Not the most high energy and missing my usual humour in this video (sorry just been tired lately) but i went really thorough and gave as much info as I can on how to make a prop box and grow your cuttings successfully. Enjoy

This is the best video I've seen ! ❤❤ I've watched so many others and being a first timer, left kinda confused. They say cut here then snip and don't show a close up of where they cut. Frustrating! Then I watched yours !! Thank you, thank you. Going to the store now ! ❤

I’m gunna keep trying the prop box, it seems to work so well for others. Mine always seems to rot so I’ll try the heat mat and maybe less packed-in moss… :D

Don’t give up on it Lizz. I think loosely placing the moss and heat mat or really warm area will make a difference.

Great video. I just switched my cuttings to a 50/50 vermiculite & perlite mix. I find that the spaghnum dries up too fast. I would definitely use spaghnum for larger prop boxes though. You look exhausted and thinner then usual. Take some time to relax buddy. 😁 BTW the shop is coming along wonderfully 😁

I started a prop box but I isr perlite. It works really well and fast. Pothos cuttings were the first test pilots, then the wet sticks. Next I tried dieffenbachia stem cuttings after I decapitated my very tall and twisted girl. Everyone of them sprouted roots and leaves. I love it but still love watching my water propagations. Thanks for all your videos. Happy proping🌱🌱🌱😀

Great video:) I have a few questions...1.If we are using a heated mat should we have it on all day or turn off at night? Do you need to propagate your plants in order to keep them healthy? and finally when your store opens will you be selling things like nursery pots, soil/potting mixes etc? Thank you for all these wonderful videos, I've learned so much and continue to learn new things:)

So jealous of the success with your monstera standleyana. I love them but struggle massively getting them to root. I have a few wet sticks with nodes and leaf cuttings, again with nodes in a prop box by a warm window sill. I will persevere!
Would be great if you could also dedicate a video to monstera standleyana - their care, propagation, etc. There’s so little out there for that beautiful (in my opinion) aroid.
Thank you for all that you do in spreading the grow love 💚

This was VERY FASCINATING!!! I had no idea about this process or how it worked!!! Explains why there's someome down the street from me who puts cuttings at the curb from houseplants and from the garden, with a sign that says "FREE CUTTINGS" for people to help themselves to... I don't judge, but honestly didn't understand why people would take them (thought maybe it was for compost or something?? Lol)

This is the best and most thorough, information-packed video on setting up and maintaining a prop box! I was just wondering - another plant aficionado on TH-cam said she drills holes in her plastic prop box for airflow and that she also places a container of water inside the box just for extra security in k owing there’s enough moisture. Do these things sound like good steps in your opinion or do you disagree?

I just started propagations in Sphagnum Moss. I have a Philodendron Mican that was one long vine so I cut it up, but had left a smaller vine. It’s been over a month and the six cuttings in water have finally begun growing roots, but the vine that I left was not rooting and the leaves were getting curled up. I cut more off (cutting single nodes) and put them in Sphagnum in an old take out container. It’s only been a few days but I’m hoping they’ll bounce back and root!!

    Hey quick question plant community!
I have a beautiful LARGE prop box and have 20+ varieties of cuttings (mostly tropical or subtropical and love humidity) and most have been in there for 4-6 weeks and little to no issues. They reciee 10-12 hours of light from a full spectrum grow light (attached to the lid via velcro).
However, the tips seem to get "soggy" and brown/black in the last few days? Unsure why I spray it when it gets dry-looking and I also treat the whole box with Neem oil once a week. I get some mold sometimes.
Any help on what's happening? Is it leaf rot? Does it need to air out more than once a day for at least an hour? I love the box and it will be my primary source of propagating.

I have put in spagnum moss two wet stick stems with multiple nodes of a Philodendron Furcatum that lost all leaves and roots from shipping shock as this is a very finicky plant . I put it in a prop.box with 80%humidity and 20 °C . I also have in there two Verricosums an alocasia dragon scale, and a Cisus Discolor node. I hope they'll survive. I check on them everyday I'm pretty obsessed 😅 and terrified of rot. Fingers crossed 🤞

I’m also from Toronto and I was thinking how the only place I feel comfortable buying good quality sphagnum moss is at the pet store, and the dollarama bins for props. Hey! I love your channel and this video was extremely useful to me right now! I am starting to sell plants, mostly cuttings from my mother plants, and I have been interested in finding a wholesale supplier. If I can ask how did you find yours?
Thank you for all your hard work on these videos and maybe someday I will visit your shop!

Thanks for such a detailed guide, I can't wait to start my propagations! =) Also, very much looking forward to the big shop opening this weekend. Are you going to sell any sphagnum moss, by any chance?

I had a crystal chonk that flourished in my prop box but then i got too impatient and transferred it to a grow tent (65% RH). It basically died back...T_T. I guess it needed a good month longer to develop solid roots.

How long would you have the heat mat on for?

Great video, very informative! It just seems like the node cuttings take forever. Do you ever plan to try perlite instead of spagnum moss one day? I've tried it on some node cuttings and so far, so good.

I find certain plants grow faster than others. I’ve always had success with philodendron, monstera and epipremnum bide cuttings. Scindapsus takes the longest usually for me, but once they root they take off. Will definitely try perlite one day.

One month in a prop box 😲! 🤔 How do you keep the box mould free and your house gnat free?
