    I'm probably going to buy this to replace the Sony wireless microphone.
    The case makes things so much simpler. Plus the safety tracks and internal recording are a big bonus.
    The Sony has the advantage of being able to transmit audio through the MI shoe instead of a 3.5mm cable, but it doesn't give you any control over the input levels if you use the MI shoe.
    Plus the Sony just completely cuts out audio if the noise goes beyond a certain decibel level (e.g. a noisy vehicle exhaust passes you)

      @@scottslotterbeck3796 yeah I nearly bought the tascam before.
      But after using a wireless mic that feeds audio directly into the camera, I don't want to return to the hassle of syncing audio and video.
      Especially because I have a lot of short clips shot through the day. Sometimes it takes a long time for the auto sync to work out where everything goes and sometimes it just won't sync at all and I have to do it manually.
      At least with the DJI, you have the best of both worlds. The audio is fed straight into the camera but you also have internal recording in the mic itself and safety track support.
      I know the rode system also has those features but it doesn't include the handy case that protects and charges the system.

    It's nice to have 2 mics and can internally record as well as send to a reciever. My biggest issue is non removable batteries. If I depleat a battery, production stops until it's charged. Battery swaps would be a plus feature. The record button can be a recessed pres and hold. That could solve that problem.

    The sound is ok for the most part but... this is essentially DJIs first crack at a mic/audio recording solution. Given DJIs past issues with releasing products not quite ready for market, I would wait until version 2. No firmware is going to fix that RF interference because thats a shielding issue. The battery case is cool. I have one for my wireless Go 2 arriving next week

    • @DigitalGenki
      @DigitalGenki 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      im sure they purposely didn't add shielding, so they can put that in the 2nd version as a reason to upgrade

    • @ToastedSynapseGaming
      @ToastedSynapseGaming 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. I really hope it doesn't suffer from the same issues I heard people with the Rode Go 2 suffer from (especially with Sony cameras). I own a Rode Go 1 and a7S III and I'm constantly looking for videos like this to decide what I should get: DJI or Rode Go 2.
      The problem I have is that whenever the Receiver is close to the camera's mic input jack there's really annoying interference captured. You have to move it to the grip on the right side to get it to stop (easy enough if you have a cage with a cold shoe there and a longer cable but not ideal).
      Partially a fault of the camera's lack of good shielding, but if you play your cards right and buy from a place that has a return policy, you can just test it day 1 and see. If the shielding is crap, send it back. Sooooo, I don't know if DJI would want half of their products returned or something, or are they imagining it's only going to be used on action cameras?
      However... what we saw and heard in this video was that there were problems "sometimes"... So is that still shielding? Wouldn't those problems appear like every time? If a reboot fixed it then maybe software has a part to play in all of this? I don't know... Just speculation (obviously more testing is required).

    Next step....integrated 32 bit recording.
    Can you purchase additional transmitters and pair them? Eg 3 trans on 1 rec?

    Smart integration of commercial. You have to say something to test the mic so why not the commercial? 😆 It's the first video I cannot jump over the ad part.

    The DJI killed the noise of the hub in the mountain bike, that could either be a plus or a minus depending on what you're trying to do. Love that.

    Good comparison, I do have and relay on the wireless go 2. they are working fine to me. Only beef that I have with them is that the power on / off button doesn’t work well. Rest is alright so will not switch to the DJI one. Still interesting to see what’s out there, like the charging case though 👍🏻

    After seeing this video back in November, I pre-ordered the DJI to replace the Rode Wireless Go (original). Today, March 31, it finally arrived. I'm charging it now and can't wait to actually use it.

      How do you like it?

    • @JohnDrummondPhoto

      @@reactingtoscaryvideos5945 sadly, it was defective. The receiver completely locked up during setup. Touch screen and power button froze; I couldn't even turn it off. I had to return it. After 4 1/2 months, I got a dud. 🤬
      Worse, the initial shipment completely sold out so B&H had no replacement kits available. They don't know when they'll get more. So they gave me a refund. I will say, the hot shoe mount appears very fragile. If you watch DPReview's review video, you'll see that their receiver's hot shoe mount broke and they had to tape it to the camera. They also noted some distortion, especially if the mic wearer is facing away from the receiver. So maybe I dodged a bullet. It's a shame because the DJI has a lot of desirable features.

    Did notice less background noise on DJI Wireless Mic when riding bikes on the path. Also if they are both about the same price sounds like the DJI gives you more options. Best thing is the sound is great.

    The mic receiver is only connected by a USB-C plug? That feels not very sturdy. Doesn't that fall out on a rough ride?

    These mics are more about the electronics - data management & transmission, battery. DJI has a strong lead over Rhode. Rhode does know mics though, but clearly DJI doesn’t have a problem in this area. Really like the workflow and packaging from DJI too.
