal and the non painted plastics fade very quickly...Leo's statement about solvent base causing that makes sense.
I'm also weary of the SC1 after Leo's remarks. Thinking maybe just spray some on a microfiber and just use it for the shiny plastics. Definitely going to try the Zep.
Water is a solvent. It never fails to amaze me how the most fundamental things are unknown to people now days. The major characteristic of a solvent is that stuff dissolves in it.
Well, dihydrogen monoxide does dissolve water soluble things. (sugar, salt..) BUT, a "solvent" has no pH in it. Eg, no water. (oil and water and the like). However, what we are shooting for is an emulsifier. Sumpin' to make that oily soil float in water, not on water. My favorite emulsification I enjoy really cold...with cookies to dip into it.
I use foam cannon with straight zep truck and trailer wash in it. Foam the sxs real good no pre rinse. Let it sit until just when it’s starting to dry then pressure rinse off. Works pretty good. Maybe I will compare it to the sg method this summer
The parts man cometh, glad to see Rick. I actually use Simple Green on my Wolverine and it totally works. I love that machine but idk if I'll own another white SXS again.
Purple power is my go to. We did 140 mile fall ride. Rinse spray down with purple power and rinse again. Then grease and lube as needed ready for next ride!
Lemon pledge, or for the discrete discerning gentleman Orange Pledge, after its dry, wipe the black down with that and it will look brand spanking new and it doesnt leave a oily residue behind.
Huge factor is also what was used on the plastic before they got dirty. I use a car spray wax and then when I was mud off of plastic there's no scrubbing and apply wax here and there ever 5 washes. I use meguiars hybrid ceramic wax while the side-by-side is still wet and pressure wash it around to spread then dry. Works great. Minimum labor plus water beads off and mid doesn't stick as well. Shelf product at Auto parts store. Great one to use when dry is CMX as well. Knocks the wash time down with minimal labor
Good idea but the very best stuff for cleaning anything really is traffic film remover, you can buy it by the gallon or in big drums. Works extremely well to get the mud off and get rid of all the dirty marks normally left afterwards. Would really recommend it.
All I’ve ever used was Simple Green......full strength, wash it off with the same spray rig and it does a damn good job. Excels especially on the tires and black plastic.
After washing my Commanders I spray them down really good with Tire Wet it's a silicone based stuff and if you ride in muddy trails or just mud ride when you re all done riding you can basically walk by them and bump them and the mud falls off It's great for extremely thick mud
Thanks for sharing!! I appreciate that! I must have missed him saying that. Thank you for paying more attention than me and thank you for telling me about your experience! I really liked the way it brings out the shine, but not happy about the fading of the plastics. Thank you so much!!
If you guys want a full detail video you're going to have to get Steve I think that's his name Doug's brother Lol I would never hesitate to eat a meal off of Steve's ride
I like the simple green technique! Do you feel it degreases areas that should not be degreased? That would be the only reason that I would be worried about using it. Nice video
“It’s really important to get in there real deep with this thing” ... that’s what she said? 😂. I’ve cleaned mine all sorts of ways. It’s always a pita. I’m gonna give the simple green a try for sure.
I've always used simple green on mine but the one extra step I use which isn't much different than rick is after I spray off the soaked simple green I use some simple green as a soap with water in a bucket and make one pass over everything with a rag or mitten then rinse it off again. Almost looks brand new after.
Try Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax Coat (blue bottle) and see how that works. down here in Texas there's nothing but mud parks and thick clay that sticks to your sxs. I used the ceramic wax before I rode and the mud literally falls right off after you drive through the creek. Yee Yee🇺🇲
I don't know what rick did but I use chemical guys honeydew and it has way more foam. I pressure wash first with electric pressure washer, then foam cannon, then use a mit. And then use a leaf blower to dry, then use pledge on plastics.
You can use lemon pledge to bring that shine back on the black plastic pieces. I power wash mine and then rub all the black plastic pieces with lemon pledge. I use Dawn dish soap in my power washer
Your 25° nozzle has something stuck in it, the pattern was off. Pretty decent results guys, that canon should have some adjustment to give you some different foam thickness. Good job overall 👍
Simple green can pull the oils out of some plastic. If you notice them starting to dull hit them with some plastic restorer. Body plastics should be ok but the black trim plastic, grill or clutch cover might be.
Where do you get the good stuff at? I've looked locally and online i can only find by the case. You people should start selling maybe a 4 or 6 pak of it?
I heard of people using glass cleaner on your plastics, the foam stuff. Let it sit and then wipe off with microfiber cloth. Did you guys ever try it, I did once seems like it brings the plastics back to bright and new, and pretty inexpensive. Would you think that over time it could harm the plastics?
At 2:41 you say 1/3th simple green and 2/3th water so in Liters that is 1L/3L and 2L/3L = 3L total. But in your description you say 3 to 1 ratio... So 3L water and 1L simple green is like 4L total. That's a different mixture. So which one is correct? And what is simple green anyway? Is it dishwasher stuff to de-grease it? Like we have "Dreft" in Belgium? It is for doing the dishes but it's one heck of a degreaser as well... 😁
The purple members mark kitchen degreaser from Sam's works better than simple green mix it the same way in that sprayer it'll cut through anything and it makes white stuff super bright use it to clean mowers at work simple green never cut through the stains on the decks but the Sam's club stuff did no problem saved me over an hour cleaning time
So what if I have a Noam amp behind the seat like I did!!!! I starting going and oh ish!!! Lucky nothing happen system says water proof but a amp I would imagine isn’t put a towel over that for rest of wash
If you get some AMSOIL "MUDSLINGER" and spray it on before you ride, the mud and dirt will just roll off, plus it will make the black plastic look like new.
Ricks mav was popping...hand wash always spanks any other way..an for a sxs that cost as much as they do. I be taking panels off an pulling the seats out
SXSBlog.com 🤔 I have seen a similar part like this. Hopefully it will reduce clutch noise but just easier to clean it another plus. Hope to see a video about this!! 👍
I hand wash with soapy sponge..using dawn dish soap. If it's safe for oily duckies, it's safe for my x3 :) oh, and a beer in the other hand..the longer I take, the more beer I get to drink.
Not bad but, you may want to try these tips. One buy zep truck and trailer soap. Use a foam cannon and spray it down let it soak then pressure wash off easy. Then coat all plastics using motul plastic protectant
Good to see you Rick... It would have been sweet to see you in the race in Florida with the boys
Simple Green trick very nice. That’s going to be my new go to. Thanks for the tip.
I’m an Adams polishes guy. I use their wash and wax and it’s back to new everytime👍🏼👍🏼.

Sorry its beadmaker made by p&s products
Been using simple green for many years on my moto bikes, thought everyone knew to use it!
The timelapse of the clouds was pretty amazing
I would like to see yall do a nice ceramic coating on a unit and see how well it cleans up after a ride.
I have ceramic coat. Works great for the painted panels but it’s a horse a piece with plastic and vinyl

Foam cannon
Hand wash
Power rinse
Soft rinse
Spray detail
