The Wireless Pro WITHOUT the wind cover sounds almost as good as the Wireless Go II WITH the wind cover at speed. That's absolutely insane. Also, just a single frame after half an hour WITH temperature difference is kind of incredible.
What does the 32 bit float sound like if it is in someones pocket? I shoot wedding and would have to use a lav with these Rodes...which means I will not get the 32 bit recording unless I use the onboard recording from the transmitter in the grooms pocket or brides dress...any suggestions?
I have no use for 80% of the things you review but I've been watching your stuff for a long time and I keep coming back because I find you genuinely entertaining. Glad you're still making videos!
Totally picked up the Wireless PRO last week and it has been my go to mic since! With a couple adjustments on a mixer it sounds as good as my SM7Bs, yet WAY more versatile!
See, that's the problem with content creators. Nothing is ever wrong with the current setup until something new comes out. At the end of the day take the information you get with a grain of salt. You won't get an honest review from anyone on anything until the next best thing comes out.
You’re watching promoted videos incorrectly. YOU listen to the results and YOU decide if they’re good. The review is going to tell you about details like what it’s like to live with and any problems that came up.
Great way to really push the limits of sound gear! I vote Gene gets to test more mics while riding & FPV shooting! Having a run & gun-audio recording w/ out having to worry too much. I want syncing to be as effortless as possible especially when using discreet camera set up in work flow/ 1st person POV
I immediately ordered these when I saw the release. They are so good! No more peaking! So many features and that charging case is fantastic. Also kudos to rode for keeping the price down; the kit comes with so much for 400 bucks
@@ILLAILLSIf you get a lav you don't need this new Rode anymore , and I don't think the lav would be fixed to the rode also so Its not an possibility unfortunately. So 3D priting or paint scotch job like for cars
Can’t wait to get mine today! Gonna do a comparison between these and my Sennheiser G4’s. Been using the G3 and G4’s forever so I can see these slotting in there with all these insane features.
I love the handle stick for the rode mics but I have a 3d printer and there are several designs out there for the mics. I printed mine in yellow since that's all I had at the time for pla. I just need to get the foam piece for on top.
I have the Rode Wireless Go II and I'm interested in the Pros now for the locking mic cables, the 32-bit float, and I'm interested to try timecode since I've never personally used it.
I’ve missed you Jet. I’ve been studying for a year and I’ve missed so much. Graduated now and so I’m looking for a mic to record self tapes with and remembered you! Great review as always!
I have (2) Wireless Pro Systems. Two things they should add are these. #1- A way to to Jam Sync Timecode from an external device or at the very least, a way to Sync 2 or more receivers to each other. #2 - A Timecode Mode where Left channel outputs Transmitter 1, Right channel outputs Transmitter 2, and the USB can output or input Timecode. This would make these units infinitely better. I would hope these can be achieved via firmware.
I'm stoked! I preordered this unit and got notified that it shipped today! I've been limping along with the Wireless pro II but some clipped audio recordings and the non-locking lav had me planning to move on in the next month or two. Perfect timing from Rode!
How do you like them? I'm thinking about getting them because I get interference with my Sennheiser MKE2 lav mics on my GO ii system. Have you tried any non-Rode lav mics with this system, and if so have you experienced similar issues or is the interference gone?
@@DanielAx So far I'm loving the system. I haven't had any interference issues yet but I also haven't used them in any challenging conditions yet. I usually just do talking head interviews. I also love to use them as a pocket recorder that just happens to have a transmitter so I can check on my audio from time to time and make sure the lav hasn't fallen out of place. The only off-brand lav I own is the Countryman B3 and it sounds great with this system. I did have interference issues when shooting my old Go ii on my FX3 so I've committed to only using Rode Wireless into my FX6 and I haven't had any buzzing or interference so far. Love the time-code ability too, it's a nice bonus.
Another terrific review! You do such an incredible job with these. You're almost the only TH-camr I'll watch for video reviews anymore - you never disappoint!
This new kit really is a great deal for what you get. I would have expected it to be $100 more. Please don't ride on scooters that fast, even if it doesn't kill you, they are so much easier to crash and maul your arms and legs. Please be safe. Especially on those roads in Rancho Palos Verdes there are often people in exotic sports cars doing crazy shit.
“It’s got timecode in here.” Let me fix that statement for you Gene! “It’s got a BASIC form of timecode in here.” Also Gene, while I’m super hard on Rode for not creating proper timecode capabilities for this Pro unit, I think you didn’t setup the timecode test properly. The TC accuracy is entirely controlled by the receiver broadcasting back its temperature compensated TC value to the transmitters, while the internal clock is just a normal non-corrected clock like any camera.
Two things that no one is explicitly saying about these mics: 1. If you need 32 bit sound in post, the wireless function is completely useless. You could simply use one Tx as your whole setup and sync the internal recording with the camera's scratch audio in post. 2. If you use a setup with an external mic attached to the Tx, the microphone will clip for louder sounds just like with any other recorder, 32 or 24 bit. So the microphone's ability to capture loud sounds without clipping will become the bottleneck there.
Solid review. I say that because I didnt think I was going to be spending any money today until i watched this video. So thanks for making me slightly more broke. 😅
So are these mics going to replace your DJI mics in all your other videos? I noticed other than the review video you made for the RODE Wireless Go II mics, you never use them for your videos. I noticed you always use the DJI Mics instead.
Between 12:12" and 12:20"... is this possible because of the GAIN ASSIST technology delivering directly balanced audio to your camera? Or did you record in 32bit and then sync it in resolve? It's really amazing! Thank you!

Just got mine and I'm loving testing them out! I also love your reviews! One thing I think is kind of annoying is that there's no way to use the timecode while also recording both transmitters onto my sony a7iv? Cause it only supports timecode with audio? Or am i missing something? I would personally love to be able to do the internal recording with timecode on it as a backup and also get the same timecode on my camera so it's easy to sync up if I ever need to recover some audio from the TX. They should add a way to have both audio channels free while using timecode through the usb-c instead at the same time. Would make these absolutely perfect. Or is that already possible except my a7iv does not support TC through the usb? I guess it might work with a fx6 or something that has the dedicated BNC timecode in/output?

Yo Gene. if hypothetically you were working with 2 sets of these Pros, how might you get the timecodes of the two RX units to sync? since they can't receive, I guess there isn't a way to do it. In theory they all can 'do' timecode, but I can't for the life of my bend my mind around getting them all on the same clock. any tips on how you would configure that setup?

I shoot wedding so I would have to use a lav to hide the mics, meaning I would not get the 32 bit float unless I'm using the onboard recording...which would be in a brides dress or grooms pocket...any thoughts?
How would timecode work if you're shooting multicamera with something like canon r6 or r5 for example? They don't have timecode sync ports and you can only plug the receiver into one camera? Im asking as these mics seems to be oriented towards mirrorless cameras but few have sync ports
Hey man! What would you suggest when comparing to the new Tascam DL10 Pro, which also records 32 bit float. Trying to decide what I need for my wedding videography. I love my GO ii but I get a lot of interference when using it with my Sennheiser MKE2s. The closer the microphone is to the transmitter, the louder the buzzing (also on the internal recording). As soon as I turn off the receiver, the buzzing is gone. So I can record internally fine, I just have to hope everything works because I won't be able to monitor it lol.
