      Something funny since I started my channel: my friends never actually noticed my plants when they were visiting my house, but now when they see the same plants in my videos they always ask for plants. So I am doing a lot of propagation for them ☺️

      My new favorite prop method is with perlite and water. So easy. No risk of rot. No gnats. Except for SOH. Butterfly method for those.

      I’ve seen Harli G prop SOH from sphagnum, but she says she makes a new pot because untangling the roots from sphag is almost impossible so she just sets the moss on top of soil

    • @julianilsson6421
      @julianilsson6421 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tried doing this, and removing the roots from the moss was pretty easy. However, potting all the tiny cuttings in soil was exhausting 😅 I also tried filling a 15cm pot with about 70% leca&pumice and soil+pumice on top and finally place the node cuttings on top of it. It worked just as good but saved a hell lot more time lol

    Great prop boxes. I do suggest labeling the box with what's in it and the date you took it. I use paper tape so you are not writing in the container itself.
    I always have proportions on the go, all year long. (Australia) As you say put under a light for longer time and you are golden, in spring you have new plants to pot.
    I love the butter fly method for the string/vine plants. I also make one vine to add in to the fuller cutting plant so when you pot it up you have an instant vining - bushy plant. Best of both worlds.

    Thanks for tips! Wish I had done this to save my string of pearls, which shrivelled up and seemed to dry out though soil was moist. I will try it with my eschevaria leaves as I had not had luck propagating them yet. They grow babies when I do the water and plastic wrap method but are so small hard to figure out when they need water after I pot them in soil. And the eschevaria babies I had in soil have dried out.

    So excited that I saw this! I’m trying to propagate stems with nodes and no leaves from a monstera in soil, but it keeps getting mould! I’ll try the tupperware method!

      Great medium to also use for baby plants too or those that may need a bit more root development

    Hi Christian! I have turned into a propagating loving plant owner. Bought one of those plastic covered with shelves greenhouses for spare room. I’m in process of “backing up” all my plants in greenhouse. Tried the sphag string of hearts butterfly method in GH but they died. Probably dried out, were watered etc. Too much. Now trying in closed glass container and much better as more constant moisture. Just in S. Facing window. You are an inspiration to me! Thanks for great video!

    Thanks for the tips. I have 2 pothos in water and it's been 3 weeks and no new root. I just realized they are cold so I place it on my table in a warm area wish me luck.

      Haha. Might be a little different in climate than Canada. 😅
      You guys can probably just throw plant pieces onto the ground somewhere in the yard and they'll thrive because of the good conditions.
